  • The purpose of this study is to understand the quality of University library service and to propose analyzing method from user's perspective. For that, this study noted that 'the process' of using the university library service rather than 'what did they use' in the university library. In-depth interview data about User's experiences that they used university library drew service quality elements based on the method of grounded theory. Comparing the derived service quality elements with LibQual+ dimensions, the result of this study is as follows. (1) Service quality element related to the user's emotion and new user-friendly service customization were shown. (2) Substantial claims of users were analyzed more specifically by this study. It seeks ways to differentiate service quality factors by attributes and priority importance about service quality elements which was analyzed using KANO and AHP.

  • Overseas countries' government and facility management industries make efforts to ensure precise and fluent data from building information modeling (BIM). In facility management, a large amount of data and information are necessary to continue the process activities. Facility condition assessment, which is performed to make budget plan for the maintenance and operation requires the related facilities' documentation and information. However, it depends on the owner and the user of the facility to provide accurate and complete information to consultant. The problems as follows: (1) owner and user should provide documents and information, and (2) the consultant cannot verify the provided information. To solve these problems, we suggest a methodology to produce the information for FCA through BIM. First, all of the essential documentation and assessment elements are listed. Next, the documents and elements are separated out, whether they are able to be extracted from BIM or not. Then, the list indicates only the data that is linked with BIM. The suggestion is expected to provide the required information through the connection to BIM with accuracy and completeness and to present another BIM application use for facility management.

  • In the recently diversified web environment, the existing methodologies for studying and evaluating the usability of infographics have limit in being applied to new user experience environment. To ensure effective web design that considers various user environments, research needs to be done for such usability of infographics that executes 'simplification and compression of information'. The purpose of this study is to understand the expandability of web-based infographic design, re-establish its concept, and produce the elements involved in the usability evaluation to come up with effective data on user experience. It is expected that this study will be used as a basic research for elucidating the connection to type-based or experienced-based data through convergence of various areas of information technology in the continuously transforming smart media environment.

  • Differ from elder generation, active senior possesses the active characteristics of young people. In this research, the active senior users' UX problem was analyzed by Sundar's 'Interface Assessment'. According to Interface Assessment, the user's subjective user experience in GUI interactive can be divided into five elements, which are 'Visible', 'Desired Outcome', 'Immediate Feedback', 'Intuitiveness', 'Perceived Ease of Use'. Based on these five elements, user's behavior and perception experience during interface using were analyzed to classify UX problems. Next, Correlation Analysis was conducted to find out the relationship between the elements of Interface Assessment and user's subjective experience using PSSUQ as comparing data, and SPSS 22 version as statistic software. The result of this research was presented below: First, active senior user's biggest UX problem can be classified with 'Desired Outcome' in App using. Second, the correlation between the two elements, 'Desired Outcome', 'Perceived Ease of Use', and the PSSUQ result was statistically significant, but the correlation between the other three elements, 'Visible', 'Immediate Feedback', 'Intuitiveness', and the PSSUQ result were not statistically significant. According to the result, active senior users do have different characteristics compared with elder generation. The UX problems classified with 'Desired Outcome' and 'Perceived ease of use' apparently affect user's subjective experience, while the problems classified with 'Visible', 'Immediate feedback', 'Intuitiveness' show no evidence in affecting user's subjective experience. This phenomenon could be explained by the cumulative effects of PC or smartphone use. Through the analysis of multiple UX elements in this paper, better App interface could be developed according to active senior's needs.

  • Traditionally, simulation method is used to test and evaluate the performance of communication protocol or functional elements for mobile communication service. In this paper, wireless network simulator is implemented using the C++ object-oriented programming language. This simulator can simulate wireless data services, like as ad-hoc networks, by considering the user's mobility. In this paper, the simulator includes network traffic model to reflect wireless data service and traffic source model to represent a user's mobility similar to real service environment and traffic characteristics can be reflected on the simulation, and also more accurate simulation results can be got through that. In addition, by using object-oriented techniques, new service feature or environment can be easily added or changed so that the developed mobile communication simulator can reflect the real service environment all the time. This simulator can be used in adjusting the characteristics of wireless data hosts following the mobility of the user, and also can be used in building new wireless ad-hoc network routing protocols.

  • This paper suggests a data modeling scheme of human interface elements and their properties for consumer electronic products. The human interface elements were classified into three categories: individual, interaction and integration interface. The representative properties of each interface element were identified, and modeled by using the object-oriented technique. The results of this study are expected to be used for expressing the user interface of consumer electronic products. They are also expected to help understand the relationship between the usability and the user interface elements of a product.

  • Network security should be first considered in a distributed computing environment with frequent information interchange through internet. Clear classification is needed for information users should protect and for information open outside. Basically proper encrypted database system should be constructed for information security, and security policy should be planned for each site. This paper describes access control, user authentication, and User Security and Encryption technology for the construction of database security system from network users. We propose model of network encrypted database security system for combining these elements through the analysis of operational and technological elements. Systematic combination of operational and technological elements with proposed model can construct encrypted database security system secured from unauthorized users in distributed computing environment.

  • Collaborative filtering algorithms often encounter data sparsity issues. To overcome this issue, auxiliary information of relevant items is analyzed and an item attribute matrix is derived. In this study, we combine the user-item attribute preference with the traditional similarity calculation method to develop an improved similarity calculation approach and use weights to control the importance of these two elements. A collaborative filtering algorithm based on user-item attribute preference is proposed. The experimental results show that the performance of the recommender system is the most optimal when the weight of traditional similarity is equal to that of user-item attribute preference similarity. Although the rating-matrix is sparse, better recommendation results can be obtained by adding a suitable proportion of user-item attribute preference similarity. Moreover, the mean absolute error of the proposed approach is less than that of two traditional collaborative filtering algorithms.

  • In this study, an automation tool was developed for rapid evaluation of machine tool spindle designs with automated three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) using solid elements. The tool performs FEA with the minimum data of point coordinates to define the section of the spindle shaft and bearing positions. Using object-oriented programming techniques, the tool was implemented in the programming environment of a CAD system to make use of its objects. Its modules were constructed with the objects to generate the geometric model and then to convert it into the FE model of 3D solid elements at the workbenches of the CAD system using the point data. Graphic user interfaces were developed to allow users to interact with the tool. This tool is helpful for identification of a near optimal design of the spindle based on, for example, stiffness with multiple design changes and then FEAs.

  • Increasing demand for increasing higher data rate in order to solve computationally tasks timely and connecting many user equipment simultaneously have requested researchers to develop novel technology in the area of mobile communications. Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) have been enabling technologies for commercialization of the fifth generation (5G) networks and the sixth generation (6G) systems. In this paper, we investigate a bit-error rate (BER) analysis on IRS technologies for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems. First, we derive a BER expression for IRS-NOMA systems with Rician fading channels. Then, we validate the BER expression by Monte Carlo simulations, and show numerically that BER expressions are in good agreement with simulations. Moreover, we investigate the BER of IRS-NOMA systems with Rician fading channels for various numbers of IRS elements, and show that the BERs improve as the number of IRS elements increases.
