The effect of low profile agent and release agent on the surface and mechanical properties of bulk mold compound were investigated. Atomic content and contact angle of surface were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and contact anglemeter. Surface morphology and surface roughness were obtained using field emission scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope, respectively. As increasing the low profile agent from 0 to 9.2 wt%, the volume shrinkage and surface roughness decreased from 0.35% to 0.05%, and from $0.27{\mu}m$ to $0.12{\mu}m$, respectively. The increase of release agent from 1.8 wt% to 3.6 wt% resulted in the migration of release agent to sample surface and it increased the surface roughness. The flexural strength and impact strength were decreased approximately 30% as the low profile agent increasing from 5.0 wt% to 9.0 wt%.
In this study, a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe with superior wear resistance was developed to replace the fly ash pipe of cast iron. Wear test was performed with various combinations of SiC filler and resin materials of unsaturated polyester, vinylester, epoxy, and phenol. Test results of ASTM D4060 showed the optimal combinations of resin, filler size, and resin/filler ratios. Test results of comparison between FRP and cast iron showed the possibility to replace cast iron pipe with the FRP pipe. Field test executed to compare the wear resistance between cast iron pipe and developed FRP pipe showed the superiority of the FRP pipe.
In general, fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) wastes are simply buried or burned. Landfill brings about a permanent contamination of soil due to the inability of FRP to decompose and incineration causes an issue of generating toxic gases and dusts. There have been several ways to treat the FRP wastes such as landfill, incineration, chemical recycling, material recycling and the utilization of energy from combustion. Most methods excluding material recycling are known to have critical limitations in economic, technical and environmental manners. However it is known that material recycling is most desirable among the methods handling FRP wastes. In this study, to investigate the purpose of feasibility of material recycling, various bulk molding compound (BMC) specimens were prepared with the various contents of unsaturated polyester resin binder (25, 30, 35 wt%) and the various replacement ratios of FRP wastes powder (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 wt%) substituted for filler. To evaluate the physical properties BMC specimens, various tests such as tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength, hot water resistance and SEM imaging were conducted. As a results, mechanical strengths decreased with an increase of replacement ratio of FRP waste powder and physical properties of BMC specimens were deteriorated in the hot water resistance. The fluidity of BMC with more than 50 wt% of the replacement ratio of FRP wastes powder decreased remarkably, causing a problem in the BMC composite.

Statement of problem : There have been previous studies about considerable variations in machining accuracy and consistency in the implant-abutment-screw interfaces. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the machining accuracy and consistency of implant/abutment/screw combinations on two randomly selected implants from each of four manufactures. Material and methods : In this study, screws were respectively used to secure a cemented abutment, to a hexlock implant fixture ; teflon coated titanium alloy screw(Torq-Tite) and titanium alloy screw in Steri--Oss system, gold-plated gold-palladium alloy screw(Gold-Tite) and titanium alloy screw in 3i system gild screw ana titanium screw in AVANA Dental Implant system, and titanium screws in Paragon System. The implants were perpendicularly mounted in polymethyl methacrylate autopolymerizing acrylic resin block(Orthodontic resin, Densply International Inc. USA) by use of dental surveyer. Each abutment screw was secured to the implant with recommended torque value using a digital torque controller. Each screw was again tightened after 10 minutes. All samples were cross sectioned with grinder-polisher unit(Omnilap 2000 SBT Inc) after embeded in liquid unsaturated polyester (Epovia, Cray Valley Inc) Results : There were the largest gaps in the neck areas of screws in hexagonal extension implants which were examined in this study. The leading edge of the abutment screw thread (superior surface) was in contact with the implant body thread, and the majority of the contacting surfaces were localized to the middle portion of the mating threads. Considerable variation in the contacting surfaces was noted in the samples evaluated. Amounts of contact in the abutment screw thread were larger for assemblies with Gold-Tite screw, gold alloy screw. Torq-Tite screw than those with titanium screws. The findings of intimate contact between the screw and screw seat were seen in all samples, regardless of manufacturers. However, microgap between the head and lateral neck surface of the screw and the abutment could be dectected in all samples. The findings of intimate contact between the platform of the implant and the bottom of the abutment were consistent in all samples, regardless of manufacturers. However, microgaps between the lateral surface of external hex of the fixture and the abutment could be dectected in all samples. Conclusion : Considerable variations in machining accuracy and consistency were noted in the samples and the implant-abutment-screw interfaces were incomplete. From the results of this study, further development of the system will be required, including improvements in pattern design.

