The various studies and applications for UAVS(Unmaned Aerial Vehicle System) have been recently increased as a new technology to create 3D spatial information rapidly and accurately. UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is economical when comparing with conventional technique, such as satellite and aerial survey, and can quickly obtain high resolution data under 5cm. This paper examined the utilizing possibility to creating 3D spatial information and analysis the compatibility the UAV data obtained by non-metric digital camera with conventional numerical photogrammetric system. The DEM and normal orthophoto is created by exclusive S/W and DPW(Digital Photogrammetry Workstation) then analysis the accuracy of created data. As a result, the accuracy of the created DEM and normal orthophoto, which is obtained by UAV then processed by DPW, is not satisfied;so it is estimated that the compatibility the UAV data with conventional numerical photogrammetric system is low.

In the present study, we assessed the parallel computing performance of Agisoft Metashape for orthomosaic generation, which can implement aerial triangulation, generate a three-dimensional point cloud, and make an orthomosaic based on SfM (Structure from Motion) technology. Due to the nature of SfM, most of the time is spent on Align photos, which runs as a relative orientation, and Build dense cloud, which generates a three-dimensional point cloud. Metashape can parallelize the two processes by using multi-cores of CPU (Central Processing Unit) and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). An orthomosaic was created from large UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) images by six conditions combined by three parallel methods (CPU only, GPU only, and CPU + GPU) and two operating systems (Windows and Linux). To assess the consistency of the results of the conditions, RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of aerial triangulation was measured using ground control points which were automatically detected on the images without human intervention. The results of orthomosaic generation from 521 UAV images of 42.2 million pixels showed that the combination of CPU and GPU showed the best performance using the present system, and Linux showed better performance than Windows in all conditions. However, the RMSE values of aerial triangulation revealed a slight difference within an error range among the combinations. Therefore, Metashape seems to leave things to be desired so that the consistency is obtained regardless of parallel methods and operating systems.

Recently, as the demand for 3D geospatial information increases, the importance of rapid and accurate data construction has increased. Although many studies have been conducted to register UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) imagery based on LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data, which is capable of precise 3D data construction, studies using LiDAR data embedded in MMS (Mobile Mapping System) are insufficient. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed 9 matching algorithms based on feature points for registering reflectance image converted from LiDAR point cloud intensity data acquired from MMS with image data from UAV. Our results indicated that when the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm was applied, it was able to stable secure a high matching accuracy, and it was confirmed that sufficient conjugate points were extracted even in various road environments. For the registration accuracy analysis, the SIFT algorithm was able to secure the accuracy at about 10 pixels except the case when the overlapping area is low and the same pattern is repeated. This is a reasonable result considering that the distortion of the UAV altitude is included at the time of UAV image capturing. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to be used as a basic research for 3D registration of LiDAR point cloud intensity data and UAV imagery.

Due to the rapid urbanization, various traffic problems such as traffic jams during commute and regular traffic jams are occurring. In order to solve these traffic problems, it is necessary to quickly and accurately estimate and analyze traffic volume. ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) is a system that performs optimal traffic management by utilizing the latest ICT (Information and Communications Technology) technologies, and research has been conducted to analyze fast and accurate traffic volume through various techniques. In this study, we proposed a deep learning-based vehicle detection method using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) video for real-time traffic analysis with high accuracy. The UAV was used to photograph orthogonal videos necessary for training and verification at intersections where various vehicles pass and trained vehicles by classifying them into sedan, truck, and bus. The experiment on UAV dataset was carried out using YOLOv3 (You Only Look Once V3), a deep learning-based object detection technique, and the experiments achieved the overall object detection rate of 90.21%, precision of 95.10% and the recall of 85.79%.

In this study, we propose an approach for calibrating the elevation of a DEM (Digital Elevation Model), one of the key data in realizing unmanned aerial vehicle image-based precision agriculture. First of all, radiometric correction is performed on the orthophoto, and then ExG (Excess Green) is generated. The non-vegetation area is extracted based on the threshold value estimated by applying the Otsu method to ExG. Subsequently, the elevation of the DEM corresponding to the location of the non-vegetation area is extracted as EIFs (Elevation Invariant Features), which is data for elevation correction. The normalized Z-score is estimated based on the difference between the extracted EIFs to eliminate the outliers. Then, by constructing a linear regression model and correcting the elevation of the DEM, high-quality DEM is produced without GCPs (Ground Control Points). To verify the proposed method using a total of 10 DEMs, the maximum/minimum value, average/standard deviation before and after elevation correction were compared and analyzed. In addition, as a result of estimating the RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) by selecting the checkpoints, an average RMSE was derivsed as 0.35m. Comprehensively, it was confirmed that a high-quality DEM could be produced without GCPs.

