Unlike manned aerial vehicles, because an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has a limitation which allows only remote test during flights, it is very important to maintain the high reliability of the vehicle through pre- and post-flight tests. To this end, this paper designed an air vehicle test equipment (AVTE) for UAV which meets the derived hardware and software requirements. Based on this design, the AVTE was implemented in accordance with the actual test scenario. The implemented AVTE has the advantage of reducing the time and cost required for the test of UAV by allowing the operator to perform automatic or manual tests for necessary parts in various situations such as before and after starting engine and pre- and post-flight tests. Furthermore, this study is expected to help with the design and implementation of AVTE for other UAVs.

In this paper, we propose a path generation and tracking algorithm of an unmanned air vehicle in a two-dimensional plane given the initial and final points. The path generation algorithm using the Dubins curve proposed in this work has the advantage that it can be applied in real time to an unmanned air vehicle. The path tracking algorithm is an algorithm similar to the line-of-sight induction algorithm. In order to efficiently control the direction angle, a gain related to the look ahead distance concept is introduced. Most of UAVs have the limited maximum curvature due to the structural constraints. A numerical simulation is conducted to follow the path generated by the sliding mode controller considering the angular velocity limit. The path generation and tracking performance is verified by comparing the suggested controller with conventional control techniques.

In the air power, UAVs have played a large and diversified role in performing missions from simple to high-level complex ones. In particular, the suppression of enemy air defenses(SEAD) is very dangerous for a pilot so it is expected that the manned-unmanned teaming(MUM-T) system with tailless stealthy unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) will greatly enhance effectiveness of the mission while ensuring the pilot safe. This paper describes simulation studies of remote airborne control(RAC) environment for performing the SEAD mission by MUM-T, by which the air force pilot remotely controls tailless UAVs individually or small UAVs in swarm. Through this simulation, air force pilot can derive the concept of MUM-T mission operation with various UAVs in the future, and it can be used to upgrade the MUM-T system by verifying the effectiveness of the mission.
In this study, the status of global advanced air mobility (AAM) was investigated to derive information and communications technologies (ICTs) that should be prepared according to directions of domestic AAM development. AAM is an urban air traffic system for moving from city to city by electric vertical take-off and landing or personal aircraft. It is expected to establish a three-dimensional air traffic system that can solve ground traffic congestion caused by the rapid global urbanization. With the full-scale commercialization of AAM solutions, high-density air traffic is expected, and with the advent of the personal air vehicle (PAV), the flight space usage is expected to expand. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a safe AAM service through early research on core ICTs for autonomous flight.

While open-air compost has value as a source of nutrients for crops in agricultural land, it acts as a pollution that adversely affects the environment during rainfall, and management is required. In this study, it was intended to analyze the accuracy of calculating open-air compost volume using fixed-wing UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) capable of acquiring a wide range of images and automatic path flights and to identify the possibility of utilization. In order to evaluate the accuracy of calculating the three open-air compost volume, ground LiDAR surveys and precision surveys using a rotary UAV were performed. and compared with the open-air compost volume acquired through a fixed-wing UAV. As a result of comparing the calculation of open-air compost volume based on the ground LiDAR, the error rate of the rotary-wing was estimated to be ±5%, and the error rate of fixed-wing was -15 ~ -4%. one of three open-air compost volume calculated by fixed-wing was underestimated as about -15 %, but the deviation of the open-air compost volume was 2.9 m3, which was not significant. In addition, as a result of periodic monitoring of open-air compost using fixed-wing UAV, changes in the volume of open-air compost with time could be confirmed. These results suggested that efficient open-air compost monitoring and non-point pollutants in agricultural for a wide range using fixed-wing UAV is possible.

In general, 3-dimensional point-mass equation has been widely used for the trajectory optimization of the fixed-wing aircraft and reentry vehicle. But it should be modified and represent target vehicle's own characteristics. For a lighter-than-air vehicle such as an airship, there exists different and peculiar flight characteristics compared with the aircraft. The first part of this paper is to derive the dynamic equation of motion for the mid-altitude unmanned airship and the second part is to obtain the optimal trajectories under the minimal time flight given constraints. The trajectory optimization problem is converted into the nonlinear programming problem using Sequential Quadratic Programming approach. Finally numerical solutions are presented in the last part of the paper.

This paper describes a Power Monitoring Unit (PMU) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) electrical system, It is designed for the PMU which performs data sensing of generator, transformer rectifier unit (TRU), battery and gear box installed in UAV and operate power ON/OFF devices of mission equipment. The PMU measures the voltage and current for the aircraft power source (generators, transformer rectifier unit and battery), measures the pressure and temperature of the gearbox, and performs the mission equipment power command received from the mission computer. The PMU was designed to meet the requirements of the UAV, and was performed through structure/thermal analysis, environmental test, EMI test and ground/flight tests.
With the development of information and communication technology, the unmanned aerial vehicle industry began to attract attention as a new growth industry as it entered the fourth industrial revolution. As the size of the unmanned aerial vehicles and the scope of airspace vary from small drones to large unmanned aerial vehicles, the developed countries such as USA and Europe are developing plans for the integrated operation of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. ICAO is also working on amendments to the relevant ICAO annexes to establish international standards and recommendations for unmanned aerial vehicles. Korea also needs to prepare for the integrated operation of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that will come in the future, and for this purpose, it is necessary to review and revise the national regulation systems for the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles. This study analyzes the amendments of related annexes discussed on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) pannel, and suggests the direction of revision of the Aviation Safety Act for the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles in comparison with the existing Aviation Safety Act.
This purpose of this paper was to review the development trend of the VTOL MAVs with a ducted propellant that can fly like the VTOL at intermediate and high speeds, hovering, landing, and lifting off vertically over urban areas, warships, bridges, and mountainous terrains. The MAV differs in flight characteristics from helicopters and fixed wings in many respects. In addition to enhancing thrust, the duct protects personnel from accidental contact with the spinning rotor. The purpose of the U.S. Army FCS and DARPA's OAV program is spurring development of a the VTOL ducted MAV. Today's MAVs are equipped with video/infrared cameras to hover-and-stare at enemies hidden behind forests and hills for approximately one hour surveillance and reconnaissance. Class-I is a VTOL ducted MAV developed in size and weight that individual soldiers can store in their backpacks. Class-II is the development of an organic VTOL ducted fan MAV with twice the operating time and a wider range of flight than Class-I. MAVs will need to develop to perch-and-stare technology for lengthy operation on the current hover-and-stare. The near future OAV's concept is to expand its mission capability and efficiency with a joint operation that automatically lifts-off, lands, refuels, and recharges on the vehicle's landing pad while the manned-unmanned ground vehicle is in operation. A ducted MAV needs the development of highly accurate relative position technology using low cost and small GPS for automatic lift-off and landing on the landing pad. There is also a need to develop a common command and control architecture that enables the cooperative operation of organisms between a VTOL ducted MAV and a manned-unmanned ground vehicle.

The air data system(ADS) was developed for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) in this paper. Generally, the ADS helps flight control computer(FCC) to control the UAV above the stall speed and to hold the given altitude. The accurate measurement of airspeed and altitude of UAV is important because it indicates a flight performance and assures a safe flight. The ADS consists of MEMS pressure sensors, a lowpass filter, a micro controller unit and a pitot-tube. The ADS errors were reduced by pressure and temperature compensation of MEMS sensors. Finally, the altitude and airspeed data of the ADS was compared with GPS data in the flight test.
