Monocular depth estimation helps the robot to understand the surrounding environments in 3D. Especially, deep-learning-based monocular depth estimation has been widely researched, because it may overcome the scale ambiguity problem, which is a main issue in classical methods. Those learning based methods can be mainly divided into three parts: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and semi-supervised learning. Supervised learning trains the network from dense ground-truth depth information, unsupervised one trains it from images sequences and semi-supervised one trains it from stereo images and sparse ground-truth depth. We describe the basics of each method, and then explain the recent research efforts to enhance the depth estimation performance.
The unsupervised domain adaptation can solve the impractical issue of repeatedly collecting high-quality training data every year for annual crop classification. This study evaluates the applicability of deep learning-based unsupervised domain adaptation models for crop classification. Three unsupervised domain adaptation models including a deep adaptation network (DAN), a deep reconstruction-classification network, and a domain adversarial neural network (DANN) are quantitatively compared via a crop classification experiment using unmanned aerial vehicle images in Hapcheon-gun and Changnyeong-gun, the major garlic and onion cultivation areas in Korea. As source baseline and target baseline models, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are additionally applied to evaluate the classification performance of the unsupervised domain adaptation models. The three unsupervised domain adaptation models outperformed the source baseline CNN, but the different classification performances were observed depending on the degree of inconsistency between data distributions in source and target images. The classification accuracy of DAN was higher than that of the other two models when the inconsistency between source and target images was low, whereas DANN has the best classification performance when the inconsistency between source and target images was high. Therefore, the extent to which data distributions of the source and target images match should be considered to select the best unsupervised domain adaptation model to generate reliable classification results.
Supervised learning based on deep learning has made a leap forward in various application fields. However, many supervised learning methods work under the common assumption that training and test data are extracted from the same distribution. If it deviates from this constraint, the deep learning network trained in the training domain is highly likely to deteriorate rapidly in the test domain due to the distribution difference between domains. Domain adaptation is a methodology of transfer learning that trains a deep learning network to make successful inferences in a label-poor test domain (i.e., target domain) based on learned knowledge of a labeled-rich training domain (i.e., source domain). In particular, the unsupervised domain adaptation technique deals with the domain adaptation problem by assuming that only image data without labels in the target domain can be accessed. In this paper, we explore the unsupervised domain adaptation techniques.
Recently, deep-learning based methods for low-light image enhancement accomplish great success through supervised learning. However, they still suffer from the lack of sufficient training data due to difficulty of obtaining a large amount of low-/normal-light image pairs in real environments. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised learning approach for single low-light image enhancement using the bright channel prior (BCP), which gives the constraint that the brightest pixel in a small patch is likely to be close to 1. With this prior, pseudo ground-truth is first generated to establish an unsupervised loss function. The proposed enhancement network is then trained using the proposed unsupervised loss function. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt that performs a low-light image enhancement through unsupervised learning. In addition, we introduce a self-attention map for preserving image details and naturalness in the enhanced result. We validate the proposed method on various public datasets, demonstrating that our method achieves competitive performance over state-of-the-arts.

In computer vision especially in image processing, it has become popular to apply deep convolutional networks for supervised learning. Convolutional networks have shown a state of the art results in classification, object recognition, detection as well as semantic segmentation. However, supervised learning has two major disadvantages. One is it requires huge amount of labeled data to get high accuracy, the second one is to train so much data takes quite a bit long time. On the other hand, unsupervised learning can handle these problems more cheaper way. In this paper we show efficient way to learn features for classification in an unsupervised way. The network trained layer-wise, used backpropagation and our network learns features from unlabeled data. Our approach shows better results on Caltech-256 and STL-10 dataset.
Video stabilization is one of the camera technologies that the importance is gradually increasing as the personal media market has recently become huge. For deep learning-based video stabilization, existing methods collect pairs of video datas before and after stabilization, but it takes a lot of time and effort to create synchronized datas. Recently, to solve this problem, unsupervised learning method using only unstable video data has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a network structure that learns the stabilized trajectory only with the unstable video image without the pair of unstable and stable video pair using the Convolutional Auto Encoder structure, one of the unsupervised learning methods. Optical flow data is used as network input and output, and optical flow data was mapped into grid units to simplify the network and minimize noise. In addition, to generate a stabilized trajectory with an unsupervised learning method, we define the loss function that smoothing the input optical flow data. And through comparison of the results, we confirmed that the network is learned as intended by the loss function.

