  • FANET is an ad hoc network formed among the unmanned aircraft in the three-dimensional space for data transfer. Most of the research on FANET application has focused on the use of the camera sensor mounted on the unmanned aircraft to collect data from the ground, and process and delivery of the data for a specific purpose. However, the research on the fusion of WBAN and FANET that collects the data of the human body and passes through the FANET has not been studied much until now. Therefore, in this study, we study the data transmission system that collects the human body data of people working in the areas that are vulnerable to communication difficulties and passes the collected data through the FANET. In particular we analyze the possible methods to transfer the emergency data of the body in the fusion network of WBAN and FANET and provide a data transfer model that can be transmitted most efficiently.

  • Mordern industrial society pursues unmanned system and automation of manufacturing process. Abreast with this tendensy, production of goods which requires advanced accuracy is increasing as well. According to this, the work sensing time of dressing by monitoring and diagnosing the condition of grinding, which is th representative way in accurate manufacturing, is an important work to prevent serious damages which affect grinding process or products by wearing grinding wheel. Computer vision system was composed, so that grinding wheel surface was acquired by CCD camera and the change of cutting edge ratio was measured. Then we used automatic thresholding technique from histogram as a way of dividing grinding cutting edge from grinding surface. As a result, we are trying to approach unmanned system and automation by deciding more accurate time of dressing and by visualizing behavior of grinding wheel by making use of computer vision.

  • An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a powered pilotless aircraft, which is controlled remotely or autonomously. UAVs are an attractive alternative for many scientific and military organizations. UAVs can perform operations that are considered to be risky or uninhabitable for human. UA V s are currently employed in many military missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, enemy radar jamming, decoying, suppression of enemy air defense (SEAD), fixed and moving target attack, and air-to-air combat. UAVs also are employed in a number of civilian applications such as monitoring ozone depletion, inclement weather, traffic congestion, and taking images of dangerous territory. For accomplishing the UAV's missions, guarantee of survivability should be preceded. The main objective of this study is to suggest a mathematical programming model and a $A^*PS$-PGA (A-star with Post Smoothing-Parallel Genetic Algorithm) for an UAV's path planning to maximize survivability. A mathematical programming model is composed by using MRPP (Most Reliable Path Problem) and TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem). A path planning algorithm for UAV is applied by transforming MRPP into SPP (Shortest Path Problem).

  • The total number of deaths by traffic accidents is decreasing every year in our country. However, in 2009, children died in traffic accidents at a rate of 2.3 deaths per 100,000 children, which was higher than the average of OECD countries (1.9 deaths per 100,000 children). In particular, traffic accidents are showing rapid increase in school zone during the past 2 years because of problems in the designation and management of school zone. Traffic safety facilities such as road sign, reflector mirror, speed bump have the ultimate limit of vehicle accidents prevention. Thus, in school zone, children safety is still not guaranteed due to illegal parking and the absence of driver's awareness of safety. Therefore, In order to protect children from traffic accidents within school zones, we have realized a safe school zone system, which enables the drivers to better know the intended school zones and creates pedestrian environment through unmanned monitoring camera, using LabVIEW.

  • The purpose of this study is to perform radiation monitoring by acquiring gamma images and real-time optical images for 99mTc vial source using charge couple device (CCD) cameras equipped with the proposed compact gamma camera. The compact gamma camera measures 86×65×78.5 mm3 and weighs 934 g. It is equipped with a metal 3D printed diverging collimator manufactured in a 45 field of view (FOV) to detect the location of the source. The circuit's system uses system-on-chip (SoC) and field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) to establish a good connection between hardware and software. In detection modules, the photodetector (multi-pixel photon counters) is tiled at 8×8 to expand the activation area and improve sensitivity. The gadolinium aluminium gallium garnet (GAGG) measuring 0.5×0.5×3.5 mm3 was arranged in 38×38 arrays. Intrinsic and extrinsic performance tests such as energy spectrum, uniformity, and system sensitivity for other radioisotopes, and sensitivity evaluation at edges within FOV were conducted. The compact gamma camera can be mounted on unmanned equipment such as drones and robots that require miniaturization and light weight, so a wide range of applications in various fields are possible.

  • In Korea, 63% of the nation's land is made up of forests, and the average temperature of the earth has been increasing. Forest service has been operating a proactive control system for preventing the spread of forest pests such as Pine wilt disease. but there were some hurdles in timely control due to weather, topography and manpower management difficulties. In this paper, we propose a model for building fast, accurate and efficient control system by categorizing the damage and dead wood automatically based on the images acquired using small unmanned aerial vehicles based on information and communication technology. In particular, the proposed model establishes an effective response system for government affairs through cooperation in the private sector. It can also create new jobs in the unmanned aerial vehicle business and service industries.
