Cooperative Opportunistic Beamforming for OCI Mitigation in Correlated Multi-User MISO Cellular System (채널 상관도가 존재하는 다중 사용자 MISO 환경에서 인접 셀 간섭 제거를 위한 협력 기회적 빔포밍 기법)

  • We consider cooperative opportunistic beamforming that can mitigate the other cell interference (OCI) in correlated multi-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) cellular environments. By only exploiting the spatial channel information of adjacent cells, the proposed scheme generates the cooperative random beam that statistically avoids the OCI from adjacent cells. Each cell selects a user in an opportunistic manner. Thus, the proposed scheme can simultaneously achieve the multi-user diversity (MUD) gain and the OCI avoidance gain.

  • Predicting the preferences of users and providing the personalized services/products based on users' preferences is one of the important issues. However, the research considering users' preferences on context-aware computing is a relatively insufficient research field. Hence, this paper aims to propose a framework for providing the personalized services based on context history in context-aware computing. Based on this framework, we have implemented a prototype system to show the feasibility of the framework. Previous researches have reasoned the preferences of the user considering only the user's input, but this research provides the personalized services using the relationship between users' profile and services.

  • This research investigates a kill probability model for the performance evaluation of guided missile system, and also develops graphical user interface for the input and output of the model based on the visual object-oriented programming application. The major simulation events used in this research are missile guidance homing point, burst points, and kill mechanism(direct kill, blast kill and fragment kill). For the user interface, we also design and implement the visualization system that can show the graphic style of the kill probability attained by the model. The results of sample run are shown, but these could be improved to be better with visual simulation which can visulaize all the simulation process of the model.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient decision rule in order to get better chance to detect the unused spectrum assigned to a licensed user and improve reliability of spectrum sensing performance. Each secondary user receives the signals from the licensed user. And the resulting signals input to an energy detector. Then, each sensing result is combined and used to make a decision whether the primary user is present at the licensed spectrum band or not. In order to make the reliable decision, we apply an efficient decision rule that is called as a majority rule in this paper. The simulation results show that spectrum sensing performance with the proposed decision rule is more reasonable and efficient than that with conventional decision rules.

  • The first stage for computer security is password. If security of password is impotent even constructing of perfect fire-wall, fire-wall is not anything but a good-for-nothing. Because management of password is depend upon an end-user rather than a system-manager, carelessness of password management is an inevitable result. It is a reason that an end-user is actually not able to manage a high-difficulty-password. In this paper, algorithm of password is improved to be difficult of hacking, having a existing password input pattern for an end-user.

  • In order to provide the convenient access to the mobile services and the efficient utilization of the mobile devices, it is required to devise an intelligent user interface which guarantees the efficient task selection and transition in the limited input/output environments of the mobile devices. In this paper, we propose user task prediction models which are essential for the intelligent user interface, and an accuracy estimation model is also proposed for evaluating the prediction models.

Resolving Hand Region Occlusion in Tangible Augmented Reality Envrionments (감각형 증강현실 환경에서의 손 가림 현상 해결 방안)

  • In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments for virtual prototyping, the user interacts with virtual products by manipulating tangible objects with his or her hands, but the user often encounter awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by augmented virtual objects, which reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. In this paper, we present how to resolve such hand region occlusion in order to enhance natural interaction and immersive visualization. In the AR environment considered, we use two types (product-type and pointer-type) of tangible objects for tangible user interaction with a virtual product of interest. Holding the tangible objects with his or her hands, the user can create input events by touching specified regions of the product-type tangible object with the pointer-type tangible object. We developed a method for resolving hand region occlusion frequently arising during such user interaction, It first detect hand region in a real image and refines the rendered image of the virtual object by subtracting the hand region from the rendered image, Then, it superimposes the refined image onto the real image to obtain an image in which the occlusion is resolved. Incorporated into tangible AR interaction for virtual prototyping of handheld products such as cellular phones and MP3 players, the method has been found by a preliminary user study that it is not only useful to improve natural interaction and immersive visualization of virtual products, but also helpful for making the users experience the products' shapes and functions better.

  • Nowadays, various researches fulfill in many communication engineering area for B4G (Beyond Forth Generation). Next LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced), MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multi Input Multi Output) method raises to upgrade throughput performance. However, the method of user selection is not decided because of many types and discussions in MU-MIMO system. Many existing methods are powerful for enhancing performance but have various restrictions in practical implementation. Fairness problem is primary restriction in this area. Existing papers emphasis algorithm to increase sum-rate but we introduce an algorithm about dealing with fairness problem for real commercialization implementation. Therefore, this paper introduces new user selection method in MU-MIMO system. This method overcomes a fairness problem in SUS (Semiorthogonal User Selection) algorithm. We can use the method to get a similar sum-rate with SUS and a high fairness performance. And this paper uses a hybrid method with SC-SUS (Superposition Coding SUS) algorithm and SUS algorithm. We find a threshold value of optimal performance by experimental method. We show this performance by computer simulation with MATLAB and analysis that results. And we compare the results with another paper's that different way to solve fairness problem.

A User-driven Visual Occlusion Method for Measuring the Visual Demand of In-Vehicle Information Systems (IVIS) (차내 정보 시스템의 시각적 요구 평가를 위한 사용자 주도의 시각 차폐 기법)

  • Visual occlusion method is a visual demand measuring technique which uses periodic vision/occlusion cycle to simulate driving environment. It became one of the most popular techniques for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces due to its robustness and cost-effectiveness. However, it has a limitation in that the vision/occlusion cycle forces the user to use the IVIS at a predetermined pace, while a driver decides when to use the device on his/her own in actual driving. This paper proposes a user-driven visual occlusion method for measuring the visual demand of in-vehicle interfaces. An experiment was conducted to examine the visual demand of an in-vehicle interface prototype using both the existing (system-driven) occlusion method and the proposed (user-driven) one. Two in-vehicle tasks were evaluated: address input and radio tuning. The results showed that, for the radio tuning task, there were significant differences in total shutter open time and resumability ratio between the methods. The user-driven visual occlusion method not only allows a better representation of drivers' behavior, but it also seems to provide more information on the chunkability of a task.

A Study of a Virtual Reality Interface of Person Search in Multimedia Database for the US Defense Industry (미국 방위산업체 상황실의 인물검색 활동을 돕는 가상현실 공간 인터페이스 환경에 관한 연구)

  • This paper introduces an efficient and satisfactory search interface that enables users to browse and find the video data they want from a massively huge video database widely used in various multimedia environment. The target user group is information analysts at US defense industry or governmental intelligence agencies whose job is to identify a certain person from a lot of video footage taken from CCTV(Closed-circuit Television) cameras. For the first user test, we suggested the CAVE-like virtual reality interface to be the most optimal for the tasks we designed for, so we compared this interface with desktop interface. The softwares and database developed and optimized for each task were used in this user test. For the second user test, we researched on what input devices would be most optimal for enhancing efficiency of search task in the CAVE-like virtual reality system. Especially we focused our effort on measuring the effectiveness and user satisfaction of three different types of devices that embody gestural interface input system that encourages users' ergonomic control of the interface. We also measured the time consumed for performing each task to find out the most efficient input device among the ones tested.
