Many computer system; (or program;) have been desigoc>d without taking their users needs into accOlmt To provide a practical and comprehensive introduction to the design and development of user interfaces, desigrer (or developer) is suggested to analyze and evaluate requirements from the view point of users and to design more effective program;. The su~ect of this thesis is to analyze and criticize tre details of Wonder-land, that is a demo multimedia ill-ROM title, in respect to User Interface Design and Development. By applying the coocepts, teclmiques and ideas to a real life study and analyzing and criticizing it from the view point of users, desigrer lets the program revised and developed by users. For User Interface Design and Development purposes this tresis analyzes and criticize the characteristics of the program already made, the current user interface design, mental models and users learning about the program. As a result it is founded that the program requires to be analyzing and criticizing continuously from a cognitive point of view to design and develop it successfully.

In this study, a method that can objectively and systematically design the layout of user interface components was developed. In order to explain its application method, the method was applied to the layout design of facsimile. In particular, in order to validate the suitability of the method, comparison tests were performed for the case of facsimile. Computer simulators for layout design were made using Micromedia Flash and comparison evaluation for an existing layout and a new layout was performed in three aspects. The first comparison method was to measure and compare its movement distance when carrying out a task in two layout models. The second one was to measure and compare users' performance. The last one was to measure and compare users' subjective satisfaction after using two models. As the result, new layout design was better than the existing design in all comparison tests. The movement distance of the new layout design model was shorter than the existing model. And, its performance including task completion time and error frequency was better and users' satisfaction was higher than the existing. In conclusion, the method that was developed in this study can be very effectively used in the layout design of user interface components.

This paper describes a Voice User Interface(VUI) method and a design guideline tool which supports the studies for domestic appliance. This issue covers specification of user requirement and selection of appropriate VUI to represent speech generation. The criteria for paper is interaction design to enhance user engagement. The studies were carried out to measure prototype of domestic appliance such as a refrigerator, a washing machine, a Gimchi refrigerator, an oven range, a dishwasher and an air conditioner. This paper is presented a study of user preferences and suitability. The results of these findings to voice interface design are discussed and it is suggested that VUI guideline and optimal prototyping can provide a useful application tools in the design process.

Due to rapid computerization of many consumer electric products, user interface of digital products comes an important issue for the user satisfaction. Although Menu Driven Interface are frequently employed for user interfaces on many digital products, there still exists many problems. This study attempts to apply to usability guideline digital camera through the review. And the study also an alternative devises design for digital product menu interface. The general type design guidelines include menu depth/breadth, information architecture, categorize and consistency among design components.

The University's web library is a form of library that enables to deal with information about searching loaning, returning of books or data housed in it through web. With the advent of the network and multimedia following the entrance to an information-oriented society, we are experiencing a big change in how to communicate and acquire information. Massive multimedia information transmitted by image and moving picture through the network, made it possible to overstep the limit of the physical gap between information suppliers and users. Despite this important role, it is accompanied by problems such as copyright, scarcity of recognition, paralysis of infra, technical matters and reliability which demand development. In this thesis, according to the State University Evaluation Standards, search node and user interface by system used in 20 different universities possessing web-based library sites were compared are analysed. On the basis of this, an experimental user interface for web-based University libraries was produced, and various questionnaires and data leer this produced interface were collected, classified and analyzed. With the application of the results for the work above to the general search system interface of the web-based library, we proposed a new user interface that contains the following functions, such as location and loan condition of books, search frequency and steps for purchasing books inside the web library.
