  • 본 논문은 안드로이드기반 모바일 보완대체의사소통시스템(AAC)의 기능 및 사용자인터페이스(UI)에 대한 사용성 평가에 대한 것이다. 시나리오를 사용한 평가를 통해 특정 기능실행의 용이성, 기능사용의 만족도, 정보찾기의 용이성 등을 살펴보았고, 설문조사를 통해 모바일 AAC의 개발목적, 내용, 교수학습 전략, 활용가능성, 편집/설정 기능과 사용자인터페이스 등이 무발화아동의 의사소통 요구에 적합한지를 평가하였으며, 자유 피드백을 통하여 사용자의 선호도, 만족도, 요구분석 사항 등에 대한 피드백들을 조사하고 분석하였다. 또한 5인치, 7인치, 4.3인치의 모바일 기기를 사용하여 다양한 크기의 안드로이드기반 모바일 기기에 대한 사용자의 선호도를 조사하였다.

RSSI 측정결과 필터링을 이용한 거리계산 보정 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on Distance Calculation Revision Algorithm using the Filtering of RSSI Measurement Results)

  • 본 논문에서 제안하는 실내 위치기반서비스는 움직이는 사용자를 대상으로 하였다. 실외환경에서 GPS를 이용한 위치 측위는 정확하지만 실내 환경에서는 위치 측위가 부정확하고 어려움이 있다. 이를 극복하기 위해 Wi-Fi, Zigbee, 블루투스 등의 무선 통신 기술을 기반으로 위치 측위를 위한 다양한 기술들의 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 비콘의 송출 신호인 RSSI 값을 이용하여 거리에 따른 RSSI 값을 측정하여 데이터 베이스화하였다. 원거리에서 측정되는 RSSI 값의 오차를 줄이기 위해 RSSI 평균 필터링과 RSSI Feedback 필터링에 대한 계산 값을 산출 적용하였다. 평균 필터링과 계수 값을 0.5로 설정한 Feedback 필터링을 통하여 불규칙하고 높은 RSSI 값이 다소 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며, 거리계산 보정 알고리즘을 통해 거리가 증가함에 따른 오차의 범위가 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 최종적으로 RSSI 측정결과 필터링을 이용해 불안정한 신호를 보정하고 오차 범위를 줄이기 위해 거리계산 보정 알고리즘을 시행하였다.

A Pseudo-Random Beamforming Technique for Time-Synchronized Mobile Base Stations with GPS Signal

  • This paper proposes a pseudo-random beamforming technique for time-synchronized mobile base stations (BSs) for multi-cell downlink networks which have mobility. The base stations equipped with multi-antennas and mobile stations (MSs) are time-synchronized based on global positioning system (GPS) signals and generate a number of transmit beamforming matrix candidates according to the predetermined pseudo-random pattern. In addition, MSs generate receive beamforming vectors that correspond to the beam index number based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) using transmit beamforming vectors that make up a number of transmit beamforming matrices and wireless channel matrices from BSs estimated via the reference signals (RS). Afterward, values of received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) with regard to all transmit beamforming vectors are calculated, and the resulting values are then feedbacked to the BS of the same cells along with the beam index number. Each of the BSs calculates each of the sum-rates of the transmit beamforming matrix candidates based on the feedback information and then transmits the calculated results to the BS coordinator. After this, optimum transmit beamforming matrices, which can maximize a sum-rate of the entire cells, are selected at the BS coordinator and informed to the BSs. Finally, data signals are transmitted using them. The simulation results verified that a sum-rate of the entire cells was improved as the number of transmit beamforming matrix candidates increased. It was also found that if the received SINR values and beam index numbers are feedbacked opportunistically from each of the MSs to the BSs, not only nearly the same performance in sum-rate with that of applying existing feedback techniques could be achieved but also an amount of feedback was significantly reduced.

Simulink 기반 다채널 디지털 보청기 알고리즘 개발 플랫폼 구현 (Implementation of Multichannel Digital Hearing Aid Algorithm Development Platform using Simulink)

  • 본 논문에서는 Matlab에서 제공하는 Simulink를 활용하여 다채널 디지털 보청기 알고리즘 개발 플랫폼의 구현을 제안하였다. 디지털 보청기는 난청자의 원활한 의사소통을 돕는 의료기구로 그 중요성이 날로 증가하고 있다. 특히 다채널 디지털 보청기는 난청자의 주파수 별 청력 손실 정도에 따른 보상이 가능해 고막의 손상을 최소화하는 동시에 보청기 사용자에게 적합한 증폭이 가능해진다. 본 논문에서 구현한 개발 플랫폼은 WOLA 필터뱅크를 이용해 입력 신호의 분석 및 합성이 이루어지며 광역동범위압축(Wide Dynamic ragne compression) 기반의 난청 보상 알고리즘, 적응 필터를 이용한 음향 궤환 제거 알고리즘(Adaptive feedback cancellation)을 포함한다. Simulink를 이용한 개발 플랫폼에서 각 블록의 파라미터를 설정 할 수 있고 블록별 결과가 확인이 가능하다. 이를 이용해 기계어 코딩 전 단계에서 알고리즘 테스트가 가능하기 때문에 보청기 알고리즘의 개발 시간이 단축 가능하고 계산량 및 성능 최적화가 가능해졌다.

