Numerous stationary NOx emission sources have employed a suitable deNOx technology that is typically selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx by NH3 over V2O5/TiO2-based catalysts with on-demand monolithic structures. These structured catalysts undergo a time-on-deterioration of deNOxing activity on site. Thus, we need more efficient, more deactivation-tolerant, more economic deNOx systems and for which, their performance management is essential. This review has covered details of strategies to successfully manage the performance of SCR catalysts and timely replace them to new or rejuvenated ones. Key considerations to maintain the catalyst activity will be reviewed. Details of the sequential addition of new catalysts and the replacement of life-end catalysts and their regeneration will be discussed with general guidances to determine the time for such a replacement. Finally, a better way to get more economic approaches to deNOx system management will be proposed here.
Multi-target X-ray tube is a new type X-ray source, and can be applied in many fields such as sensitive X-ray fluorescence analysis and medical imaging. In this work, we report an electric field modulation multi-target X-ray tube, which contains four targets (Cr, Ni, Au, Mo) coated on a Beryllium (Be) window. A four-valve electric field deflector was developed to deflect the electron beam to bombard the corresponding targets. Particle dynamics analysis software was employed to simulate the particle tracking of electron beam. The results show that the 30 keV electron beam could get a 6.7 mm displacement on the target plane by 105 V/m electric field. The focus areas are about 2 mm × 5 mm and 4 mm × 2.5 mm after deflection in two directions. Thermal behavior calculated by ANSYS shows that the designed target assembly could withstand a 10 W continuous power. The optimum target thicknesses and emission spectra were obtained by Geant4 when the thickness of Be window was 300 mm and the electron beam incident angle was 0.141 rad. The results indicate that this multi-target X-ray tube could provide different X-ray sources effectively.

In the current medical field, lead is widely used as a radiation shield. However, the lead weight is very heavy, so wearing protective clothing such as apron is difficult to wear for long periods of time and there is a problem with the danger of lethal toxicity in humans. Recently, many studies have been conducted to develop substitute materials of lead to resolve these problems. As a substitute materials for lead, barium(Ba) and iodine(I) have excellent shielding ability. But, It has characteristics emitting characteristic X-rays from the energy area near 30 keV. For patients or radiation workers, shielding materials is often made into contact with the human body. Therefore, the characteristic X-rays generated by the shielding material are directly exposured in the human body, which increases the risk of increasing radiation absorbed dose. In this study, we have developed the FLUKA transport code, one of the most suitable elements of radiation transport codes, to remove the characteristic X-rays generated by barium or iodine. We have verified the reliability of the shielding fraction of the structure of the structure shielding by comparing with the MCPDX simulations conducted as a prior study. Using the MCNPX and FLUKA, the double layer shielding structures with the various thickness combination consisting of barium sulphate ($BaSO_4$) and bismuth oxide($Bi_2O_3$) are designed. The accuracy of the type shown in IEC 61331-1 was geometrically identical to the simulation. In addition, the transmission spectrum and absorbed dose of the shielding material for the successive x-rays of 120 kVp spectra were compared with lead. In results, $0.3mm-BaSO_4/0.3mm-Bi_2O_3$ and $0.1mm-BaSO_4/0.5mm-Bi_2O_3$ structures have been absorbed in both 33 keV and 37 keV characteristic X-rays. In addition, for high-energy X-rays greater than 90 keV, the shielding efficiency was shown close to lead. Also, the transport code of the FLUKA's photon transport code was showed cut-off on low-energy X-rays(below 33keV) and is limited to computerized X-rays of the low-energy X-rays. But, In high-energy areas above 40 keV, the relative error with MCNPX was found to be highly reliable within 6 %.
In this study, we analyzed the next generation ITS (C-ITS) technology trends, focusing on the national and international C-ITS projects. Based on the promotion practices of developed countries, we pointed out the lack of linkages with the existing ITS infrastructure. As a way to overcome this problem, we proposed the three-direction to enable the existing ITS infrastructure corresponding to the C-ITS. First one is developing a technique to improve the performance of the existing ITS infrastructure and automate the performance management (Performance-enhanced ITS). Second, developing active sensors or fusion sensor which along with V2X communication technology implement of an active safety driving support system (Safety-enhanced ITS). Third, we need to develop a technology that generate the new advanced traffic data by integrating the collected data from existing ITS infrastructure and nomadic device (Cloud-ITS). By improving the function of the existing ITS infrastructure for adaptation to the new V2X communication environment, we enhanced the efficiency of maintenance performance and would maximize the benefit of the introduction of C-ITS.
We have studied the origin of an additional plateau of $Li_{4+x}Ti_5O_{12}$ (LTO) observed at 0.7 V (vs. Li/$Li^+$). Some LTO has to be discharged down to below 1.0 V forming two-stage plateau (1.5 V and 0.7 V) in order to obtain most of capacity while others could achieve the same level of capacity at higher potential (1.0 V vs. Li/$Li^+$) forming one plateau (1.5 V). The particle size effect has been investigated as a possible reason of this. The 0.7 V plateau was gradually elongated with increasing the particle size. The structural variations and kinetic behaviors during discharge were carefully examined by in-situ XRD technique and OCV measurement. According to structural and electrochemical verifications, the kinetic limitation of $Li^+$ insertion is responsible primarily for the two-stage plateau which is related to the particle size of LTO rather than the formation of new intermediate phase during discharge. Herein, we propose a possible reaction model to elucidate this abnormal behavior of LTO below 1.0 V (Li/$Li^+$).