In order to increase the food self-sufficiency rate, monitoring and analysis of crop conditions in the cultivated area is important, and the existing measurement methods in which agricultural personnel perform measurement and sampling analysis in the field are time-consuming and labor-intensive for this reason inefficient. In order to overcome this limitation, it is necessary to develop an efficient method for monitoring crop information in a small area where many exist. In this study, RGB images acquired from unmanned aerial vehicles and vegetation index calculated using RGB image were applied as deep learning input data to classify complex upland crops in small farmland. As a result of each input data classification, the classification using RGB images showed an overall accuracy of 80.23% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.65, In the case of using the RGB image and vegetation index, the additional data of 3 vegetation indices (ExG, ExR, VDVI) were total accuracy 89.51%, Kappa coefficient was 0.80, and 6 vegetation indices (ExG, ExR, VDVI, RGRI, NRGDI, ExGR) showed 90.35% and Kappa coefficient of 0.82. As a result, the accuracy of the data to which the vegetation index was added was relatively high compared to the method using only RGB images, and the data to which the vegetation index was added showed a significant improvement in accuracy in classifying complex crops.
We have verified applicability of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) photogrammetry to a mining engineering. The test mine is a smectite mine located at Gyeongju city in Gyeongnam province, Koera. 448 photos over area of $600m{\times}380m$ were taken with overlapped manner using Cannon Mark VI equipped to multicopter DJI S1000, which were processed with AgiSoft Photoscan software to generate orthophoto and DEM model of the study area. photogrammetry data with 10 cm resolution were generated using 6 ground control positions, which were exported to the 3D geological modeling software to make a topographic surface object. Monitoring of amount of ore production and landsliding could be done with less than 1 hours photographing as well as low cost. A direct link between UAV photogrammetry and 3D geological modeling technology might increase productivity of a mine due to appling the topographical surface change immediately according to the mining operation.

Drone has been continuously studied in the field of geography and remote sensing. The basic researches have been actively carried out before the utilization in the field of photogrammetry. In Korea, it is necessary to study the actual way of research in accordance with the drone utilization environment. In particular, analysis on the characteristics of DSM (Digital Surface Model) generated through drone are needed. In this study, the characteristic of drone DSM as a data acquisition method was analyzed for coastal management. The coastal area was selected as the study area, and data was acquired by using drone. As a result of the study, the terrain model and the ortho image of coastal area were produced. The accuracy of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) results were very high about 10cm at check points. However, concavo-convex shapes appeared in very flat areas such as tidal flats and roads. To correct this terrain model distortion, a new terrain model was created through data processing and the results were evaluated. If additional studies are carried out and the construction and analysis of terrain model using drone image is done, drone data for coastal management will be available.

This research has been focused on accessing precision and accuracy of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-derived 3-D surveying coordinates. To this end, a highly precise and accurate testing control network had been established by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) campaign and its network adjustment. The coordinates of the ground control points and the check points were estimated within 1cm accuracy for 95% of the confidence level. FC330 camera mounted on DJI Phantom 4 repeatedly took aerial photos of an experimental area seven times, and then processed them by two widely used software packages. To evaluate the precision and accuracy of the aerial surveys, 3-D coordinates of the ten check points which automatically extracted by software were compared with GNSS solutions. For the 95% confidence level, the standard deviation of two software's result is within 1cm, 2cm, and 4cm for the north-south, east-west, and height direction, and RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) is within 9cm and 8cm for the horizontal, vertical component, respectively. The interest is that the standard deviation is much smaller than RMSE. The F-ratio test was performed to confirm the statistical difference between the two software processing results. For the standard deviation and RMSE of most positional components, exception of RMSE of the height, the null hypothesis of the one-tailed tests was rejected. It indicates that the result of UAV photogrammetry can be different statistically based on the processing software.

Carbon storage is one of the regulating ecosystem services provided by urban street trees. It is important that evaluating the economic value of ecosystem services accurately. The carbon storage of street trees was calculated by measuring the morphological parameter on the field. As the method is labor-intensive and time-consuming for the macro-scale research, remote sensing has been more widely used. The airborne Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) is used in obtaining the point clouds data of a densely planted area and extracting individual trees for the carbon storage estimation. However, the LiDAR has limitations such as high cost and complicated operations. In addition, trees change over time they need to be frequently. Therefore, Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry with unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a more suitable method for obtaining point clouds data. In this paper, a UAV loaded with a digital camera was employed to take oblique aerial images for generating point cloud of street trees. We extracted the diameter of breast height (DBH) from generated point cloud data to calculate the carbon storage. We compared DBH calculated from UAV data and measured data from the field in the selected area. The calculated DBH was used to estimate the carbon storage of street trees in the study area using a regression model. The results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of applying UAV imagery and SfM technique to the carbon storage estimation of street trees. The technique can contribute to efficiently building inventories of the carbon storage of street trees in urban areas.
