With changes in insulated defects, the environment, and so on, new partial discharge (PD) data are highly different from the original samples. It leads to a decrease in on-line recognition rate. The UHF signal and pulse current signal of four kinds of typical artificial defect models in gas insulated switchgear (GIS) are obtained simultaneously by experiment. The relationship map of ultra-high frequency (UHF) cumulative energy and its corresponding apparent discharge of four kinds of typical artificial defect models are plotted. UHF cumulative energy and its corresponding apparent discharge are used as inputs. The support vector machine (SVM) incremental method is constructed. Examples show that the PD SVM incremental method based on simulated annealing (SA) effectively speeds up the data update rate and improves the adaptability of the classifier compared with the original method, in that the total sample is constituted by the old and new data. The PD SVM incremental method is a better pattern recognition technology for PD on-line monitoring.

The surveillance programme of work-related diseases (WRD) is based on a network of occupational physicians who notify all WRD diagnosed during a two-week observation period. The aims are mainly to estimate the prevalence of non-compensated WRD in the working population according to socio economic factors; to determine new indicators of occupational health; to update the lists of compensable occupational diseases; to understand and assess under-compensation and under-notification. The participation rate for occupational physicians is around 33% in 2008. The main WRD are the musculoskeletal disorders, followed by the mental disorders. This 2-week protocol, repeated regularly, provides useful data on frequency of pathologies linked to employment as well as an estimate of unreported WRD subject to compensation or non-compensated WRDs, and the trends of WRDs over the time.

This study presents an ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing with absolute position. The flight time of ultrasonic waves is determined by a period detecting technique which is able to extend the sensing range compared with traditional methods. For location awareness, ultrasonic waves are sent successively from each ultrasonic transmitter and synchronized by radio frequency (RF) signal, where the transmitting part is fixed and the receiving part is movable. To expand the recognizing range, cell matching technique and coded ultrasonic technique are introduced. The experimentation for various distances is accomplished to verify the used period detecting technique of U-SAT system. The positioning accuracy by using cell matching is also verified by finding the locations of settled points and the usability of coded ultrasonic technique is verified. As a result, the possibility of ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing can be discussed as a pseudo-satellite system with low cost, a high update rate, and relatively high precision, in the places where CPS is not available.

In this paper, we propose a simple algorithm for detecting underwater transient signals on the fact that the frequency range of underwater transient signals is similar to audio frequency. For this, we use a preprocessing module of EVRC speech codec that is the standard speech codec of the mobile communications. If a signal is entered into EVRC noise suppression module, we can get some parameters such as the update flag, the energy of each channel, the noise suppressed signal, the energy of input signal, the energy of background noise, and the energy of enhanced signal. Therefore the energy of the enhanced signal that is normalized with the energy of the background noise is compared with the pre-defined detection threshold, and then we can detect the transient signal. And the detection threshold is updated using the previous value in the noisy period. The experimental result shows that the proposed algorithm has $0{\sim}4% error rate in the AWGN or the colored noise environment.

Adaptive support-weight based algorithm can produce better disparity map compared to generic area-based algorithms and also can be implemented as a realtime system. In this paper, we propose a realtime system based on geodesic support-weight which performs better segmentation of objects in the window. The data scheduling is analyzed for efficient hardware design and better performance and the parallel architecture for weight update which takes the longest delay is proposed. The exponential function is efficiently designed using a simple step function by careful error analysis. The proposed architecture is designed with verilogHDL and synthesized using Donbu Hitek 0.18um standard cell library. The proposed system shows 2.22% of error rate and can run up to 260Mhz (25fps) operation frequency with 182K gates.

This paper describes a single-chip full-custom implementation of pipelined adaptive decision-feedback equalizer (PADFE) using a 0.25-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology for wide-band wireless digital communication systems. To enhance the throughput rate of ADFE, two pipeline stage are inserted into the critical path of the ADFE by using delayed least-mean-square (DLMS) algorithm Redundant binary (RB) arithmetic is applied to all the data processing of the PADFE including filter taps and coefficient update blocks. When compared with conventional methods based on two's complement arithmetic, the proposed approach reduces arithmetic complexity, as well as results in a very simple complex-valued filter structure, thus suitable for VLSI implementation. The design parameters including pipeline stage, filter tap, coefficient and internal bit-width and equalization performance such as bit error rate (BER) and convergence speed are analyzed by algorithm-level simulation using COSSAP. The singl-chip PADFE contains about 205,000 transistors on an area of about 1.96$\times$1.35-$\textrm{mm}^2$. Simulation results show that it can safely operate with 200-MHz clock frequency at 2.5-V supply, and its estimated power dissipation is about 890-mW.

Recently it is being increased rapidly to install magnetic marker and RFID tag on the underground utility lines before backfilling to ensure effective it's management. However, due to changes an attitude and damages of sensors. By pressure and vibration during soil compacting, detecting rate is significantly reduced as well as it allows to use only one line of various pipes since it has an unique frequency. Also it is required too long time to reach to target point with an non-accurate navigational GPS receiver and hard to update existing data base with a manual input of new data in the field. To improve these problems, the researcher developed the field management system that apply with ball typed self-levelling marker which is free from the changes of attitude for sensors during compaction as well as has various radio frequency applicable to many kind of pipes and ensure fast positioning to target point using an incorporated system with PDA based DGPS receiver which allows loading a field GIS software and RFID detector. Further, it provides with viewing all of RFID data on the DGPS receiver screen directly and also input new data to existing data base in the field automatically.

Purpose : Invasive bacterial infection is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children. Previously, we reported etiology of invasive infections in healthy children in 1985-1995. This study was performed to update etiology of invasive bacterial infections in the previously healthy children. Methods : We reviewed medical records of 98 episodes of invasive bacterial infections in immunocompetent children at the Seoul National University Children's Hospital in 1996-2004. Results : The frequent pathogens identified over all age groups were Streptococcus pneumoniae (33%) and Staphylococcus aureus(33%). The proportion of Salmonella species and Haemophilus influenzae has been declined to 4% each from 23% and 14%, respectively, compared to previous study. S. agalactiae was the most common isolate in the infants ${\leq}3$ months. Among the infants and children aged 3 months to 2 years and children of 2-5 years, S. pneumoniae(57%, 52%, respectively, in each group) was the most common isolates followed by S. aureus(17% and 24%, respectively). S. aureus was the most common isolates(73%) in children >5 years. Primary bacteremia was the most common clinical diagnosis(27%). S. pneumoniae was responsible for 42% of primary bacteremia, 50% of meningitis, and 69% of bacteremic pneumonia and empyema. S. aureus accounted for 80% of bone and joint infections. The case fatality rate was 8.1% for all invasive infections. Conclusion : We reviewed frequency of bacterial agents of invasive infections in children. The data may be useful for pediatricians to select adequate empirical antibiotics in the management of invasive bacterial infections.
