  • The mobile application market has grown over the past decade since the advent of smartphones, making it the largest market for electronic device software. As competition intensifies in the mobile application market, the impact of application evaluations on the consumption and usage patterns of users has also significantly increased. Therefore, research has been conducted on measures to evaluate mobile applications, but most of the research has relied on qualitative methods such as expert-centered interviews or surveys. In addition, evaluation measures are being constructed from the service provider's perspective, not from the service user's perspective. However, the possibility of application-specific analyses that minimize the subjectivity of researchers is growing, as large amounts of user review data enable quantitative analysis of actual users' assessment of applications. Therefore, this study presents a methodology that can complement current problems with existing quality assessments for mobile applications by utilizing user review data. To this end, the Topic Modeling technique LDA (Latent Dirichlet allocation) is applied in order to elucidate ways to improve existing evaluation measures from a user's perspective. The study is expected to reduce bias in service assessment due to the subjectivity of service providers and researchers as well as provide a measure of assessment by area of mobile applications from a consumer perspective.

  • We are seeing a shift of the focus of information service from system-centered(data-centered or intermediary-centered) a n.0, pproach to user-centered a n.0, pproach. Sense-making theory is one of the user- centered a n.0, pproaches. This study focused on user-centered information service paradigm concepts of Dervin's sense-making theory and interpreting sense-making theory in the practical context of library services. The sense-making theory is basically a cognitive a n.0, pproach to information-seeking, in that it recognizes information as something that involves internal cognitive processes. The user of information becomes the focus in this sense-making model. The sense-making theory sees information as subjective, situational, and cognitive. It focuses on understanding information within specific contexts and on understanding how information needs develop and how they are satisfied. It regards the user not as a passive receive of external information but as the center in a active, ongoing process of change. It related to the information needs of users. Dervin's method for studying information needs employs the 'situation-gap-use' metaphor. All information needs stem from a discontinuity or 'gap! in one's knowledge. Dervin believes that information needs can be addressed by understanding the process that each individual goes through in experiencing a gap, in trying to resolve it, and in gaining something (especially new knowledge) from the experience. Sense-making is a process; 'sense' is the product of this process. Sense includes 'knowledge'. However, it includes a host of other subjective factors that reflect an individual's interpretations of a situation including intuitions, opinions, hunches, effective responses, evaluations, questions, etc. For several reasons, however, difficulties are encountered if one attempts a more substantial assessment of the theory. First, it has not yet crystallized into a well-defined theory. Secondly, though the theory has aroused general interest, e.g. within LIS, detailed discussion of its strong and weak points is still lacking. A third source of difficulty is that the basic assumptions of the theory have been explicated metaphorically. If sense-making theory is to be really useful, it needs to be interpreted for library settings. But we have found no attempt to construct an information service based on the theory. Because the research tradition is still relatively young, there are many unanswered questions connected, e.g. with the design of information systems. In any case, e.g. intermediary access systems would be more efficient and effective it their planning could be founded on the user-centered a n.0, pproach.

  • Vertical handoff is the process of maintaining a mobile user's active connections in the heterogeneous network. In vertical handoff, many frames can be lost since the connection between a server and a client is broken off during handoff latency. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose an effective video streaming method for video on demand (VOD) services that provides seamless playout at the client in vertical handoff. Performance evaluations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • As the Internet service is expanding rapidly, portal sites, a gateway tn the net, are attracting increasing attention these days. As the Internet service has expanded rapidly, so has the interest for portal sites,, which serve as a gateway to the net. Despite the tendency, however, research on a measure by which to evaluate the quality of portal sites or development of such measures has not been fully pursued. As online services, faced with profitability, are considering 'charge per view', the development of a set of quality evaluation measures for portal services will prove to become a valuable instrument in constructing competitive strategies that are vital for survival and growth of a firm. In that regard, this study aims to develop a set of evaluation measures for Internet portal sites by empirically investigating the most common offline measures for quality of services, SERVQUAL, retail SERVQUAL and other evaluation measures for IT-related online services. Moreover, the study offers the strategic implications of the defined measures.

