  • According to development of internet and an increase in demand of multimedia contents, the contents industry is being developed. However, they are served same contents in the limited environment(user device environment, network environment) of the present contents industry. And users have difficulties in searching and finding contents since they are served contents they want and contents suitable to diverse context and affection. Therefore, it is necessary to make a system offering contents according to context and affection of users. The study proposes the system to offer contents suitable to context and affection of users whenever and wherever through diverse devices in a ubiquitous environment and designs/implementation a user device framework system that users can be offered contents suitable to their devices.

  • In this paper, we propose a framework to change local devices to networked devices by using web browser. Network devices will be used in the virtual desktop. Management software maintains a pool of devices to manage network devices. Whenever user's request is occured, virtual desktop s/w which manages desktop's I/O access device pool. Then virtual desktop s/w selects proper device and forwards I/O to desktop. In this paper, we choose RIA solution for install-free environment. Consequently, user easily enrolls and revokes their devices. User easily commands virtual desktop s/w. In the second half of this paper, we explain usage scenario and evaluate our framework to show efficiency and flexibility of the framework.

  • The recent technological developments of smart devices, multiple services are provided to enhance the users' quality of life including smart city, smart energy, smart car, smart healthcare, smart home, and so on. Academia and industries try to provide the users with convenient services upon seamless technological research and developments. Also, whenever and wherever a variety of services can be used without any limitation on the place and time upon connecting with different types of devices. However, security weaknesses due to integrations of multiple technological elements have been detected resulting in the leakage of user information, account hacking, and privacy leakage, threats to people's lives by device operation have been raised. In this paper, safer communication framework is suggested by device control and user authentication in the mobile network environment. After implementations of registration and authentication processes by users and devices, safe communication protocol is designed based on this. Also, renewal process is designed according to the safe control of the device. In the performance evaluation, safety was analyzed on the attack of protocol change weakness occurred in the existing system, service halt, data leakage, illegal operation control of message, and so on, which confirmed the enhanced speed approximately by 8% and 23% in the communication and verification parts, respectively, compared to the existing system.

  • Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) is a method of remotely storing and retrieving data using small and inexpensive devices called RFID tags. In this paper we propose a proxy agent framework that uses a personal device for privacy enforcement and increased protection against eavesdropping, impersonation and cloning attacks. Using the proxy model a user decides when and where information carried in a tag will be released. In particular, the user can put tags under her/his control, authenticated requests, release tags, transfer them to new owners, and so on. In this paper, we analyses a new type of simple a framework for enhancing RFID security by means of a proxy, a personal device that assumes control of a user's tags.

  • In this paper, we propose a new framework that calculates the user's hand motions using a Leap Motion device, and uses this to practice and analyze arm muscles as well as juggling motions. The proposed method can map the movement of the ball in a virtual environment according to the user's hand motions in real time, and analyze the amount of exercise by visualizing the relaxation and contraction of the muscles. The proposed framework consists of three main parts : 1) It tracks the user's hand position with the Leap Motion device. 2) As with juggling, the action pattern of the user throwing the ball is defined as an event. 3) We propose a parabola-based particle method to map the movement of a juggling shape to a ball based on the user's hand position. As a result, using the our framework, it is possible to play a juggling game in real-time.

  • With the advent of the Internet-of-Things paradigm, the amount of data production has grown exponentially and the user demand for responsive consumption of data has increased significantly. Herein, we present DART, a fast and lightweight stream processing framework for the IoT environment. Because the DART framework targets a geospatially distributed environment of heterogeneous devices, the framework provides (1) an end-user tool for device registration and application authoring, (2) automatic worker node monitoring and task allocations, and (3) runtime management of user applications with fault tolerance. To maximize performance, the DART framework adopts an actor model in which applications are segmented into microtasks and assigned to an actor following a single responsibility. To prove the feasibility of the proposed framework, we implemented the DART system. We also conducted experiments to show that the system can significantly reduce computing burdens and alleviate network load by utilizing the idle resources of intermediate edge devices.

  • In this paper, we propose a new framework to control VR(Virtual reality) contents in real time using user's mouth-wind and acceleration sensor of mobile device. In VR, user interaction technology is important, but various user interface methods is still lacking. Most of the interaction technologies are hand touch screen touch or motion recognition. We propose a new interface technology that can interact with VR contents in real time using user's mouth-wind method with acceleration sensor. The direction of the mouth-wind is determined using the angle and position between the user and the mobile device, and the control position is adjusted using the acceleration sensor of the mobile device. Noise included in the size of the mouth wind is refined using a simple average filter. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed technology, we show the result of interacting with contents in game and simulation in real time by applying control position and mouth-wind external force to the game.

  • User demographic information is necessary in order to improve the quality of personalized services such as recommendation systems. Mobile data, especially text data, is known to be effective for prediction of user demographic information. However, mobile text data has privacy issues so that its utilization is limited. In this regard, we introduce an on-device gender prediction framework utilizing mobile text data while minimizing the privacy issue. Discriminative word and emoticon sets of each gender are constructed from web documents written by authors of each gender. After gender prediction is performed by comparing discriminative word and emoticon sets with a user's mobile text data, an ensemble method that combines two prediction results draws a final result. From experiments conducted on real-world mobile text data, the proposed on-device framework shows promising results for gender prediction.

  • The augmented reality (AR) has recently became an attractive technology in construction industry, which can play a critical role in realizing smart construction concepts. The AR has a great potential to help construction workers access digitalized information about design and construction more flexibly and efficiently. Though several AR applications have been introduced for on-site made to enhance on-site and off-site tasks, few are utilized in actual construction fields. This paper proposes a new AR framework that provides on-site managers with an opportunity to easily access the information about construction resources such as workers and equipment. The framework records videos with the camera installed on a wearable AR device and streams the video in a server equipped with high-performance processors, which runs an object detection algorithm on the streamed video in real time. The detection results are sent back to the AR device so that menu buttons are visualized on the detected objects in the user's view. A user is allowed to access the information about a worker or equipment appeared in one's view, by touching the menu button visualized on the resource. This paper details implementing parts of the framework, which requires the data transmission between the AR device and the server. It also discusses thoroughly about accompanied issues and the feasibility of the proposed framework.

  • With Internet of Things (IoT) technology, home environment becomes smarter than ever. Not only smart devices such as smart phone or smart TV, but also various IoT devices including sensor, smart thermostat, and smart scale has now become very common on the market. These devices have connectivity to the Internet, so that user can read data from the device or control the device using Internet technology. However, due to diversity of smart home requirements, device collaboration in smart home remains a challenging task still. Usually smart home is built with various technologies to fulfill its own purpose, and these purposes cover very wide area from controlling low-power sensor devices to controlling high-performance devices like smart TV and smart phone. This variety of smart home requirements makes smart home very complicated due to mixed network architecture, protocol and technology. In this paper, a framework to enable managing and collaborating heterogeneous IoT devices in smart home environment is proposed. Several programming models are defined in the proposed framework to make application development for heterogeneous devices more intuitive. The proposed framework has been implemented as a web service, and a case study with real-world smart home IoT devices is presented.