Sentiment Analysis has become very important field of research because posting of reviews is becoming a trend. Supervised, unsupervised and semi supervised machine learning methods done lot of work to mine this data. Feature engineering is complex and technical part of machine learning. Deep learning is a new trend, where this laborious work can be done automatically. Many researchers have done many works on Deep learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Shor Term Memory (LSTM) Neural Network. These requires high processing speed and memory. Here author suggested two models simple & bidirectional deep leaning, which can work on text data with normal processing speed. At end both models are compared and found bidirectional model is best, because simple model achieve 50% accuracy and bidirectional deep learning model achieve 99% accuracy on trained data while 78% accuracy on test data. But this is based on 10-epochs and 40-batch size. This accuracy can also be increased by making different attempts on epochs and batch size.

The deployment of sensors for Structural Health Monitoring requires a complicated network arrangement, ground truthing, and calibration for validating sensor performance periodically. Any conventional sensor on a structural element is also subjected to static and dynamic vertical loadings in conjunction with other environmental factors, such as brightness, noise, temperature, and humidity. A structural model with strain gauges was built and tested to get realistic sensory information. This paper investigates different deep learning architectures and algorithms, including unsupervised, autoencoder, and supervised methods, to benchmark blind drift calibration methods using deep learning. It involves a fully connected neural network (FCNN), a long short-term memory (LSTM), and a gated recurrent unit (GRU) to address the blind drift calibration problem (i.e., performing calibrations of installed sensors when ground truth is not available). The results show that the supervised methods perform much better than unsupervised methods, such as an autoencoder, when ground truths are available. Furthermore, taking advantage of time-series information, the GRU model generates the most precise predictions to remove the drift overall.
Disease threatens plant growth and recognizing the type of disease is essential to making a remedy. In recent years, deep learning has witnessed a significant improvement for this task, however, a large volume of labeled images is one of the requirements to get decent performance. But annotated images are difficult and expensive to obtain in the agricultural field. Therefore, designing an efficient and effective strategy is one of the challenges in this area with few labeled data. Transfer learning, assuming taking knowledge from a source domain to a target domain, is borrowed to address this issue and observed comparable results. However, current transfer learning strategies can be regarded as a supervised method as it hypothesizes that there are many labeled images in a source domain. In contrast, unsupervised transfer learning, using only images in a source domain, gives more convenience as collecting images is much easier than annotating. In this paper, we leverage unsupervised transfer learning to perform plant disease recognition, by which we achieve a better performance than supervised transfer learning in many cases. Besides, a vision transformer with a bigger model capacity than convolution is utilized to have a better-pretrained feature space. With the vision transformer-based unsupervised transfer learning, we achieve better results than current works in two datasets. Especially, we obtain 97.3% accuracy with only 30 training images for each class in the Plant Village dataset. We hope that our work can encourage the community to pay attention to vision transformer-based unsupervised transfer learning in the agricultural field when with few labeled images.

The majority of product users rely on the reviews that are posted on the appropriate website. Both users and the product's manufacturer could benefit from these reviews. Daily, thousands of reviews are submitted; how is it possible to read them all? Sentiment analysis has become a critical field of research as posting reviews become more and more common. Machine learning techniques that are supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised have worked very hard to harvest this data. The complicated and technological area of feature engineering falls within machine learning. Using deep learning, this tedious process may be completed automatically. Numerous studies have been conducted on deep learning models like LSTM, CNN, RNN, and GRU. Each model has employed a certain type of data, such as CNN for pictures and LSTM for language translation, etc. According to experimental results utilizing a publicly accessible dataset with reviews for all of the models, both positive and negative, and CNN, the best model for the dataset was identified in comparison to the other models, with an accuracy rate of 81%.