  • Recently, Korea Highway Corporation has attemped to improve the highway safety in accordance with minimizing user's imconveniences. Currently, the Anti Skidding Pavement(ASP) has been introduced as a safety countermeasure on the safety frailty sections. In this study, a series of field evaluations on pavement skid resistance have been conducted on the skid frailty sections to analyze the effects and problems of the Anti Skidding Pavement (ASP), and to understand the behavior of pavement skid resistance due to pavement type, section characteristics, vehicles' speed and traffec volume. Test results show the Anti Skidding Pavement (ASP) has the effects to induce vehicles' speed reduction. However, there are no effects to increase skid resistance. According to these results, it is demanded to improve the applying method of current Anti Skidding Pavement (ASP) to devise an effective safety countermeasure for pavement skid, and to increase pavement skid resistance.

  • Information needs of users have been examined both generally and as they pertain to particular types and formats of information. Barriers to information have also been investigated, including those which are situational and also across certain domains and socioeconomic contexts. Unified studies concerning both information needs and barriers are needed. Both are likely always present in any given interactive search situation; further, users' attempts to satisfy their own individualized information needs will likely encounter barriers of some sort. The present study employed a survey method to collect users' perceptions of video information needs and barriers as part of recent video search situations. Findings from this analysis establish a unified framework, based on the themes emerging directly from the responses of users, and present the suitability and benefit for informing future designs and evaluations of user-centered interactive retrieval tools.

  • In recent years, sentiment analysis research has become popular. The research results of sentiment analysis have achieved remarkable results in practical applications, such as in Amazon's book recommendation system and the North American movie box office evaluation system. Analyzing big data based on user preferences and evaluations and recommending hot-selling books and hot-rated movies to users in a targeted manner greatly improve book sales and attendance rate in movies [1, 2]. However, traditional machine learning-based sentiment analysis methods such as the Classification and Regression Tree (CART), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbor classification (kNN) had performed poorly in accuracy. In this paper, an improved kNN classification method is proposed. Through the improved method and normalizing of data, the purpose of improving accuracy is achieved. Subsequently, the three classification algorithms and the improved algorithm were compared based on experimental data. Experiments show that the improved method performs best in the kNN classification method, with an accuracy rate of 11.5% and a precision rate of 20.3%.

  • Web 3.0 is a new web paradigm that aims to overcome the excessive commercialism and influence of big tech companies. Web 3.0 can be defined as a user-centered decentralized Internet environment, and Web 3.0 is a mixture of various terms and technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFT, artificial intelligence, and metaverse. When new technology fields emerge, it is common to have positive and negative evaluations. As a result, rather than deciding which position is correct, it is necessary to investigate the causes and directions of change and prepare to seize the opportunity. In light of this, the present study examines the change in the web paradigm and the context of the emergence of Web 3.0, investigates the characteristics and major cases of Web 3.0, and discusses future issues and prospects.

  • Until now, it is popular to use question-and-answer-based for human personality. The current inspection of representative personality types includes Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and job suitability evaluations. The problem of these inspection methods is influenced by the user's environment and psychological status during MBTI inspection. To solve this problem, we proposed MBTI Identification Model based on measuring bioelectricity patterns. We adapt traditional Korean medicine, the Eight Constitution, to this model. We develop an automatic MBTI identification algorithm that maps the Eight Constitution via biological current patterns to identify MBTI personality types. By utilizing the algorithm proposed in this research, it is anticipated that users will be able to measure MBTI more easily and accurately.

  • Recently, with the rapid development of internet and smart phones, social network services that can create and share various information through relationships among users have been actively used. Especially as the amount of information becomes enormous and unreliable information increases, expert recommendation that can offer necessary information to users have been studied. In this paper, we propose an expert recommendation scheme considering users' interests, human relations, and response quality. The users' interests are evaluated by analyzing their past activities in social network. The human relations are evaluated by extracting the users who have the same interesting fields. The response quality is evaluated by considering the user's response speed and response contents. The proposed scheme determines the user's expert score by combining the users' interests, the human relations, and the response quality. Finally, we recommend proper experts by matching queries and expert groups. It is shown through various performance evaluations that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes.
