  • We provide some examples around AP and WAP spaces which are connected with higher convergence properties-radiality, semiradiality and pseudoradiality. We also prove a theorem (Theorem 3.2) that (a) any pseudo-open continuous image of an AP-space is an AP-space and (b) any pseudo-open continuous image of an WAP-space is an WAP-space. This answers the question posed by V. V. Tkachuk and I. V. Yaschenko [10].

  • This paper presents a step-down DC-DC converter with On-chip Compensation for battery-operated portable electronic devices which are designed in O.13um CMOS standard process. In an effort to decrease system volume, this paper proposes the on chip compensation circuit using capacitor multiplier method. Capacitor multiplier method can minimize error amplifier's compensation capacitor size by 10%. It allows the compensation block of DC-DC converter be easily integrated on a chip and occupy less layout area. But capacitor multiplier operation reduces DC-DC converter efficiency. As a result, this converter shows maximum efficiency over 87.2% for the output voltage of 1.2V (input voltage : 3.3V), maximum load current 500mA, and 25mA output ripple current. This voltage mode controled buck converter has 1MHz switching frequency.

  • We consider long nonlinear waves in the two-layer flow of an inviscid and incompressible fluid bounded above by a free surface and below by a rigid boundary. The flow is forced by a bump on the bottom. The derivation of the forced KdV equation fails when the density ratio h and the depth ratio $\rho$ yields a condition $1 + h\rho = (2-h)((1-h)^2 + 4\rho h)^{1/2}$. To overcome this difficulty we derive a forced modified KdV equation by a refined asymptotic method. Numerical solutions are given and hydraulic fall solution of a two layer fluid is expressed analytically in the case that derivation of the forced KdV (FKdV) equation fails.

  • We present an improved V-BLAST receiver that cancels co-channel interference (CCI), based on reliability normalization over frequency-selective channels, in log-likelihood ratio (LLR) sense. The performance has been evaluated in the exponential decay channel model with various normalized ms delay spread and different filter taps. It is also compared with the ordered successive interference cancellation-decision feedback equalizer (OSIC-DFE). Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed receiver with (2,1) is close to OSIC-DFE with (6,3) at normalized ms delay spread 0.5 symbol periods.

  • Traffic safety and congestion are becoming more and more serious, especially the frequent occurrence of traffic accidents, which have caused great casualties and economic losses. Cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) can assist in safe driving and improve traffic efficiency through real-time information sharing and communication between vehicles. All vehicles communicate directly with Base Stations (BS), which will increase the base station load. And when the communicating vehicles are too far apart, too fast or there are obstacles in the communication path, the communication link can be unstable or even interrupted. Therefore, choosing an effective and reliable multi-hop relay-assisted Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication can not only reduce the base station load and improve the system throughput but also expand the base station coverage and improve the communication quality of edge vehicles. Therefore, a communication area division scheme based on regular hexagon segmentation technology is proposed, a relay-assisted V2V communication mechanism is designed for the divided communication areas, and an efficient communication link is constructed by selecting the best relay node. Simulation results show that the scheme can improve the throughput of the system by nearly 55% and enhance the robustness of the V2V communication link.

A Study on the Thermally Stimulated Current in CdS Single Crystal (CdS단결정의 열랄격전류에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the CdS single crystal, which was grown as piper-polish method, was Ion-bombarded with Sb and In, and the thermally stimulated current of the spot that was Ionbombarded was measured. In the sample which was individually bombarded by Sb and In, the over-lapping peak was found, this over lapping peak was separated, by the method of thermal cleaning, showing the trap levels of 0.25(eV) and 0.31(eV) at the temperature of 147(K) and 181(K). While the spot is being cooled down and excited with photolight at the same time, the trap level 0.25(eV) disappeared and the new trap level of 0.85(eV) appeared. It can be said that the better photo-conductive crystals, the T.S.C is better measured.

Extended-list SQRD-based Decoder for Improving BER performance in V-Blast systems

  • In the QR Decomposition-based (QRD) decoding class, the system performance is sensitive to the error propagation. Thus, it is critical to correctly decode the previous layers. One approach to desensitize the error propagation is to propose the optimal decoding order of layers. In this work, we propose a new extended-list Sorted QRD-base (SQRD) decoding approach. In the proposed decoding scheme, the solution of the few first layers is extended as the list of promising possible solutions. By doing so, the diversity of the lowest layer is increased. As a result, the system performance is less sensitive to the error propagation than its counterparts. The proposed approach is verified by the computer simulation results.

  • One of the crucial elements to fully facilitate the various benefits of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is to obtain more reliable traffic monitoring in real time. To date, point and section-based traffic measurements have been available through existing surveillance technologies, such as loops and automatic vehicle identification (AVI) systems. However, seamless and more reliable traffic data are required for more effective traffic information provision and operations. Technology advancements including vehicle tracking and wireless communication enable the acceleration of the availability of individual vehicle travel information. This study presents a UBIquitous PRObe vehicle Surveillance System (UBIPROSS) using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) wireless communications. Seamless vehicle travel information, including origin-destination information, speed, travel times, and other data, can be obtained by the proposed UBIPROSS. A set of parameters associated with functional requirements of the UBIPROSS, which include the market penetration rate (MPR) of equipped vehicles, V2V communication range, and travel time update interval, are investigated by a Monte Carlo simulation- (MCS) based evaluation framework. In addition, this paper describes prototypical implementation. Field test results and identified technical issues are also discussed. It is expected that the proposed system would be an invaluable precursor to develop a next-generation traffic surveillance system.

Electric Characteristics of $V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ Glass Semiconductor ($V_2O_5-P_2O_5$계 유리반도체의 전기적 특성)

  • This paper is dealing a $V_3O_5-P_2O_5$ metal oxide glass semiconductor. This semiconductor is easy to fabricate in the atmospheric condition at relatively low temperature. The element is made like a bead, and platinum segments are used as electrodes. Other kind of metal withstanding high temperature near 1000C can also be used as electrode. Experiment verifies that the fabricated element has the resistance in the order of about ~$10^5\;\Omega$, and shows negative resistance characteristics and switching characteristics with respect to temperature. An equivalent circuit of the element is proposed based on its electrical characteristcs.
