In this paper, we introduce the methodology for the automatic generation of the subject field hierarchy for Intellgent Expert Management Framework using WordNet. Intelligent Expert Management Framework, which is proposed as an appropriate method to manage valuable tacit knowledge within the organization, defines the expert profile structure and proposes the efficient method to automate the process to collect and update the expert profile information based on the profile structure defined. To increase the satisfaction level of users, additional intelligent search features are defined and users can be given the list of experts in related or similar expert fields when they perform expert searches based on the expert database being built. To enable automatic profiling of the organizational experts as well as intelligent expert searches, the subject field hierarchy, upon which the expert profiles are classified and expert searches for similar fields are performed, should be predefined. In this paper, we propose the WordNet library method that first eliminates the ambiguity of the senses of nominal data values, constructs the subject field hierarchy by overlapping the hypernym of the remaining senses, and lastly adjusts the derived hierarchy to the preference of users. Based on the proposed methodology, we expect to avoid the prohibitive costs in building large subject field hierarchies when manually done as well as maintain the objectivity of the hierarchies.

최근 인터넷과 스마트 폰의 발달로 사용자들 사이의 관계를 통해 다양한 정보를 생성하고 공유할 수 있는 소셜 미디어 서비스가 활발히 이용되고 있다. 특히 정보의 양이 방대해지고 신뢰할 수 없는 정보가 증가함에 따라 사용자에게 필요한 정보를 제공해 줄 수 있는 전문가 추천 기법에 대한 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 관심 분야, 인적 관계, 응답 품질을 고려한 전문가 추천 기법을 제안한다. 사용자의 관심 분야는 사용자가 소셜 네트워크상의 활동을 분석해 최신의 사용자의 관심 분야 지수를 판단한다. 사용자의 인적 관계는 소셜 네트워크상의 같은 관심분야의 사용자만을 추출하여 인적 관계를 구축하여 인적 관계 지수를 판단한다. 사용자의 응답 품질은 사용자의 응답 속도와 응답 내용을 고려하여 응답 품질 지수를 판단한다. 마지막으로 사용자의 관심 분야, 인적 관계, 응답 품질을 합하여 사용자의 전문가 지수를 판단하고 사용자의 질의를 분석하여 질의와 전문가 그룹을 매칭하여 전문가를 추천한다. 다양한 성능평가를 통해 제안하는 기법이 기존 기법에 비해 성능이 우수함을 보인다.

Utilizing the tools such as CLIPS can reduce the time that it takes to develop expert systems. CLIPS is a development tool for expert system and has public inference engine and utilities. However, skilled programming is needed to run CLIPS on Windows 95, and proper interfaces for knowledge engineers or end-users who do not have good programming ability should be developed. Therefore, the user-friendly interfaces including htitle, hmenu, hyesno, htextdisplay, and hrun were developed and added to CLIPS. The intefaces were excuted in command-line mode of CLIPS on Windows 95. Also, htitle and hmenu can display graphic files for expert system users comprehension. An expert system was constructed using the interfaces and examples were displayed.

In spite of the importance that MIS researchers place in Expert Systems, there is no agreement as to whether Schools of Business should include this topic in their curriculum. To answer this question, this study presents a survey of the use and impacts of Expert Systems in Organizations. The study also assesses the impact of training on users ' perceptions and use of Expert Systems. The survey indicates that Expert Systems are being used in several areas of industry and that Business schools would serve their student body better by exposing thenm to these tools. The study also reviews the alternatizes used by IBM MoIS Grant Schools for incorporating Expert Systems in their curriculum. A discussion of the cases where each alternative would be more appropriate is included.

There are more than five dozen different RP(rapid prototyping) systems in the world and they are fairly expensive. All those systems have different capabilities and requirements in that each of them gives different tolerance, application field and part strength, etc. This situation may cause a problem of selecting an appropriate RP system. This paper presents an expert system, utilizing an algorithm that is composed up of rules to derive recommendations and answers to queries of the RP users. The expert system incorporates RP machines commercially available and adopts multi-selection criteria, namely, machine price, accuracy, build size, adopted process, etc. In the expert system, forward reasoning method is adopted and external spreadsheet for sub-data of the RP systems is used. The rules and knowledge are obtained from interviews and discussions with RP vendors and users, appropriate research publications and other reference materials.