Material and methods: In this study, each two randomly selected internal implant fixtures from ITI, 3i, Avana, Bicon, Friadent, Astra, and Paragon system were used. Each abutment was connected to the implant with 32Ncm torque value using a digital torque controller or tapping. Then optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic(SEM) evaluations of the implant-abutment interfaces were conducted to assess quality of fit between the mating components. Results : 1) Generally, the geometry of the internal connection system provided for a precision fit of the implant/abutment into interface. 2) The most precision fit of the implant/abutment interface was provided in the case of Bicon System which has not screw. 3) The fit of the implant/abutment interface was usually good in the case of ITI, 3I and Avana system and the amount of fit of the implant/abutment interface was similar to each other. 4) The fit of the implant/abutment interface was usually good in the case of Friadent, Astra and Paragon system. The case of Astra system with the inclined contacting surface had the most Intimate contact among them. 5) Amount of intimate contact in the abutment screw thread to the mating fixture was larger in assembly with two-piece type which is separated screw from abutment such as Friadent, Astra and Paragon system than in that with one-piece type which is not seperated screw from abutment such as ITI, 3I and Avana system. 6) Amount of contact in the screw and the screw seat of abutment was larger in assembly of Friadent system than in asembly of Astra system of Paragon system. Conclusion: Although a little variation in machining accuracy and consistency was noted in the samples, important features of all internal connection systems were the deep, internal implant-abutment connections which provides intimate contact with the implant walls to resist micro-movement, resulting in a strong stable interface. From the results of this study, further research of the stress distribution according to the design of internal connection system will be required.

The objective of the survey is to define and judge exposure profiles semi-qualitative data in high risk processes using styrene. The survey was conducted on 98 factories out of 229 factories based on data from periodic working environment monitoring for styrene. Styrene is widely utilized as a raw material for PS and co-polymers such as ABS, SAN, SBR, SBL, unsaturated polyester resins(UPR) and others. An approximate breakdown of styrene's markets in Korea is PS 30%, expandable PS 17%, ABS 33%, SAN 5%, SBL 4%, SBR 3%, UPR 1% and other 7%. Although UPR accounts for 1% of total amount of styrene, workers dealing with it are exposed to very high concentrations up to 64 ppm. Especially styrene is widely used in the laminating process of fiberglass reinforced plastics(FRP) manufacturing industry. The Applications using styrene are largely classified into two sections which are applied to styrene monomer(SM) and UPR. SM is utilized for a raw material of resins, surfactant and adhesive. UPR is employed for FRP and non-FRP. For SM control targets are mixing colors and packing in the gelcoat resins manufacturing industry(MI), for UPR control targets out of works using UPR are 1) laminating in the MI of plastics, automobile parts and boats, 2) mixing and packing in the SMC/BMC MI, 3) molding and cutting in the other specific plastics MI, 4) mixing and coating in artificial marble product MI, 5) dipping in the electric motors & transformers MI, 6) molding in the button MI, 7) painting in the musical instrument MI. Findings from the study have given the information for the high risk processes and working practices so that occupational health professionals could focus on targeted workplaces to prevent occupational diseases. It is also useful to develop a control strategies and specific controls for high risk processes and facilities using styrene.
