도시보행공간의 기능에 대한 이론적 고찰 (The Theoretical Study on the Functions of Urban Space for Pedestrians)

  • The modernistic rationalism which thinks much of the mathematical rationality and economic efficiency is widely spread in Korea economic planning, urban planning, urban transportation planning, and the like. As a result the demands to humanity, amanity, and so on have been disregarded in the name of rationality in urban spatial organization, the typical examples, one of the pedestrian space. The pedestrian space which is passed over easily from the view point of the modernistic rationalism, is actually the space that should be reflected abundantly in urban space. The author emphasized a need of reconsideration on the position of pedestrian space in urban spatial planning process, and adopted the theoretical research on the functions and roles of pedestrian space. In consequence of this study the functions of pedestrian space are considered : the first, the function as a space for moving, the second, the function as a space for buffer. the third, the function as a space for intermediation. the fourth, the function as a space for urban daily life. the fifth, the function as new urban environment-making factor.

  • 도보는 인류문명의 발전에 기초가 된 인간의 기능 중 한가지이다. 도보 능력은 먼저 마을을 만들고 인류의 도시 패턴을 만들었다. 도시는 보행자의 편의와 행복한 삶을 위해 건설되었다. 하지만 기존의 도시는 물질문명이 발달한 이후의 급속한 차량증가와 인구로 북적거리게 되었다. 한편, 보행자 공간은 도시 지역에서 소외되고 있다. 본 연구는 도심 가로변 보행공간 특성과 이에 대한 개선방향을 제시하고자 함으로써 다음의 방향을 택하였다. 첫째, 문헌조사 및 고찰에 의하여 보행 공간의 의의와 문제점을 찾아내어 이들과 보행자 행태에 영향을 미치는 주위환경과의 관계를 규명하고, 둘째, 보행자의 공간영역(신체적, 심리적) 및 보행특성, 서비스 수준 등을 조사하여 쾌적한 보행공간으로의 개선에 대한 기초자료로 하며, 셋째, 실지 조사에 의한 자료와 위의 문헌조사를 근거로 하여 여러 제안을 추출하여 그 중에서 가장 적합한 최선의 대안을 제시하는 방안을 택한다.

도심 복합상업시설 공용공간의 보행자 지원적 환경계획에 관한 연구 (A Study on Environmental Plan To Support Pedestrians in Public Space of Urban Mixed-use Commercial Facilities)

  • Recently, urban mixed-use commercial facilities have been required to raise a safe environment in public areas. So, this study focuses on analyze planning factors selected through the precedent research for Pedestrian safety and environment of urban mixed-use commercial facilities. The first purpose of this study is to analyse the applicative estimation of environmental plan to support pedestrians in public space of urban mixed-use commercial facilities in Seoul. And the second purpose of this study is to propose the directions of environmental planning for creating a pedestrian-friendly environment in public space of urban mixed-use commercial facilities. In order to accomplish this purpose, the environmental planning factors for supporting pedestrians and guidelines for disabled shown in the precedent studies are drawn. A survey of research subjects are 4 urban mixed-use commercial facilities located in downtown Seoul. And then a questionnaire survey is performed on architecture and interior design students to evaluate the importance. As a result of the study, the following conclusion are drawn. The pedestrian-friendly environment in urban mixed-use commercial facilities requires planning to strengthen accessibility, supporting and safety of public space.

현대도시 보행공간의 시각화를 위한 기초연구 - 외부공간의 보행자 통행 가능성 판별기준을 중심으로 - (A Preliminary Study for Mapping Pedestrian Spaces in the City - Based on Pedestrian Traversability in Open Space -)

  • There has been various pedestrian-friendly planning for making walkable cities. However, the representation of urban pedestrian spaces that should be the basis of the pedestrian-friendly planning tends to be far from reality. This is due to the absence of a consensual way to represent pedestrian spaces in the city. In this context, this study aims to propose a method to properly represent pedestrian spaces. For this purpose, this study first reviews the patterns of representing pedestrian spaces appearing on city maps and examines their merits and limits. After that, the criteria of pedestrian traversability and the mapping method are proposed on a trial basis for representing pedestrian spaces. Then, applying this to the case sites, Mokdong and Euljiro, this paper demonstrates how the operation of representing pedestrian spaces works. It is expected that the results of this study would be used as the basic foundation for a more developed representation of effective pedestrian-friendly planning.