Trouble shooting of modern machine tools equipped with sophisticated electronic as well as mechanical parts is so difficult that it is usually depends upon the experience and accumulated knowledge of the diagnosing persons. On the other hand, tool users are scattered in wide area, which makes it expensive for a machine tool maker to run a vast service network. An unmanned diagnosis system to which users can have access at all times could be an efficient alternative. For this purpose, a rule-based expert system for diagnosing machine tools is developed. This paper describes the structure of diagnostic knowledge, the rule firing mechanism, the diagnosis flow, and user query process. An example shows the feasibility of problem solving on site without help of a service expert from machine tool maker.

This study was conducted to develop the NutriSonic Web Expert System for Meal Management and Nutrition Counseling with Analysis of User's Nutritive Changes of selected days and food exchange information with easy data transition. This program manipulates a food, menu and meal and search database that has been developed. Also, the system provides a function to check the user's nutritive change of selected days. Users can select a recommended general and therapeutic menu using this system. NutriSonic can analyze nutrients and e-food exchange ("e" means the food exchange data base calculated by a computer program) in menus and meals. The expert can insert and store a meal database and generate the synthetic information of age, sex and therapeutic purpose of disease. With investigation and analysis of the user's needs, the meal planning program on the internet has been continuously developed. Users are able to follow up their nutritive changes with nutrient information and ratio of 3 major energy nutrients. Also, users can download another data format like Excel files (.xls) for analysis and verify their nutrient time-series analysis. The results of analysis are presented quickly and accurately. Therefore it can be used by not only usual people, but also by dietitians and nutritionists who take charge of making a menu and experts in the field of food and nutrition. It is expected that the NutriSonic Web Expert System can be useful for nutrition education, nutrition counseling and expert meal management.

This paper proposes how to build an expert profile database in KMS, which provides the information of expertise that each expert possesses in the organization. To manage tacit knowledge in a knowledge management system, recent researches in this field have shown that it is more applicable in many ways to provide expert search mechanisms in KMS to pinpoint experts in the organizations with searched expertise so that users can contact them for help. In this paper, we develop a framework to automate expert classification using a text categorization technique called Vector Space Model, through which an expert database composed of all the compiled profile information is built. This approach minimizes the maintenance cost of manual expert profiling while eliminating the possibility of incorrectness and obsolescence resulted from subjective manual processing. Also, we define the structure of expertise so that we can implement the expert classification framework to build an expert database in KMS. The developed prototype system, "Knowledge Portal for Researchers in Science and Technology," is introduced to show the applicability of the proposed framework.

Lots of the agricultural information come from human experiences and are in non-numerical forms. Therefore, it is difficult to process to be processed in a conventional data processing way. An internet expert system for agricultural application using the ASP(active server page) was developed to solve this problem and consisted of databases, an inference engine, and an user interface. The databases were composed of rule base, question base and link data. The inference engine was developed with the ASP for connection with web between databases. The used interface was developed with the CGI(common gateway interface), so that question could be answered on a web browser, and the session technique was used to provide proper result to each of multi-users. A prototype internet expert system was developed for diagnosis of diseases and nutritional disorders of paddy rice. The expert system was interactively worked through WWW(world wide web) at remote sites by multi-users, even at the same time. The rule base could be easily updated and modified from a web server computer by a knowledge engineer.

지하수 오염처리에 관한 문제는 수공학 이외에도 지질학, 화학, 독극물학 등의 전문지식이 요구된다는 점에서 Expert System(이하 ES)가 설계되기에 이상적인 환경을 지니고 있는 분야이다. 본 연구의 목적은 오염물질로 오염된 지하수의 처리에 대한 조언과 그것에 대한 추적을 위한 소프트웨어의 개발에 있다. Prolog 언어를 사용하여 개발된 이 프로그램은 현장 실무자에게 독극성의 정도와 화학반응의 축연성, 특정지점의 농도계산을 통하여 현 상황에 대한 심각성의 정도와 대응책을 조언하게 된다.
