  • In the millenium, which will be characterized by its global culture, a strong sense of identity of one's culture is needed to nature one's culture in a way that more people can participate in creating, enjoying and consuming it. In order to respond to both globalization and localization, natural and cultural backgrounds of such should be considered in the conversation of nature, so that the optical and color environment can have local identity while undergoing sustainable development. Therefore, the objective of this research is to enhance the image of a city, which is endowed with beautiful scenery and unique culture, but has lost its identity since industrialization An through a scientific and systematic color planning The Research was conducted as follows. First, color environment which doesn't reflect local characteristics due to modernism which emphasizes on uniformity was examined. Second, standard and analysis of environment color planning were examined. Natural color specimen was use to make a palette of nature colors, from which colors for architecture were extracted to come up with color combination types. Without traditional architecture philosophy, materials and colors, which were once in harmony with the environment, it is impossible to clean up the environment all together. However by using colors to control new city plans, urban redevelpment, construction and renovation gradually, that process can be effective and less costly.

전통 한옥 숙박시설의 활성화 방안: 전주 한옥마을을 중심으로 (Conservation and Revitalization Strategies of Traditional Korean Lodges:Focused on the Jeonju Hanok Village)

  • As one of the conservation strategies, the city of Jeonju established regulations to conserve and revitalize the Hanok village as an attractive tour site. Some of old traditional houses were renovated into traditional inns. A couple of traditional houses were additionally built for lodging houses. The need for urban rehabilitation and adaptive re-use has been growing in Jeonju province. The purpose of this study was to examine how the traditional houses were converted into lodging places balancing the conflict issues such as preserving the unique characteristics of Hanok and updating functional requirement of modern lodging in terms of sustainable reuse and development. For this study, site visits and intensive interview with the owners of the seven traditional lodges were conducted. There was lack of guidelines and strategies renovation or rehabilitation of Hanok as lodging facility for sustainable use and revitalization of city. For the seven traditional Hanok inns, layout of rooms characterized as separate and disconnected, while traditional houses were open, flexible and connected regarding room arrangement. In addition, for sustainable development, the living environment of the community should be secured and align with developing strategies of the area.

  • Although human beings have been able to lead the affluent life owing to industrialization and development of science and technology, as the result of this, the nature has be destroyed, energy consumption has been accelerated, urban area has got wide and the nature has got narrow. In the face of such critical situations, concerns have been aroused to environment. In order to minimize the environment destruction and accompany the aesthetic, efficient and advantage methods, environmental marketing has been introduced to indoor. Environmental marketing is the marketing that minimizes the reverse function so as to obtain the satisfactory result, and it is still in the stage of fundamental investigation. stage. As the concept and type of environmental marketing have not been established yet for interior design, environmental marketing currently applied to indoor space is classified Into three types in this study. Through the four types of environmental marketing, which are the introduction of natural elements to indoor space, the use of eco-friendly materials and the use of sustainable materials, renovation it is intend to derive the environmental marketing strategy and present the sequence of strategy establishment and desirable direction in environmental marketing.

서울 북촌한옥의 변화양상에 관한 연구 - 북촌 가꾸기 사업에 따른 2002~2007 한옥 대수선 사례를 대상으로 - (A study on the Changes in form and spatial uses of Urban Hanok in Bukchon, Seoul)

  • This study focused on changes in form and spatial uses of Urban Hanok in Bukchon, Seoul. There are 10 representative cases which have been renovated through the policy of 'Preservation & Regeneration of Bukchon' by Seoul metropolitan government and other experts. Changes in form and spatial uses of Urban Hanok in Buckon are as follows. First, Changes of scale. Trough removing extension parts, facade of renovated Hanoks are 'transformed' into recovering their identity. Using basements or lofts, intensive application of spaces is transformation which promotes the vitality of Hanoks. Second, changes of space organization. As Hanok changes its function from residence to commercial or cultural use, il a1so changes space character or reorganizes space organization. It is important that deciding function of Hanok has to adjust its scale and organization. Third, changes of construction performance. Through introducing new material and constructing method, performance of wall has been changed respecting its wooden structure and interior-exterior figure. However, technical studies must back it up not to destroy its value of eco-friendly architecture. Fourth, changes of facility systems, like floor heating system. They changes floor level of Hanok equally, and then sections of Hanok have became simple. Furthermore, inserting new facility space, such as boiler room, stand-up kitchen, bathroom and toilet, organization of space also changed. It is necessary that wise alternative proposal through the method of transformation or mutation must be presented. These four changes can be classification into method of 'transformation' and 'mutation'. Changes of scale are method of transformation and changes of space organization are method of mutation. Also, while changes of construction performance are mutation, changes of facility systems are transformation. Recently, as price of lots have been increased, a lot of Hanoks have been commercialized. Thc commercial energy threat 'the identity of Bukchon as residential area'. From now on, to operate 'identity' and 'vitality' complementary, it is necessary to make up for the preservation policy of Hanok and consolidate renovating standards of Hanok which correspond to character of particular region and building usage.

