가변 압축 미디어 특성을 갖는 비디오 서비스는 발생되는 프레임 단위의 트래픽의 유동성 때문에 대역폭 관리에 있어 많은 제약을 수반한다. 특히, MPEG 비디오와 같이 VBR(Variable Bit Rate) 트래픽 특성을 갖는 비디오에 대한 대역폭 관리는 프레임간의 심한 트래픽 변이 때문에 대역폭 활용 이득이 낮아진다. 또한, VOD(Video-On-Demand)와 같은 대화형 비디오 서비스에서 VCR 기능과 같은 대화형 서비스를 제공할 때의 트래픽 변화는 예측하기 힘들기 때문에 효과적인 대역폭 관리가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG 비디오와 같이 VBR 트래픽 특성을 지닌 저장 미디어를 기반으로 하는 대화형 비디오 서비스를 위한 동적 대역폭 할당 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 선인출 기반의 가변구간 대역폭 할당 기법과 다수 스트림에 대한 동적 대역폭 관리를 통해 주어진 전체 대역폭의 활용율을 극대화시킨다. 또한, 제안하는 기법은 MPEG 스트림의 트래픽 특성을 반영한 대역폭 할당 방법을 적용하며, 다중 스트림에 대해 동적 대역폭 관리를 사용한 네트워크 자원 활용을 극대화시킬 수 있는 방법을 제공한다.

본 논문은 IPTV, VoD와 같은 비디오 스트리밍 트래픽에 대해 큐 길이 변동을 최소화하여 안정적인 지연변이를 보장할 수 있는 스케줄링 방안을 제안한다. MPEG-4 및 H.264와 같은 코덱은 가변 비트율(VBR)로 영상 프레임을 전송하기 때문에 일정 시간 내에 전송되어야 하는 트래픽의 양이 매우 유동적이다. 기존 스케줄링 방안을 이용하여 영상 프레임을 전송할 경우 VBR 특성으로 인해 종단간 패킷 전달 지연변이의 증가를 초래한다. 이에 우리는 대량으로 유입되는 스트리밍 트래픽에 대하여 패킷의 대량 유입 크기와 도착률을 고려하여 서비스율을 적응적으로 제어함으로써 큐 길이 변화율을 최소화할 수 있는 스케줄링 방안을 제안한다. 제안 방안을 이용할 경우 큐 길이 변동의 최소화를 통해 보다 안정적으로 영상 서비스 패킷을 전달할 수 있다. 제안 방안의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 우리는 큐잉 모델을 이용하였으며, 또한 OPNET 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

ATM 네트워크의 목적은 다양한 네트워크의 접속을 지원하는 것이다. ATM 망에서 ABR 서비스는 CBR, VBR에 할당된 전송률을 제외한 나머지를 이용해서 데이터를 전송한다. 오디오 또는 비디오 데이터와 같이 실시간 전송이 필요한 서비스들은 전송지연이 제한되는 CBR이나 VBR 트래픽을 이용하여 제공할 수 있지만, 이런 경우에는 전체 전송률을 효과적으로 사용하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 ABR 스위치의 스위치 알고리즘인 ERICA(Explicit Rate Indicate Avoidance) 스위치 방식과 EPRCA(Enhanced Proportional Rate Control Algorithm) 스위치 방식의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션의 평가 기준으로 과도상태와 정상상태에서 각 송신원에서의 전송률(ACR:Allowed Cell Rate)의 변화, 큐 길이, 링크 대역폭 이용률과 전송률의 공평성 여부를 사용하였다. 실험결과 EPRCA 스위치 방식은 ERICA 방식보다 뛰어난 반응 특성을 나타내는 결과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 안정성과 페어웨어 특성은 ERICA 스위치 방식이 EPRCA 스위치 방식보다 우수한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Tuned Liquid Dampers (TLDs) have gained wide acceptance as a system for structural control and energy dissipation. However, they face limitation caused by low damping in deep water, which affects their efficiency. Another problem with deep water TLDs is that not all water depth participates in energy dissipation. This paper investigated the effect of upper mounted baffles on the effectiveness of TLDs. The Vertical Blockage Ratio (VBR) of baffles ranged from 10% - 90%. The TLD (with and without baffle), structure, and combined structure with TLD (with and without baffles) were subjected to free and harmonic forced vibrations. Results indicated that baffles could significantly enhance the energy dissipation of TLDs, thus reducing structural responses more than structures equipped with ordinary TLDs. It was found that, there was an optimum value of VBR in which the TLD's efficiency was maximized. When TLD had an appropriate VBR, the structural acceleration and displacement responses were suppressed significantly up to 51% and 56%, respectively.

In recent years, the predominant part in telecommunications is mobile communications. The next generation network is extending today's voice-only mobile networks to multi-service networks. ATM Network is possible to carry such multi-media traffic and it will be expect to use wireless ATM for the future mobile access network. One of manly important aspects for the performance of wireless ATM is the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol. The MAC protocol must be able to satisfyingly handle the different ATM services (CBR, VBR, ABR and UBR) with their radically different performance requirements. Additionally, the MAC protocol must be able to cope with the complex radio environment where fading, multi-path propagation interference and burst-errors further complicate the situation. In this paper, a dynamic slot allocation algorithm in wireless ATM is proposed for an efficient channel sharing/media access at the MAC layer. We use equivalent capacity in the allocation of slots for VBR traffic which is variable along the time. It is simple and effective slot allocation method for VBR service. In particular, we consider the slot allocation of a session consisted of several connections for requirement of multimedia traffic. Simulation shows that the cell loss ratio is reduced by re-allocation of extra slots in Mobile Terminal (MT).

ATM 망에서 MPEG 비디오 스트림은 CBR과 VBR 서비스를 이용하여 전송한다. 그러나 MPEG 스트림 트래픽은 시간에 따라 크게 변하는 특성을 가지고 있어 대역폭을 낭비하지 않고 효율적으로 전송하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 지금까지 하나의 MPEG 비디오 스트림의 트래픽 특성 및 제어에 대한 연구는 많은 연구자들에 의해 이루어져왔지만 여러 개의 MPEG 비디오 스트림이 다중화기에 의해 다중화된 트래픽의 특성 및 제어에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 다중화기에 의해 다중화된 트래픽의 가변성 및 최대 셀 전송률을 줄이기 위한 다중화 방법을 제안한다. 다중화 트래픽의 최대 셀 전송률을 줄임으로써 이러한 트래픽을 가능한 대역폭의 낭비를 줄이면서 효율적으로 전송할 수 있게 된다.