An experimental study of energy absorption and x-ray emission from ultrashort laser pulse irradiation of in-situ produced solid clusters has been performed. Silver clusters produced by a 30 mJ, 300 ps laser pulse were irradiated up to an intensity of $3{\times}10^{17}\;W/cm^2$ by a 70 mJ, 45 fs compressed laser pulse from the same Ti:sapphire laser. Absorption of the laser light exceeding 70% was observed, resulting in an x-ray yield (>1 keV) of ${\sim}60{\mu}J$ pulse. This may constitute a much simpler means of intense x-ray generation using ultrashort laser pulses as compared to the irradiation of structured / pre-deposited cluster targets, and it offers higher x-ray conversion efficiency than that from gas clusters and planar solid targets.
This study evaluated the mechanical properties of Ti-Cu alloys with the hope of developing an alloy for dental casting with better mechanical properties than unalloyed titanium. Ti-Cu alloys with four concentrations of Cu(2,5,10wt%) were made in an argon-arc melting furnace. The microstructure and micro-Vickers hardness were determined. X-ray diffraction pattern test was performed on the polished specimens. The microstructure of 2%Cu and 5%Cu alloys are shown acicular ${\alpha}Ti$ phase formed on the surfaces of previously formed $\beta$grains. The 10%Cu alloys has essentially a eutectoid structure; this structure includes lamella of ${\alpha}Ti$ and $Ti_2Cu$ phase that transformed from ${\alpha}Ti$ at the eutectoid temperature. The micro-Vickers hardness of CP Ti specimens was significantly(p<0.05) lower than that of any of the other alloys. Among the Ti-Cu alloys, the 10%Cu alloys exhibited a significantly(p<0.05) higher hardness value. but lower than that of Ti-6%Al-4%V alloy. From these results, it was concluded that new alloys for dental castings should be designed as Ti-Cu based alloys if other properties necessary for dental castings were obtained.
The sensing and electrical characteristics of $WO_{3}$-based n-type semiconductor gas sensors are investigated. In normal air condition, $TiO_{2}$(4 wt. %)-doped $WO_{3}$-based sensor fabricated without any binder shows the grain boundary ( GB ) potential barrier height of 0.26 V. Sensors fabricated with alumina, PVA and silica sol binders show 0.17, 0.22 and 0.26 V of GB potential barrier height, respectively. In the ambience of 120 ppm $NO_{x}$ concentration, the GB potential barrier height of the sensor fablicated without binder is increased to 0.59 V. The sensors were fabricated with alumina, PVA, silica sol binders show 0.43, 0.66 and 0.52 V of potential barrier, respectively. Thus the variation of the potential barrier at GB is largest in the sensor fabricated with the PVA binder. This is found to be the main reason why the sensor fabricated with the PVA binder shows the best sensitivity. It is also found that the decrease of sensitivity at a temperature higher than the optimum operation temperature is due to the temperature dependence of the sensor resistance in normal air condition rather than the desorption of the adsorbed $NO_{x}$ gas particles. In the ambience of 250 ppm CO concentration, the GB potential barrier heights of the sensors fabricated without binder and with PVA binder are about 0.2 V showing negligible change compared to the case of normal air ambience. This fact indicates that these sensors are good candidates for the selective detection of $NO_{x}$ gas in the mixture of CO and $NO_{x}$ gases.
At a recent medical imaging technology, the major issue of X-ray diagnosis in breast cancer is the early detection of breast cancer and low patient's exposure dose. As one of studies to acquire a monochromatic X-ray, Technologies using multilayer mirror had been preceded. However, a uniform multilayer mirror that consists of uniform thin-film thickness can acquire a monochromatic X-ray only in the partial area corresponds to angle of incidence of white X-ray, so there are limits for X-ray imaging technology applications. In this study, we designed laterally graded multilayer mirror(below GML) that reflects same monochromatic X-ray over the entire area of thin-film mirror, which have the the thickness of the linear gradient that correspond to angle of incidence of white X-ray. By using ion-beam sputtering system added the mask control system we fabricated a GML which has size of $100{\times}100mm^2$. The GML is designed to achieve the monochromatic X-ray of 17.5kev energy and has thin-film thickness change from 4.62nm to 6.57nm(3.87nm at center). It reflects the monochromatic X-ray with reflectivity of more than 60 percent, FWHM of below 2.6keV and X-ray beam width of about 3mm. The monochromatic X-ray corresponded to 17.5keV using GML would have wide application in development of mammography system with high contrast and low dose.

최근 단순한 이동수단의 목적인 자동차에서 IT기술을 접목시킨 스마트 자동차로의 패러다임 변환을 시도하고 있다. 이러한 ITS(Intelligent Transportation System)기반 스마트 자동차에는 기본적으로 차량 통신 네트워크 기술인 V2X(Vehicle-to-Infra/Vehicle/Nomadic)가 통신기술부분으로 이용되고 있다.
