  • This paper describes the modeling of CNG direct injection using gaseous sphere injection model. Simulation of CNG direct injection does not need break up and evaporation model compared to that of liquid fuel injection. And very fine mesh is needed near the injector nozzle to resolve the inflow boundary. Therefore it takes long computation time for gaseous fuel injection simulation. However, simulation of CNG direct injection could be performed with the coarse mesh using gaseous sphere injection model. This model was integrated in KIVA-3V code and RNG $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model needs to be modified because this model tends to over-predict gas jet diffusion. Furthermore, we preformed experiments of gaseous fuel injection using PLIF (planar laser induced fluorescence)method. Gaseous fuel injection model was validated against experiment data. The simulation results agreed well with the experiment results. Therefore gaseous sphere injection model has the reliability about gaseous fuel direct injection. And this model was predicted well a general tendency of gaseous fuel injection.

  • Cutter forces acting on a disc cutter in TBM are the key parameters for TBM design and its performance prediction. This study aimed to experimentally evaluate cutter forces with different ring shapes in a hard rock. The stiffness of a cutter ring was indirectly estimated from a series of full-scale linear cutting tests. From the experiments, it was verified that the rolling stress acting on a V-shape disc cutter was much higher than on a CCS disc cutter even though the penetration depth by a V-shape disc cutter could be increased in the same cutting condition. Finally, it is suggested that a prediction model considering the shape parameters of a disc cutter should be used for its better prediction.

  • To deepen the understanding of shear behaviour in beams without transverse reinforcement, the relative importance of five contributing factors to concrete shear resistance($v_c$), which are i)flexural compression zone, ii)friction at crack faces, iii)dowel action, iv)arch action and recently identified, v)residual tensile stresses across cracks, was explained physically using two analytical methods based on the truss concept. One is called "Modified Compression Field Theory(MCFT)" considering ii) and v) explicitly, and the other "Crack Friction Truss Model(CFTM)" more dominantly ii) in determining concrete resistance. To verify their effectiveness, the predictions using MCFT and CFTM were also made for twenty KAIST beam tests($f'_c$=53.7Mpa), designated more likely to the development of the size effect law based on the fracture mechanics concept. Experimental findings with varying of a/d, longitudinal reinforcement ratios, and obtained from MCFT enabled additional explanations for some phenomena which were difficult to measure in tests. However, MCFT seemed somewhat conservative for beams with higher longitudinal reinforcement, while somewhat unsafe for beams with larger depths. More tests are necessary leading to firm conclusions in these areas.

  • This paper deals with a standard cell placement which is based on a quadratic programming. This paper proposes a new additional force to reduce the cell overlap and to get a uniform distribution of cells. The additional force is not concerned with interconnections between cells, but it is determined by the density of a placement area. In this paper, we modelled that the new additional force is a force which is caused by the dummy fixed cell. And it is used for the global placement. Proposed placement method is compared with TimberWolf v7.0 and Itools vl.4. Proposed placer achieved 7.5% average reduction in wirelength in non timing driven mode, 5.0% average reduction in wlrelength in timing driven mode compared to TimberWolf v7.0. And we got a comparable result to Itools vl.4.

  • It is well known that the dominant damage mechanisms in high-temperature steam turbine facilities such as rotor and casing are creep and fatigue damages. Even though coupling of creep and fatigue should be considered while predicting the life of turbine facilities, the remaining life of large steam turbine facilities is generally determined on the basis of creep damage because the turbines must generate stable base-load power and because they are operated at a high temperature and pressure for a long time. Almost every large steam turbine in Korea has been operated for more than 20 years and is made of steel containing various amounts of principal alloying elements nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. In this study, creep damage model of 1Cr1Mo1/4V steel for turbine rotor is proposed and that can assess the high temperature creep life of large steam turbine facilities is proposed.

  • Research on the integration of unmanned aerial vehicles and deep learning for reinforced concrete damage detection is actively underway. Convolutional neural networks have a high impact on the performance of image classification, detection, and segmentation as backbones. The MobileNet, a pre-trained convolutional neural network, is efficient as a backbone for an unmanned aerial vehicle-based damage detection model because it can achieve sufficient accuracy with low computational complexity. Analyzing vanilla convolutional neural networks and MobileNet under various conditions, MobileNet was evaluated to have a verification accuracy 6.0~9.0% higher than vanilla convolutional neural networks with 15.9~22.9% lower computational complexity. MobileNetV2, MobileNetV3Large and MobileNetV3Small showed almost identical maximum verification accuracy, and the optimal conditions for MobileNet's reinforced concrete damage image feature extraction were analyzed to be the optimizer RMSprop, no dropout, and average pooling. The maximum validation accuracy of 75.49% for 7 types of damage detection based on MobilenetV2 derived in this study can be improved by image accumulation and continuous learning.

  • In this paper, we have proposed VmCUnet, a deep learning model designed to enhance image segmentation performance in skin lesion image. VmCUnet has combined Vm-UnetV2 with the CIM(Cross-Scale Interaction Module), and the features extracted from each layer of the encoder have been integrated through CIM to accurately recognize the boundaries of various patterns and objects. VmCUnet has performed image segmentation of skin lesions using ISIC-2017 and ISIC-2018 datasets and has outperformed Unet, TransUnet, SwinUnet, Vm-Unet, and Vm-UnetV2 on the performance metrics IoU and Dice Score. In future work, we will conduct additional experiments on different medical imaging datasets to validate the generalization performance of the VmCUnet model.

  • Due to their excellence for the high-energy therapy range of photon beams, researchers show increasing interest in applying MOSFET dosimeters to low- and medium-energy applications. In this energy range, however, MOSFET dosimeter is complicated by the fact that the interaction probability of photons shows significant dependence on the atomic number, Z, due to photoelectric effect. The objective of this study is to develop a very detailed 3-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation model of a MOSFET dosimeter for radiological characterizations and calibrations. The sensitive volume of the High-Sensitivity MOSFET dosimeter is very thin (1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and the standard MCNP tallies do not accurately determine absorbed dose to the sensitive volume. Therefore, we need to score the energy deposition directly from electrons. The developed model was then used to study various radiological characteristics of the MOSFET dosimeter. the energy dependence was quantified for the energy range 15 keV to 6 MeV; finding maximum dependence of 6.6 at about 40 keV. A commercial computer code, Sabrina, was used to read the particle track information from an MCNP simulation and count the tracks of simulated electrons. The MOSFET dosimeter estimated the calibration factor by 1.16 when the dosimeter was at 15 cm depth in tissue phantom for 662 keV incident photons. Our results showed that the MOSFET dosimeter estimated by 1.11 for 1.25 MeV photons for the same condition.

  • Mechanism of combustion frequencies occurring during combustion is experimentally investigated in model combustor with V-gutter flameholder. this combustor has a long duct shape with a cross section area of $40{\times}40\;mm$. The v-gutter type flameholder with 14mm width is mounted at the bottom of combustor. Kerosene and methane were used as fuel, and these fuel were injected transversely into air crossflow. It is found that combustion frequencies were considered as 1L longitudinal mode caused by combustor geometry and vortex shedding mode of flameholder. And fuel phase effect and nozzle effect were also observed in the low frequency range.