  • One of the latest fields of research in the area of output devices is tactual display devices [13,31]. These tactual or haptic devices allow the user to receive haptic feedback output from a variety of sources. This allows the user to actually feel virtual objects and manipulate them by touch. This is an emerging technology and will be instrumental in enhancing the realism of wearable augmented environments for certain applications. Tactual displays have previously been used for scientific visualization in virtual environments by chemists and engineers to improve perception and understanding of force fields and of world models populated with the impenetrable. In addition to tactual displays, the use of wearable audio displays that allow sound to be spatialized are being developed. With wearable computers, designers will soon be able to pair spatialized sound to virtual representations of objects when appropriate to make the wearable computer experience even more realistic to the user. Furthermore, as the number and complexity of wearable computing applications continues to grow, there will be increasing needs for systems that are faster, lighter, and have higher resolution displays. Better networking technology will also need to be developed to allow all users of wearable computers to have high bandwidth connections for real time information gathering and collaboration. In addition to the technology advances that make users need to wear computers in everyday life, there is also the desire to have users want to wear their computers. In order to do this, wearable computing needs to be unobtrusive and socially acceptable. By making wearables smaller and lighter, or actually embedding them in clothing, users can conceal them easily and wear them comfortably. The military is currently working on the development of the Personal Information Carrier (PIC) or digital dog tag. The PIC is a small electronic storage device containing medical information about the wearer. While old military dog tags contained only 5 lines of information, the digital tags may contain volumes of multi-media information including medical history, X-rays, and cardiograms. Using hand held devices in the field, medics would be able to call this information up in real time for better treatment. A fully functional transmittable device is still years off, but this technology once developed in the military, could be adapted tp civilian users and provide ant information, medical or otherwise, in a portable, not obstructive, and fashionable way. Another future device that could increase safety and well being of its users is the nose on-a-chip developed by the Oak Ridge National Lab in Tennessee. This tiny digital silicon chip about the size of a dime, is capable of 'smelling' natural gas leaks in stoves, heaters, and other appliances. It can also detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. This device can also be configured to notify the fire department when a leak is detected. This nose chip should be commercially available within 2 years, and is inexpensive, requires low power, and is very sensitive. Along with gas detection capabilities, this device may someday also be configured to detect smoke and other harmful gases. By embedding this chip into workers uniforms, name tags, etc., this could be a lifesaving computational accessory. In addition to the future safety technology soon to be available as accessories are devices that are for entertainment and security. The LCI computer group is developing a Smartpen, that electronically verifies a user's signature. With the increase in credit card use and the rise in forgeries, is the need for commercial industries to constantly verify signatures. This Smartpen writes like a normal pen but uses sensors to detect the motion of the pen as the user signs their name to authenticate the signature. This computational accessory should be available in 1999, and would bring increased peace of mind to consumers and vendors alike. In the entertainment domain, Panasonic is creating the first portable hand-held DVD player. This device weight less than 3 pounds and has a screen about 6' across. The color LCD has the same 16:9 aspect ratio of a cinema screen and supports a high resolution of 280,000 pixels and stereo sound. The player can play standard DVD movies and has a hour battery life for mobile use. To summarize, in this paper we presented concepts related to the design and use of wearable computers with extensions to smart spaces. For some time, researchers in telerobotics have used computer graphics to enhance remote scenes. Recent advances in augmented reality displays make it possible to enhance the user's local environment with 'information'. As shown in this paper, there are many application areas for this technology such as medicine, manufacturing, training, and recreation. Wearable computers allow a much closer association of information with the user. By embedding sensors in the wearable to allow it to see what the user sees, hear what the user hears, sense the user's physical state, and analyze what the user is typing, an intelligent agent may be able to analyze what the user is doing and try to predict the resources he will need next or in the near future. Using this information, the agent may download files, reserve communications bandwidth, post reminders, or automatically send updates to colleagues to help facilitate the user's daily interactions. This intelligent wearable computer would be able to act as a personal assistant, who is always around, knows the user's personal preferences and tastes, and tries to streamline interactions with the rest of the world.