  • 지속적인 수도권 교통 인프라 수요의 증가에 따른 광역·도시철도 노선의 급행화를 위해서는 완행과 급행철도를 동시에 운영할 수 있도록 하는 부본선의 건설이 요구된다. 그러나 기존 지하철 노선의 운행을 중단한 후 부본선을 건설하는 것은 많은 경제적 손실을 발생시키므로 기존 지하철 터널의 운영 중 확폭 방안에 대한 연구가 필수적이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존 노선 급행화에 필요한 부본선 건설을 위해 기존 지하철 터널의 운영 중 확폭 방안에 대한 기초연구를 수행하였다. 기존선 운영 중 부본선 건설방안 모색을 위해 지하철 4호선 과천선의 정부과천청사역을 부본선 건설 가상 역사로 선정하고, 4가지 방안의 구간별 단면 및 공법계획을 검토하였으며, 해당 역사에 대하여 부본선을 시공하였을 경우 시공성·경제성에 비해 상대적으로 안정성이 우려된다고 판단되는 방안을 선정하여 부본선 시공과정을 고려한 3차원 수치해석을 통한 안정성 검토를 수행하였다.

The Method of Evaluating The Potential for Conversion Legal Problems with Conversion And Basic Capacity of Vacant Onces in Tokyo

  • In Japan, the vacancy rates of office buildings have been at high in big cities since 1992. This problem is especially acute in Tokyo, where it is estimated that over 2.27 million square meters of office floor area will be oversupplied in 2003: big urban redevelopment projects will be completed in 2003. Under these circumstances, International Cooperative Research and Development on Sustainable Urban Management by Conversion of Buildings, called “SUMCOB”, has been carried out. This research aims to regenerate urban areas by converting redundant offices into flats, although instances of conversion are still very few in Japan. This paper introduces part of current results by SUMCOB, and discusses legal problems with conversion and basic capacity of vacant offices in Tokyo. It has been confirmed that there are no constraints concerned with Real Estate Registration Law (although it requires the change of the registration after conversion). and City Planning Law. However, some criteria are incompatible with Building Standard Law and Fire Service Law if the use of the building is changed from offices to flats. Typical incompatibility between offices and flats is lightening. If the buildings do not satisfy criteria for flats, the cost of renovation works for conversion will increase. To examine the basic capacity of vacant office buildings for conversion, field surveys in Tokyo have carried out at three areas: Kodenmacho (Chuo-ku), Toranomon (Minato-ku), and Iwamonocho (Chiyoda-ku). They are typical office areas that are included in center core of Tokyo. In Chuo-ku, the oldest commercial area in Tokyo, textile merchants have been located their headquarters. In Minato-ku, many rental office buildings have been located and several large scale redevelopments are advancing. Chiyoda-ku includes Marunouchi area, which is the prime office area in Japan. Thirty percent of the buildings in survey areas suffer from over twenty percent vacant floor rate, and fifty five percent were constructed before 1990. Especially most of buildings over forty percent vacant floor rate were constructed in 1980s. Vacant office problems haven't been seen in old buildings in Tokyo yet. The number of dwelling units made from office space will influence the conversion scheme. Seventy percent of the office buildings in survey areas have floor area of less than two hundred square meters. If they have been subdivided into two bedrooms type or three bedrooms type, the number of dwelling units in a floor would be less than three. The difficulty of conversion planning derives from frontage size, depth size, and their proportion. The five categories are proposed to grasp actual requirements for converting offices into flats.

현장체험학습장으로서의 도시묘지 활용 (Use of Urban Cemetery for Field Trips)

  • 본 연구는 도시묘지가 갖는 현장체험학습장으로서의 가능성에 관한 연구이다. 현장체험학습 프로그램을 활발히 진행하고 있는 미국 사례와 우리나라 사례를 비교하여 차이점과 시사점을 도출하였다. 그 결과 묘지는 지역 내 현장체험학습장으로 충분한 자원을 보유하고 있었다. 따라서 이를 활용한 교육프로그램이 개발된다면 도시는 더욱 풍부한 교육자원을 가지게 되며, 주민과 학생에게는 현재보다 다양한 교육 기회가 제공될 수 있다. 미국 사례와 우리나라 사례를 비교한 결과 미국의 묘지에서 활발한 교육프로그램이 진행될 수 있는 것은 묘지를 정원이나 공원과 같이 경관적으로 아름답고 쾌적하게 조성하고, 생태적으로 건강한 숲으로 보전해 왔기 때문이다. 또한 지역사회 묘지를 현장체험학습 장소로 적극 활용했기 때문이다. 우리나라도 기피시설이나 혐오시설이라는 이미지를 탈피할 수 있도록 묘지를 리모델링하고 장묘문화를 변화시킨다면 묘지가 도시지역에서 부족한 현장체험학습장으로서의 역할을 수행할 수 있다.