도심 엔터테인먼트형 복합상업시설 지하공간에 자연요소를 이용한 실내 환경디자인 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Application of the Interior Environmental Design Using Natural Elements in Underground Space of Urban Entertainment Center)

  • The underground space of urban entertainment center can do various roles for urban development. Especially, the design of underground space using natural elements is necessary to sustainable development of facilities. The purpose of this study is to propose the elements, characteristics and application around interior environmental design using natural elements in underground space of urban entertainment center. The research methods of this study are research references, survey and field-study. This study can be concluded as follows; First, the factors of interior environmental design using natural elements in underground space of urban entertainment center are 'landmarks expression of natural elements', 'introduction and planning of daylighting', 'planning of materials using natural images', 'planning of ecological footpath' and 'planning of energy recycling'. Second, pedestrian space and openspace considering regional context are necessary. Third, introduction of daylight and design of artificial lighting in underground space are needed to making eco-friendly environment. Fourth, landmark design using various natural elements in underground space is needed to provide eco-friendly amenity. Fifth, the interior environmental design using natural elements is needed to community space in underground space. Sixth, eco-friendly pedestrian space in underground space is necessary. Seventh, interior environmental design using natural elements is needed to the entrance of underground space of urban entertainment center.

Pedestrian Distribution in High-Rise Commercial Complexes: An Analysis of Integrating Spatial and Functional Factors

  • One of the key problems in the design of high-rise commercial complex is how to guide reasonable pedestrian distribution in commercial space. In this study, pedestrian distribution in three high-rise commercial complexes in Shanghai and Hong Kong was studied using spatial configuration analysis software Space Syntax and quantification of physical elements in commercial spaces, such as functional attractiveness, entrances, escalators, level variations and passage width. Additionally, in an attempt to integrate functions with spatial integration and spatial depth, two combination variables, the spatial coefficient of function (IF) and spatial depth coefficient of function (F/D), were proposed. The results of the correlation analysis and multiple regression analyses reflected the following: (1) Regarding the influence on pedestrian distribution, there was a synergistic and complementary relationship between function and space; (2) The comprehensive flow distribution analytic model could successfully interpret flow distribution in high-rise commercial complexes and its R Square ranged up to about 70% in the three cases; (3) The spatial coefficient of function (IF) and spatial depth coefficient (F/D) could effectively integrate functions and spatial configuration, which could help close the gap between over-emphasis on function in commercial research and the lack of consideration of function in space-syntax analysis.

안전사고예방을 위한 보행공간체계분석에 관한 연구 (Analysis of the Pedestrian Space System for the Negligent Accident Prevention)

  • 보행공간은 작게는 보행량을 포함하는 공간사용의 정도에 영향을 미치거나 크게는 지역경제의 활성화에 영향을 미치며, 더 크게는 친환경, 친인간적인 도시로서의 삶의 질을 평가하는 지표중의 하나이다. 또한 최근 도심부 보행관련 정책은 선적인 가로환경 개선사업에서 발전된 보행자우선지구로의 전환이 대두되고 있어 특정 보행공간보다는 전체적인 보행공간체계에 대한 고려가 중요시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 도시민을 위한 공간계획의 일환으로 시작된 국내 보행 전용 공간의 물리적 특성과 실제 이용자의 이용 형태에 대한 연구를 통해 국내에 조성된 보행 전용 공간의 특성을 규명하고자 함에 목적을 두고 사례분석을 통한 연구를 진행하였다. 사례연구는 지역적으로는 서울시에 조성된 차없는 거리 중 명동과 관철동에 조성된 시간제 통제방식의 보행자 전용공간을 선택하였으며 이에 대한 현장조사와 설문조사를 병행하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 활용 방안으로는 보행공간 관련 사업 시 특정가로에 치중된 사업이 아닌 지역 전체 보행공간체계의 공간적 가로특성을 고려할 수 있으며, 현행 법제도에서 모호하게 제시된 보행자전용도로 위치 및 횡단보도 위치의 당위성을 제시할 수 있다. 또한, 계획단계에서 보행량 예측에 따른 적절한 계획수립방안을 모색할 수 있다.