웹 정보 검색 환경에서의 사용자 기호 학습 (Learning User Preferences in Web Information Retrieval)

  • 본 논문은 웹 기반의 정보 여과 시스템인 WAIR을 이용하여 사용자의 기호를 학습하는 방법을 설명한다. 제시된 방법은 여과된 문서들에 대한 사용자의 반응을 관찰하여 각 개인 사용자의 프로파일을 학습한다. 사용자의 기호를 가장 잘 표현하는 단어들을 찾는데 강화 학습을 사용하였다. 기존의 방법은 사용자의 명시적인 적합성 평가(relevance feedback)를 이용하여 검색 또는 여과 성능을 향상시킨 반면 제시된 방법은 사용자의 기호를 묵시적 적합성 평가를 통해 학습한다. 여과된 문서에 대한 사용자의 행동을 통해 사용자의 명시적 평가를 추측하는 것이다. 약 7,000 여개의 HTML 문서에 대해 7명의 사용자가 약 4주 동안 실제 웹을 대상으로 웹 문서 여과 실험을 실시하였다. 제시된 방법은 기존의 적합성 평가를 이용한 정보 여과 방법보다 각 개인에게 보다 적절한 정보를 제시하였다.

Force Arrow: An Efficient Pseudo-Weight Perception Method

  • Virtual object weight perception is an important topic, as it heightens the believability of object manipulation in immersive virtual environments. Although weight perception can be achieved using haptic interfaces, their technical complexity makes them difficult to apply in immersive virtual environments. In this study, we present a visual pseudo-haptic feedback system that simulates and depicts the weights of virtual objects, the effect of which is weight perception. The proposed method recognizes grasping and manipulating hand motions using computer vision-based tracking methods, visualizing a Force Arrow to indicate the current lifting forces and its difference from the standard lifting force. With the proposed Force Arrow method, a user can more accurately perceive the logical and unidirectional weight and therefore control the force used to lift a virtual object. In this paper, we investigate the potential of the proposed method in discriminating between different weights of virtual objects.

Health and Wellness Monitoring Using Intelligent Sensing Technique

  • This work develops a monitoring system for the population with health concerns. A belt integrated with an on-body circuit and sensors measures a wearer's selected vital signals. The electrocardiogram sensors monitor heart conditions and an accelerometer assesses the level of physical activity. Sensed signals are transmitted to the circuit module through digital yarns and are forwarded to a mobile device via Bluetooth. An interactive application, installed on the mobile device, is used to process the received signals and provide users with real-time feedback about their status. Persuasive functions are designed and implemented in the interactive application to encourage users' physical activity. Two signal processing algorithms are developed to analyze the data regarding heart and activity. A user study is conducted to evaluate the performance and usability of the developed system.

모바일 인스턴스 메신저를 활용한 자동화 커뮤니케이션 시스템 설계 및 구현 (The Design and Implementation of Automatic Communication System using Mobile Instant Messenger)

  • In this paper, concerning the various advertising and policy advertising of the election with respect to whether to deliver a message to a large number of people, we design and implement an automative system what enables sending the text messages directly from the server to the client and also fast feedback is enabled by utilizing a number of operational programs to connect to the server. Therefore, we design and implement the automative communication system which enables delivering message to each user mobile terminal from a plurality of relay mobile terminals by utilizing the mobile instant messenger, not to deliver a message from the server to the mobile instant messenger user directly. In result of comparative analysis on the number of times of data transmission, this automative communication system utilizing mobile instant messenger shows the result that it enables transmitting five times per minute as it can copy and paste in the automation system regardless of the size of the data loading, otherwise in case of transmitting manually it show the result that the number of times of data transmission is reduced if the size of the data is larger.

WCDMA 시스템의 단말기측 time tracker 설계 및 구현 (On the user equipment (UE) side time tracker design and implementation of the WCDMA system)

  • 본 연구는wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) 단말기 복조기의 주요 구성 요소인 time tracker의 구현과 설계 parameter 설정에 관한 것이다. Time tracker는 2차 feedback loop로 구성되었고 모의실험을 통하여time error detector (TED)의 이득을 기지국이 송출하는 전체 전력에서 CPICH 전력이 차지하는 비의 함수로 도출하였다. Loop filter, numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) 설계를 포함한 time tracker의 전달함수를 구하였다. 모의실험을 통하여 기지국과 단말 사이의 clock time offset, loop bandwidth를 매개변수로 하여 DPCH 전력에 따른 bit error rate (BER)를 구하였고 이를 근거로 통신 환경에 따라 설정해 주어야 할 적합한 이득 값을 제시하였다.
