Tall buildings' implementation has often lacked urban design and architectural guidance. There are many examples of tall buildings that have been inappropriately located, designed, and built, and consequently dissatisfaction with high-rise development is wide-spread. This paper attempts to provide extensive urban and architectural guidelines in order to manage cityscape and to ensure safe and healthy living. Through recommendations on design and layout of tall buildings and open spaces the guidelines seek enhancing the visual experience, improving the microclimate conditions, and fostering active social life. These guidelines help in providing enjoyable urban experiences through the examination of spatial relationships, human scale, genius loci, perceptual characteristics, local identity, built heritage, economic activities, and social life.
The types of the multi-family housing are classified into the independent type, the mixed type and the public type by the approaching method. The characteristics of the independent type are the rear layout type(41.66%), the "ㅋ"type(56.14%), and the 2-room type(54.54%). In the mixed one, they are the front layout type(36.84%), the "ㄱ"type(42.10%), and the 1-room type(49.60%) and in the public one they are the front layout type(51.61%), the "ㅡ"type(41.99%). and the 1-room type(84.11%). It is found that the housing types are gradually tuned into the multi-family housing such as the independent house in the urban area due to changing the major independent type(82.60%) in the early of the 1990s to the public type(74.19%) in the end of the 1990s.
A multiple criteria model for the facility layout problem considers both of the quantitative, the cost of the work flow, and qualitative, the closeness rating score, aspect. Rosenblatt, Fortenberry & Cox and Urban have developed multiple criteria models that consider both of the quantitative and qualitative aspect. Fortenberry & Cox's multiplicity model penalizes facilities with undesirable closeness rating and high work flows more than those undesirable closeness rating and low work flow between them to contribute to the objective function regardless of the closeness rating between these facilities. In this paper, it is intended to develops a improved multiple-criteria facility layout model considering the function for maintaning the distance between facilities.
In the meantime, the study of traditional and contemporary house had been produced so many achievements in korea, but modern house is yet to be solved, Accordingly, It is necessary to develop and present the basic research data in order to build up an objective study for urban house in the modern age(1910-1945), Following to a study on the foreigner's house in grid-type settlement of Open Ports, in this research is to investigate and analyze modern houses of urban areas in korean inland, and then clarify types and changes of them. In the first year($1995{\sim}96$), the modern houses of Central Inland Districts(arrounding river Kumgang)-Kunsan kanggyong Puyo Kongju Pugang Chongju were investigated by the layout of room, the construction and materials, the design and style, etc. In the second year($1996{\sim}97$), the modern houses of Open Market(開市場)-Seoul Taegu Kwangju Taejon Chonju were conducted to investigate as above. The traditional house transformed by differentiation and addition of room(kan), the various types were respectively adopted for the korean reforming and western cultural house. In the layout of room, the types of plan were gradually concentrated from the single wings of korean traditional house. The korean traditional house was later improved through the introduction of entrance, corridor, and internal toilet/bathroom. But the korean under-floor heating system(andal) and a series of three rooms had been entirely maintained, composed of master bedroom/living room(daechung)/room. And the traditional town house with shop and storage, being built closely to each other and walled up both sides, it had taken gradually the extensive characteristics in itself. By the displacement of shop/dwelling/ storage. the various types were respectively adopted for the separated, multi-storied, and complex type. The type of them was gradually changed to the narrow and linear form. And so with the stockpile of fundamental datas about modern houses in korean urban areas, we expect these results contribute to the knowledge of the spatial characteristics of urban house at present which are required to the understanding of transition as well as types.
Accessibility of urban green space, as an important index of evaluating the service level of urban green space, not only shows the resident's access to green space, but also reflects the environment quality of urban living. Since the quantity, area and space distribution of the patches in urban green space directly affect the function of urban green space and the quality of urban environment, the research on the accessibility of urban green space holds great significance to improve the service of urban green space and the living environment quality. Based on GIS software, this research uses the road network and the population distribution data of Nanjing's city proper to conduct quantitative analysis of the accessibility of park green space and the convenience for residents to travel under different forms of transportation. After the case analysis, the author tests the application of road network in studying the accessibility of urban park green space and proposes a GIS-based method to study the accessibility and the rational layout of urban green space.
