This paper introduces a representation style of variable binding using dependent types when formalizing meta-theoretic properties. The style we present is a variation of the Coquand-McKinna-Pollack's locally-named representation. The main characteristic is the use of dependent families in defining expressions such as terms and formulas. In this manner, we can handle many syntactic elements, among which wellformedness, provability, soundness, and completeness are critical, in a compact manner. Another point of our paper is to investigate the roles of free variables and constants. Our idea is that fresh constants can entirely play the role of free variables in formalizing meta-theories of first-order predicate logic. In order to show the feasibility of our idea, we formalized the soundness and completeness of LJT with respect to Kripke semantics using the proof assistant Coq, where LJT is the intuitionistic first-order predicate calculus. The proof assistant Coq supports all the functionalities we need: intentional type theory, dependent types, inductive families, and simultaneous substitution.

Speaker verification can be classified in two categories, text-dependent speaker verification and text-independent speaker verification. In this paper, we discuss text-dependent speaker verification. Text-dependent speaker verification system determines whether the sound characteristics of the speaker are equal to those of the specific person or not. In this paper we obtain the speaker data using a sound card in various noisy conditions, apply a new Hidden LMS (Least Mean Square) adaptive algorithm to it, and extract LPC (Linear Predictive Coding)-cepstrum coefficients as feature vectors. Finally, we use a competitive learning neural network for speaker verification. The proposed hidden LMS adaptive filter using a neural network reduces noise and enhances features in various noisy conditions. We construct a separate neural network for each speaker, which makes it unnecessary to train the whole network for a new added speaker and makes the system expansion easy. We experimentally prove that the proposed method improves the speaker verification performance.
Pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism (PDH) was diagnosed with history taking, physical examination, complete blood count, serum chemistry profiles, abdominal radiology, ultrasonography and adrenal function tests in 3 dogs. Their clinical signs were polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, bilateral symmetrical truncal alopecia and secondary infection in skin or urinary tract. Especially one dog showed severe clinical signs such as calcinosis cutis and delayed wound healing. These 3 dogs were diagnosed as PDH, and treated with selegiline 1-2 mg/kg /ay sid PO. 2 dogs with clinical signs of PDH were disappeared and improved, but 1 dog with severe illness progressed gradually despite of selegiline and mitotane application, and eventually died.

The nature of stress-path dependency, the principle that governs deformations in granular soil, and the use of Lade's double work-hardening model for predicting soil response for a variety of stress-paths have been investigated, and are examined The test results and the analyses presented show that under some conditions granular soils exhibit stress-path dependent behavior. For stress-paths involving unloading or reloading, the stress-path with the higher average stress level produces the larger strains, whereas all stress-paths having the same intial states of stress, and involving only primary loading conditions, produce strains of similar magnitudes. Experimental evidence indicates that the stress- path dependent response obtained from the double work-hardening model is also observed for real soils. It is concluded that the influence of stress history on the friction angle is negligible and the strains increment direction is uniquely determined from the state of stress but is not perpendicular to the yield surface. The strains calculated from Lade's double work-hardening model are in reasonable agreement with those measured.
The environmental differences between training and testing mode are generally considered to be the critical factor for the performance degradation in speaker recognition systems. Especially, general speaker recognition systems try to get as clean speech as possible to train the speaker model, but it's not true in real testing phase due to environmental and channel noise. So in this paper, the new method of weighting the frame-based likelihood according to frame SNR is proposed in order to cope with that problem. That is to make use of the deep correlation between speech SNR and speaker discrimination rate. To verify the usefulness of this proposed method, it is applied to the context dependent speaker identification system. And the experimental results with the cellular phone speech DB which is designed by ETRI for Koran speaker recognition show that the proposed method is effective and increase the identification accuracy by 11% at maximum.

This paper briefly reviews various existing methods to account for the effect of particle size on mechanical properties of particulate metal matrix composites. A simple and easy method is to use a size-dependent constitutive equation for the matrix. The suggested method does not require the development of a new computational algorithm and is compatible with any standard finite element software. Finite element analyses have been carried out to show how the deformation behavior of a metal matrix composite changes as the particle size and volume fraction are varied.

Modern power systems are very complex and to model them completely is impractical for electromagnetic transient studies. Therefore areas outside the immediate area of interest must be represented by some form of frequency dependent equivalent. This paper presents the formulation for developing 1 & 2 port Frequency Dependent Network Equivalent (FDNE) with the instantaneous term in S-domain and illustrates its use. This 1 & 2 Port FDNE have been applied to the CIGRE Benchmark Rectifier test AC system. The electromagnetic transient package PSCAD/EMTDC is used to assess the transient response of the 1 & 2 port (FDNE) developed with Norton Equivalent network.
Using receiver eigenmodes, we perform a time-dependent analysis of optical receivers whose optical inputs are corrupted by the amplified spontaneous emission. We use Gaussian receivers for the analysis with Gaussian input pulses. We find the number of contributing eigenmodes increases as the measurement time moves from the pulse center towards the pulse edges at the output of the optical receiver's electrical filter. This behavior is dependent on the bandwidth ratio between the optical and the electrical filters as well as the input pulse's time width.
The key parameter that affects the consolidation process of soil is the coefficient of permeability. The common assumption in the consolidation analysis is that the coefficient of permeability is porosity-dependent. However, various authors suggest that the strain-dependency of the coefficient of permeability should also be taken into account. In this paper, we present results of experimental and numerical analyses, with an aim to determine the strain-dependency of the coefficient of permeability. We present in detail both the experimental procedure and the finite element formulation of the two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical model of the oedometer test (standard and modified). We perform a set of experimental standard and modified oedometer tests. We use these experimental results to validate our numerical model and to define the model input parameter. Finally, by combining the experimental and numerical results, we propose the expression for the strain-dependent coefficient of permeability.
The experimental design methodology was applied in the drop tube furnace (DTF) to predict the various combustion properties according to the operating conditions and to assess the coal plant safety. Response surface method (RSM) was introduced as a design of experiment, and the database for RSM was set with the numerical simulation of DTF. The dependent variables such as burnout ratios (BOR) of coal and $CO/CO_2$ ratios were mathematically described as a function of three independent variables (coal particle size, carrier gas flow rate, wall temperature) being modeled by the use of the central composite design (CCD), and evaluated using a second-order polynomial multiple regression model. The prediction of BOR showed a high coefficient of determination (R2) value, thus ensuring a satisfactory adjustment of the second-order polynomial multiple regression model with the simulation data. However, $CO/CO_2$ ratio had a big difference between calculated values and predicted values using conventional RSM, which might be mainly due to the dependent variable increses or decrease very steeply, and hence the second order polynomial cannot follow the rates. To relax the increasing rate of dependent variable, $CO/CO_2$ ratio was taken as common logarithms and worked again with RSM. The application of logarithms in the transformation of dependent variables showed that the accuracy was highly enhanced and predicted the simulation data well.
