DNA Pooling as a Tool for Case-Control Association Studies of Complex Traits

  • Case-control studies are widely used for disease gene mapping using individual genotyping data. However, analyses of large samples are often impractical due to the expense of individual genotyping. The use of DNA pooling can significantly reduce the number of genotyping reactions required; hence reducing the cost of large-scale case-control association studies. Here, we discuss the design and analysis of DNA pooling genetic association studies.

  • US DoD operated JCIDS(Joint Capability Integration and Development System) for top down requirement generation. Although the JCIDS can be a good practice for the countries which are trying to shift from bottom up to top down requirement generation, it contains many processes related with review and approval. In this study we structured a joint capability integration and development process from the JCIDS eliminating the organization dependent review or approval process so that it can be applied to any organization with some modification. Furthermore we implemented the process in the computer aided systems engineering tool, Cradle, for convenient use of the process. The result of this study can provide a basic process for top down capability development, and an efficient why of doing each element of the process using CASE tool.

  • 2020년 상반기는 코로나19로 촉발된 상황은 온라인 강의 도입 등 교육환경에도 영향을 미치고 있다. 게임제작 관련 교육과정에서 게임제작 프로젝트를 진행할 때 QA는 게임의 개발이 진행되는 단계에 맞춰 리뷰와 테스트 케이스 작성, 테스트 실행, 이슈 보고를 진행한다. QA의 핵심 업무 중 하나가 테스트 케이스를 작성하는 것이다. 이번과 같이 비대면이 강제되는 상황에서 팀원들과 협업을 하기 위해서는 테스트 케이스 관리 도구를 활용하여 효율적으로 QA를 수행하는 방안이 필요하다.

  • SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language)는 멀티미디어 객체의 집합으로 시간적인 동기화를 표현할 수 있는 마크업 언어이다. 본 연구에서는 SMIL 문서를 시간에 따라 동기화 표현을 명확히 할 수 있도록 객체 지향 기반의 시각화 도구인 UML의 사용 사례(Use case), 순서(Sequence), 다이어그램을 이용한 객체 모델링 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 SMIL 문서에서 UML 사용사례와 순서 다이어그램으로의 사상 규칙과 알고리즘, 형식 모델, 그리고, 모델링 함수를 제안한다. 본 연구의 의의는 SMIL 문서 개발자들이 손쉽게 문서 구조 파악 및 개발을 할 수 있으며, 형식 모델과 다이어그램 모델링 함수는 객체지향 데이타베이스 문서 관리의 기반이 된다는 것이다.

Requirement-Oriented Entity Relationship Modeling

  • Most of enterprises depend on a data modeler during developing their management information systems. In formulating business requirements for information systems, they widely and naturally use the interview method between a data modeler and a field worker. But, the discrepancy between both parties would certainly cause information loss and distortion that lead to let the systems not faithful to real business works. To improve or avoid modeler-dependant data modeling process, many automated data design CASE tools have been introduced. However, since most of traditional CASE tools just support drawing works for conceptual data design, a data modeler could not generate an ERD faithful to real business works and a user could not use them without any knowledge on database. Although some CASE tools supported conceptual data design, they still required too much preliminary database knowledge for a user. Against these traditional CASE tools, we proposed a Requirement-Oriented Entity Relationship Model for automated data design tool, called ROERM. Based on Non-Stop Methodology, ROERM adopts inner systematic modules for complete and sound ERD that is faithful to real field works, where modules are composed of interaction modules with a user, rules of schema operations and sentence translations. In addition to structure design of ROERM, we also devise detailed algorithms and perform an experiment for a case study.

의료급여수급권자의 사례관리 요구측정도구의 타당도와 신뢰도 검증 (Validation of a Needs Assessment Tool for Case Management in Korean Medical Aid Beneficiaries)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate the Needs Assessment Tool for Case Management (NATCM) for use with Korean medical aid beneficiaries. Methods: Psychometric testing was performed with a sample of 645 Korean medical aid beneficiaries, which included 41 beneficiaries who were selected using proportional sampling method, to examine intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Data were evaluated using item analyses, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Cronbach's alpha, and ICC. Results: Through psychometric testing the final version of NATCM was found to consist of two subscales: 1) Appropriateness of Health Care Utilization (5 items) and 2) Self Care Ability (6 items). The two subscale model was validated by CFA (RMSEA=.08, GFI=.97, and CFI=.93). Internal consistency measured by Cronbach's alpha was .82, and subscale reliability ranged from .79 to .84. The ICC of the NATCM between case managers was .73 and between case managers and health care professionals. .82. Conclusion: This study suggests that the final version of NATCM is a brief, reliable, and valid instrument to measure needs of Korean medical aid beneficiaries. Therefore, the NATCM can be effectively utilized as an important needs assessment as well as outcome evaluation tool for case management programs in Korea.