The transport system and its infrastructure are not only the fundamental means of sustaining the operation of contemporary cities, but also important drivers for the evolution of urban form. Rail transit, critical to improving the operational efficiency and optimizing the spatial layout in cities, is one of the critical conditions for high-density areas with limited land and concentrated resources to be compact to take on complex challenges. As a node element of infrastructure, rail transit entrances are the most important points connecting the rail transit system with urban space. Although influenced by urban form, their quantity and location also influence and shape the evolution of urban space form. Based on the development gap of high-density areas in various contexts, focusing on various rail transit stations in Asia, this research analyzes the correlation between rail transit entrances and peripheral high-density urban form in a delicate, dynamic and granular way. The research considers both horizontal and vertical perspectives, in combination with the urban evolution process in time series, to explore the development trend of high-density urban form in Asia from the aspect of correlation, and building a new foundation for research on urban form, suitable for different types of cities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for the urban regeneration by constructing contemporary publicness. Beginning with researching on the theoretical fundamentals about publicness and urban regeneration, it introduces the examples to analyze the spatial characteristics of publicness in the contemporary urban architecture, and finally simulates a model for the formation of space through a real work. Method: The study is partially based on the Executive Urban Project, 'Masterplan to make New Taekrigi : Gosan', which was planned in 2013 to suggest a strategic settlement layout for urban regeneration. Making architectural ideas permeated into the model of urban planing, throughout the design process of initially pursued concepts to the design development stage, we could encounter a new type of formation of urban space, coinciding with the historical, cultural ecological contexts. Result: The expected result of the study intends to enhance the relationship between the formation of public space and urban structure, also ultimately to produce a urban system as 'space generator' to fulfill the social needs and its requirements.
Large-scaled apartment housing complex at outskirts of downtown which has direct influence on urban view concentrated on improving the space outside the complex like spatial composition of individual plan design, but neglected the contribution of urban view. However, as people's orientation toward urban areas was changed to quality from quantity, concerns on urban view have been gradually increased and planning of apartment housing has been extended to complex with view contributing to urban people as a factor composing the city in resident centered spatial composition. This study is therefore to examine the characteristics of view components of 13 apartment housing complexes at Sangmu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City and their influences on evaluating view image.
Analyzing morphological evolution over a long period of time is deemed an effective way to identify problems occurring in the process of urban development, in addition to achieving a fundamental understanding of socio-cultural changes and growth rooted from the context. As far as the urban morphology is concerned, Hong Kong is characterized by its unique high-density and compact layout patterns, which have aroused the interest of a number of authors in the urban design domain. Whilst an increasing number of redevelopment projects in Hong Kong were criticized for ignoring and destroying the old urban fabric, there is a need for research to investigate the origins and changes of various urban patterns and their implications for society. By employing the theories and techniques of space syntax, this paper accordingly provides a morphological analysis based on the Wanchai District - a 'Segment-line' city, which particularly epitomizes various urban grids of Hong Kong and may have different implications for functional aspects. By axial-mapping the urban layouts of five stages of growth since 1842 and subsequently investigating their spatial and functional transformation over the past 170 years, this paper identifies a series of spatial characteristics underlying different grid patterns, as well as achieves a precise understanding of their ever changing relationship. Based on these understandings, this paper intends to provide valuable reference and guidance for upcoming spatial development in Hong Kong and other regions.
A traditional Korean housing is a typical type which is contained life style, spatial organization and scape element of people who lived in Korea. In the hanok, people want to be live not only in human environment and traditional culture, but also modem urban housing as a high density. This article deals as follows: First, Hanok as urban housing would be composed in a housing lot, linear type layout, devide building, and cluster type. Second, Housing unit and configuration of Multi family housing can be used single story, second story, second story + single story, multi story and Hanok roofing. Thirds, structure of the building are traditional wooden, combined one of steel and wood or concrete and wood, and the building system in exterior and interior can be seperated into another system. Forth, Image of multi story Hanok A last, consistency of Hanok is not a repeat of an origin but application and creative aptitude of the origin, and multi family housing application of Hanok can be a trial creative.
