Stylized Image Generation based on Music-image Synesthesia Emotional Style Transfer using CNN Network

  • Emotional style of multimedia art works are abstract content information. This study aims to explore emotional style transfer method and find the possible way of matching music with appropriate images in respect to emotional style. DCNNs (Deep Convolutional Neural Networks) can capture style and provide emotional style transfer iterative solution for affective image generation. Here, we learn the image emotion features via DCNNs and map the affective style on the other images. We set image emotion feature as the style target in this style transfer problem, and held experiments to handle affective image generation of eight emotion categories, including dignified, dreaming, sad, vigorous, soothing, exciting, joyous, and graceful. A user study was conducted to test the synesthesia emotional image style transfer result with ground truth user perception triggered by the music-image pairs' stimuli. The transferred affective image result for music-image emotional synesthesia perception was proved effective according to user study result.

Music information and musical propensity analysis, and music recommendation system using collaborative filtering (음악정보와 음악적 성향 분석 및 협업 필터링을 이용한 음악추천시스템)

  • Mobile music market is growing. However, services what are applied recently are inaccurate to recommend music that a user is worth to prefer. So, this paper suggests music recommend system. This system recommend music that users prefer analyzing music information and user's musical propensity and using collaborative filtering. This system classify genre and extract factors what can be get using STFT's ZCR, Spectral roll-off, Spectral flux. So similar musics are clustered by these factors. And then, after divide mood of music's lyric, it finally recommend music automatically using collaborative filtering.

A Study on User Willingness of Intelligent Music Platform Based on TAM Model

  • In this paper, we propose to study the factors affecting the user's intention to use smart music platform, and on the basis of studying the impact of service quality on the user's intention to use, such as perceived usability, perceived ease, perceived entertainment and perceived cost, respectively. Based on this, the impact factors model on the usage intention of smart music platform users was presented, and 398 questionnaires were collected through a survey of university students majoring in Chinese music, and the collected data were obtained by conducting frequency analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model analysis using spss20.0 and amos20.0. The results show that: Quality of service has a positive effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived entertainment and perceived cost. A study found that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived entertainment have a positive effect on users' intention of use and perceived cost has a negative effect on their intention of use. Through this conclusion, the entrepreneur presented an important meaning in promoting sustainable development of smart music platforms by improving the operation and profit model of smart music platforms.

  • Recently, demands for leisure and performing arts are increasing. In perspective of enjoying culture away from every day life, interests for music festival are also growing. Music festival industry has been grown rapidly since the mid 2000s and it has become popular culture especially for younger generation. As music festival culture becomes popular, music festival becomes bigger and a number of participants are rising continuously. However, some services which music festivals provide are not interactive. So, it makes difficult users to feel festival experience and to satisfy. Although some festivals are trying to deal with things through mobile applications, those in the market showed weaknesses. Therefore, this study aims to suggest some improvements for music festival application through user research. As the result of user study, improvements and functions of music festival application were deducted.

  • The current settlement and distribution used in theme, background and signal music market other than conventional music is being carried out with either the comprehensive settlement method or the measured meter-rate settlement method in the payment process of collected user fees and compensation depending on the use-permission types. In this settlement and distribution process, however, the reliability issues are often being raised because of the difficulty of tracking rights due to changes in music source rights management information, etc, and the opaque settlement and distribution method itself. This paper proposes a new settlement and distribution platform using a blockchain for the reliable collection and distribution of copyright fees among music user group, monitoring organization group, trust organization group and copyright holders, based on the monitoring information of the theme, background and signal music usage. This platform also provides the transparency in settlement and distribution process among stakeholders through smart contract system.

  • In this paper, research results on the change of music emotion are described. Our gaol was to provide a method of changing music emotion by a human user. Then we tried to find a way of transforming the contents of the original music into the music whose emotion is similar with the changed emotion. For the purpose, a method of changing the emotion of playing music on two-dimensional plan was describe. Then the original music should be transformed into the music which emotion would be equal to the changed emotion. As the first step a method of deciding which music factors and how much should be changed was presented. Finally the experimental method of editing by sound editor for changing the emotion was described. There are so many research results on the recognition of music emotion. But the try of changing the music emotion is very rare. So this paper would open another way of doing research on music emotion field.

  • The appearance of various mobile Internet environment access to existing networks of mobile devices is easier to tell. In addition, mobile device users to use the wireless environment than a wired environment, user profile information is readily available features. Mobile devices have features that use alone. These characteristics of mobile devices to apply the personalization service is the best system. This paper proposes for mobile device users a personalized mobile music content recommendation service. This service propose to utilizes the user's access history information using time-weighting and collaborative filtering. Access history information can find out information of user interest. Using this information, consider the preference of music genre and time-weighted based on the recommendations makes the music. This method the problem of the traditional music recommendation system, point user's favorite music genre is changing over time do not consider that to solve the problem.

A Study on "A Midsummer Night's Palace" Using VR Sound Engineering Technology

  • VR (Virtual Reality) contents make the audience perceive virtual space as real through the virtual Z axis which creates a space that could not be created in 2D due to the space between the eyes of the audience. This visual change has led to the need for technological changes to sound and sound sources inserted into VR contents. However, studies to increase immersion in VR contents are still more focused on scientific and visual fields. This is because composing and producing VR sounds require professional views in two areas: sound-based engineering and computer-based interactive sound engineering. Sound-based engineering is difficult to reflect changes in user interaction or time and space by directing the sound effects, script sound, and background music according to the storyboard organized by the director. However, it has the advantage of producing the sound effects, script sound, and background music in one track and not having to go through the coding phase. Computer-based interactive sound engineering, on the other hand, is produced in different files, including the sound effects, script sound, and background music. It can increase immersion by reflecting user interaction or time and space, but it can also suffer from noise cancelling and sound collisions. Therefore in this study, the following methods were devised and utilized to produce sound for VR contents called "A Midsummer Night" so as to take advantage of each sound-making technology. First, the storyboard is analyzed according to the user's interaction. It is to analyze sound effects, script sound, and background music which is required according to user interaction. Second, the sounds are classified and analyzed as 'simultaneous sound' and 'individual sound'. Thirdly, work on interaction coding for sound effects, script sound, and background music that were produced from the simultaneous sound and individual time sound categories is done. Then, the contents are completed by applying the sound to the video. By going through the process, sound quality inhibitors such as noise cancelling can be removed while allowing sound production that fits to user interaction and time and space.

Automatic Composition Algorithm based on Fractal Tree (프랙탈 트리를 이용한 자동 작곡 방법)

  • In this paper, we suggest new music composition algorithm based on fractal theory. User can define and control fractal shape by setting an initial state and production rules in L-System. We generate an asymmetric fractal tree based on L-System and probability. Then a music is generated by the fractal tree image using sonification techniques. We introduce two composition algorithm using the fractal tree. First, monophonic music can be generated by mapping x and y axis to velocity and pitch, respectively Second, harmonic music also can be generated by mapping x and y axis to time and pitch, respectively Using our composition algorithm, user can easily generate a music which has repeated pattern created by recursive feature of fractal, and a music which has structure similar to fractal tree image.

  • In this paper, a method for providing musics in vehicle user's bio-rhythm is proposed. The proposed method is a method to select and play musics automatically suitable for the user's emotion. Experimental results confirmed that the proposed method could provide better satisfaction to the users (drivers) compared to the methods given randomly.