대학 도서관 건물 리모델링에 따른 실내공기질 영향 평가 (Impact Assessment of Remodeling Works on Indoor Air Quality in a University Library Building)

  • Recently, there have been a large number of remodeling (or renovation) works in old buildings in urban areas. Compared to new buildings, environmental risk might be more significant in such buildings where remodeling works are going on, since some parts of the building may still be in service for people. This study was carried out to investigate the impacts of remodeling works on the indoor air quality (IAQ) of a large building (a 22 stories university library). Indoor air monitoring was conducted during and after the remodeling works every two weeks for a one year period, and target compounds included BTEX, styrene, TVOC, carbonyl compounds such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. $CO,\;CO_2,\;PM_{10}$, and $PM_{2.5}$. Overall, the IAQ appeared to be recovered within two months after the remodeling works. However, in some places, concentrations of formaldehyde, toluene, xylene. and ethylbenzene showed higher levels even after works than those during the works. The results indicate that painting, glues and office furnitures are major sources of aromatic VOCs and formaldehyde. Therefore, in order to decrease the concentrations of toxic VOCs, the use of environmental-friendly building materials is strongly recommended during the remodeling works. In addition, IAQ control and management scheme (for example, baking the inside of the building) should be taken into consideration before reopening the buildings.

2000년 이후 서울의 신축한옥에서 보이는 건축적 특징 - 칸 구성을 중심으로 - (A Study on Architectural Characteristics of the Newly Built Hanok in Seoul Since 2000 - Focused on the Kan Composition -)

  • Since 'Hanok Expanse Support' has been started in Seoul, its target was expanded from renovation to new construction and from 'Hanok District' to all area in Seoul. The newly built hanok with Hanok Expanse Support had to follow the standards about the form of the hanok and adapt to modern lifestyle. However, the newly built hanok were planned with 'kan' since it retained the traditional wooden structure. So their composition of kan were considered to be influenced by the standards of each district and modern lifestyle. Therefore the aim of this study is to understand the architectural characteristics of newly built hanok in Seoul since 2000 focusing on the kan composition. Because of the differences in site conditions and the district unit plan, newly built hanok in Hanok District have more limited changes than Other District. However, kan is composed variously in horizontal and vertical ways to make the most space according to site conditions and most of the newly built hanok have opened courtyard rather than closed courtyard layout. With kan composition in various directions and kan added under the eaves, kan is highlighted in form. On the other hand, the composition of kan as an interior spatial element has changed and weakened because the lifestyle has changed compared to the traditional hanok and the 20th century urban hanok. Also the regular kan composition of Mom-chae and Nalgae-chae has changed. And kan is divided regardless to the wooden structure. Also, with the added kan under the eaves the main kan is dismantled inside. This paper indicates that although there is an undeniable premise that the case is restricted to hanok received Hanok Expanse Support on the condition of following the standards of the form of hanok, it is a part of the transitional changes that hanok is experiencing.

강북 대형공원 기본계획 (Landscape Design Proposal for Gangbuk Large Park)

  • 드림랜드 부지는 산으로 둘러싸인 강북지 역의 유일한 평지화 된 놀이공원이었으나, 현재는 시설 노후화와 방치로 인해 지역 거점공원으로서의 기능이 상실되었다. 부지 주변은 기존의 밀집주거와 새로 조성될 뉴타운 등이 혼재할 것이며, 특히 지역 여건상 강북지역의 도시환경 개선을 위한 대형공원이 필요하다는 측면에서 강북 대형공원 조성사업이 대두되었다. 본 연구는 강북 대형공원 조성사업 국제 현상공모에서 우수작으로 선정된 작품의 설계전략과 내용을 서술하고자 한다. 계획안의 주안점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 산지형 공원의 새로운 가능성을 찾고자 하였다. 지극히 일상적인 생활공간으로서 산책과 등산, 체력단련시설 등 제한적으로 이용되는 산지형 공원을 선조들이 산을 즐겼던 그 정취를 재현해 보고자 하였다. 둘째, 사회성 강한 자립공원을 만들고자 하였다. 도시 속에 섬으로 존재하는 녹색 숲으로서의 공원이 아닌 자체적인 변화의 에너지를 발산하면서 도시와 적극적으로 소통할 수 있는 공원이 되도록 하였다. 셋째, 다랑이 논은 자연과 더불어 사는 우리의 삶의 방식과 이념을 표현한 실체적 공간이었으며, 우리의 대표적인 향토적 경관이기도 하다. 이런 다랑이 논은 세 개의 낮은 산으로 둘러싸인 대상지를 아우를 수 있는 디자인 모티브였으며, 산에서부터 자연스럽게 흘러내리는 정겨운 풍경은 도시속의 명소로서 사람들의 이야기를 담아낼 수 있도록 계획하였다.