SWAT모형에서 다양한 해상도에 따른 수문-수질 모의결과의 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of SWAT Generated Streamflow and Stream Water Quality Using Different Spatial Resolution Data)

  • 본 연구는 SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool) 모형에서 공간입력자료의 다양한 해상도에 의한 수문-수질 모의결과를 비교분석 하고자 하였다. 경안천유역 상류의 농촌 소유역($1.21\;km^2$)을 대상으로 Case A(2m DEM, QucikBird 토지이용도, 1/25,000 토양도), Case B(10m DEM, 1/25,000 토지이용도, 1/25,000 토양도), Case C(30m DEM, Landsat 토지이용도, 1/25,000 토양도)에 해당하는 해상도별 공간입력자료를 구축하였다. 모형의 적용성 평가를 위해 먼저, 경안수위관측소 상류유역($255.44km^2$)을 대상으로 $1999{\sim}2002$년까지 4개년의 자료를 이용하여 유출량 및 Sediment, T-N, T-P에 대한 모형의 검보정을 실시하였다. 유출량에 대한 Nash-Sutcliffe 모형효율은 평균 0.59의 결과를 얻었으며, Sediment, T-N, T-P는 각각 2.08 tons/yr, 4.30 tons/yr, 0.70 tons/yr의 RMSE 오차로 검보정되었다. 모형의 검보정 후, 농촌 소유역을 대상으로 다양한 공간자료(Case A, B, C)를 적용하여 수문, 수질모의를 실시한 결과, 유출량은 토지이용도 해상도에 의한 모의결과의 불확실성이 가장 큰 것으로 분석되었다. QuickBird 토지이용의 유역평균 CN값이 1/25,000과 Landsat 토지이용에 비해 0.4, 1.8 더 크게 분석됨으로서 총유출량도 증가하였다. 유사량과 영영물질 오염부하량에 대한 수질모의 결과는 USLE 인자의 평균 LS 및 K, CFRG 값의 순서로 해상도별 모의결과의 불확실성이 가장 컸으며 토지이용도에 의한 평균 C값에는 큰 변화가 없는 것으로 분석되었다. Case A의 유사량은 B와 C에 비해 23.7%, 50.6% 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 유사량 증가에 따른 T-N, T-P 부하량 역시 Case A, B, C 순으로 높게 평가되었다.

How High School Mathematics Teachers Use New Textbook : A Case Study from China

  • In this paper, we propose a theoretical framework for Chinese high school mathematics teachers use new textbooks based on the work of Remillard (1999) and Chau (2014). Based on this framework, a multiple case approach was used to investigate how two high school mathematics teachers from Shanghai use new textbooks. The results suggest that in the curriculum mapping arena, both the novice teacher and the expert teacher often planned to appropriate the unit content, and sometimes planned to add supplemental content. When organizing the unit content, novice teacher always planned to follow the new textbook in sequence, while expert teacher often would follow the new textbook in sequence, but sometimes planned to rearrange the unit content. In the design arena, both the novice teacher and the expert teacher tended to appropriate the introduced tasks and definitions. The novice teacher often planned to appropriate the example problems and exercise problems, while the expert teacher often intended to flexibly use the example problems and exercise problems. In the construction arena, the novice teacher seldom adjusted the planned tasks; in contrast, the expert teacher adjusted the planned tasks more frequently. In the reflection arena, the novice teacher often thought she should improve the mathematics tasks, while the expert teacher almost always thought he needed to improve the mathematics tasks. The framework shown in this paper provides a tool to investigate how mathematics teachers use textbooks.

A Case Study about Koreanese-Japanese Students' Convergence Cartoon Using Photovoice

  • Today's universities have a keen interest in educational reform. The issue of population decline in college-age due to population decline is not new. Universities have been developing quantitatively for a long time and are now considering ways to survive rather than qualitative growth. Since the sharp decline in the school-age population due to the population decline has no clear solution immediately, universities are overcoming this crisis by creating many alternatives. Attracting international students is one of them. In this study, the effectiveness of photovoice was examined through the analysis of the case of the Korean-Japanese convergence cartoon class. The photo-voice method has sufficient potential as a teaching method for foreign convergence classes and can be expected to play a role as a teaching method suitable for students participating in convergence classes with different social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. In particular, in the convergence class, since participating students generate research materials through photo production, it can be a tool for inner exploration necessary for webtoon production and a tool for narrative inquiry for storytelling. It is expected that expanding the understanding and use of photo voice will have the methodological value of convergence classes. In addition, the teaching method using photo voice produced in the composition of photos and stories is likely to be used as an appropriate tool for convergence classes for students with different social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