보행자전용도로의 이용목적에 따른 만족요인 연구 (A Study on Satisfaction Factors of Pedestrian Road in Residence District according to Usage Purpose)

  • As serving people's activities, pedestrian road systems are basic and necessary facilities in urban structure. To provide and utilize these pedestrian road systems in residential area would enhance urban environment as well as quality of life. For this reason, pedestrian road should be planned by consideration of people's activity in residential area. Evaluation of existing pedestrian road should be also oriented how people use it and what people do in it. This study amis to investigate functions of pedestrian road system throughout evaluation of user's satisfaction in order to improve better pedestrian road system in residential area. The purposes of this study are to analyze components of factors affecting on user's satisfaction, and to find the relationship among affecting factors. For this study, the on-site questionnaire method was applied to 267 individuals who were collected as the study areas where locate Toyogaoka and Kaidori, Japan. The collected data were clarified exploratory factors, and analyzed relationship between the factors and satisfaction by applying quantitative statistical techniques for the mapping investigation, Mann-Whitney u-test, and correlation. The results of this study are follows. The pedestrian road system is more preferred than surroundings of vehicle roads in residential district area where maintains pedestrian road as open space. In addition, satisfactions of the pedestrian road for each purpose were highly evaluated, because of conformability and convenience for usage. Consequently, the pedestrian road which is secure and greening as an open space is well carried out for the living circulation of residents. It would suggest that pedestrian road have to be managed and planned not a function of circulation but an open space system.

주민참여형 주거지 재생사업의 정비요소에 대한 고령 거주자의 중요도-만족도 분석 - 연남동 사업지구를 대상으로 - (Importance-Performance Analysis of Elderly Residents on the Planned Elements of the Participatory Residential Environment Improving Projects - Focused on the Project of Yonnam-dong -)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the perception of elderly residents on the residential environment improving projects and suggest the political implications. The survey include questionnaires about the importance and the satisfaction level on the project maintenance factors. The results were statistically analyzed by Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). As the result of the study, firstly, it shows that 'the possible overkill area' on the IPA action grid includes none of factors except 'landscape' which is very similar to mean of performance score. the result of analysis means that the project is very efficient. Secondly, the policy is necessary to improve 'pedestrian passage', 'public open space' and 'transportation environment'. Considering elderly residents especially 'pedestrian passage' and 'public open space' are in need of improvement immediately. In detail 'traffic facility', building 'urban park' and 'pedestrian passage', 'paving of pedestrian passage', 'children's playground' are in need of improvement as well. The results of analysis on elderly and non-elderly residents of Yonnam project may be important foundation for future strategies for improvement.

도시개발사업에서의 외부공간계획에 대한 상대적 중요도 분석 (Analyzing the Relative Importance of Exterior Space in Urban Development Projects)

  • As a basic study to analyze the relative importance of external space in urban development projects, this study selects evaluation indicators for external space planning and then analyzes systematic external space planning through expert surveys. The scope of the study is to examine the criteria of evaluation items for external space derived from existing studies and to suggest the importance and priority of evaluation items. As a research method, we reviewed the legal and research literature on landscape planning and external space-related guidelines, and conducted a primary review of external space planning evaluation items analyzed by questionnaire. The reviewed items were again reviewed and selected through expert group discussions (FGI). The selected evaluation items were surveyed by expert groups and analyzed in depth using the hierarchical analysis method (AHP). Looking at the relative importance of the calculated sub-items, among the 17 sub-items, 'planning open space' (.096) is the largest, followed by 'pedestrianization' (.082), 'linking with adjacent buildings, streets, parks, and green areas' (.077), 'securing public space through various planning techniques such as linking with pedestrian paths' (.066), 'Plan the placement, form, and scale of buildings in consideration of the identity of the destination' (.065), 'Plan buildings, streets, parks, and green spaces in an integrated and holistic manner' (.065), 'Harmonize with the surrounding environment (landscape)' (.063), 'Harmonize with surrounding buildings and apply landscape planning in urban planning' (.063), 'Entrances and lower floors of buildings are planned as parks for users and pedestrians' (.060), 'Preserve and expand green areas and establish maintenance plans for urban greening' (.054), 'Form the basis for a comfortable life for urban residents by providing long-term development directions' (.047), 'Activate community activities and plan pedestrian environments and streetscapes considering human scale' (.047), 'Establish and propose basic directions for urban greening' (.046), 'Plan buildings, streets, parks, and green areas considering the hierarchy and characteristics of the landscape structure' (.045), 'Plan for integrated land use' (.045), 'Create green axes in connection without cutting them due to development activities' (.044), and 'Apply barrier free design' (.034).