The use of Polymer Concrete (PC) is growing very rapidly in many structural and construction applications such as box culverts, hazardous waste containers, trench lines, floor drains and the repair and overlay of damaged cement concrete surfaces in pavements, bridges, etc. However, PC has a defect economically because resin which be used for binder is expensive. Therefore the latest research is being progressed to replace existing resin with new resin which can reduce the high cost. Here, Polymer concrete using the recycled PET(polyethylene terephthalate) has some merits such as decrease of environmental destruction, decrease of environmental pollution and development of new construction materials. The variables of this study are amount of resin, curing condition and maximum size of coarse aggregate to find out mechanic properties of this. Stress-strain curve was obtained using MTS equipment by strain control. The results indicated that modulus of elasticity was increased gradually in an ascending branch of curve, as an increase of resin content. Compressive strength was the highest for resin content of $13\%$. And Compressive strength was increased as maximum size of coarse aggregate increases. The strain at maximum stress increases with an increase of resin content and size of coarse aggregate. For the descending branch of stress-strain curve the brittle fracture was decreased when it was cured at the room temperature compared to high temperature.
In this paper, fundamental properties of Polymer Concrete(PC), made from unsaturated polyester resin based on recycled PET and recycled aggregate were investigated. Mechanical properties include strength, modulus of elasticity, and chemical resistance. Resins based on recycled PET and recycled aggregate offer the possibility of low source cost for forming useful products, and would also help alleviate an environmental problem and save energy. The results of test for resin contents and recycled aggregate ratio we, first, the strength of Polymer Concrete made with resin based on recycled PET and recycled aggregate increases with resin contents relatively, however beyond a certain resin contents the strength does not change appreciably, Second, the relationship between the compressive strength and recycled aggregate ratio at resin $9\%$ has a close correlation linearly whereas there is no correlation between the compressive strength and the flexural strength of RPC with recycled aggregate ratio. Third, the effect of acid resistance at resin $9\%$ was found to be nearly unaffected by HCI, whereas the PC with $100\%$ recycled aggregate showed poor acid resistance. Unlike acid, alkali nearly does not seem to attack the RPC as is evident from the weight change and compressive strength. And last, In case of stress-strain curve of polymer concrete with $100\%$ of natural aggregate and $100\%$ recycled aggregate it is observed the exceptional behavior resulting in different failure mechanisms of the material under compression.
In order to investigate the durability of high performance polymer concrete composites, polymer concrete specimens were prepared using the ortho-type unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) and iso-type UPR as a polymer binder and the calcium carbonate and silica fine powder as a filler. The durability of polymer concrete specimens was measured by hot water resistance, chemical resistance, pore analysis and SEM observation. The compressive strength of the specimen using the iso-type UPR was higher than that of using the ortho-type UPR, and the compressive strength of the specimen using the silica fine powder was higher than that of using the calcium carbonate filler. From hot water resistance results, it was found that the specimen using the iso-type UPR was superior to that of using the ortho-type UPR and the specimen using the calcium carbonate filler was superior to that of using the silica fine powder. The compressive strength reduction rate was measured after the chemical resistance test and the sodium hydroxide solution showed the highest reduction rate, followed by sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and calcium chloride solutions. When using the alkaline solution of sodium hydroxide, the weight reduction rate of the specimen using calcium carbonate was lower than that of using silica fine powder, while for the acidic solutions of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, the weight reduction rate of the specimen using the silica fine powder was lower than that of using calcium carbonate.
This study was performed to evaluate the engineering properties of permeable polymer concrete with fillers and unsaturated polyester resin. The following conclusions were drawn. 1. The highest strength was achieved by stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete, it was increased 17% by compressive, 148% by tensile and 188% by bending strength than that of the normal cement concrete, respectively. 2. The static modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.17{\times}10^5{\sim}1.32{\times}10^5kg/cm^2$, which was approximately 53~56% of that of the normal cement concrete. Stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete was showed relatively higher elastic modulus. The poisson's number of permeable polymer concrete was less than that of the normal cement concrete. 3. The dynamic modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.3{\times}10^5{\sim}1.5{\times}10^5kg/cm^2$, which was approximately less compared to that of the normal cement concrete. Stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete was showed higher dynamic modulus. The dynamic modulus of elasticity were increased approximately 10~13% than that of the static modulus. 4. The water permeability was in the range of $3.076{\sim}4.390{\ell}/cm^2/h$, and it was largely dependent upon the mix design. These concrete can be used to the structures which need water permeability. 5. The compressive strength, tensile strength, bending strength and elastic modulus were largely showed with the decrease of water permeability.
