  • The design of distrbuted systems is difficult to achieve as the execution patterns of distrbuted systems are typically more complex than those of non- distributed systems. Thus, research toward the development of design methods for distributed systems is quitely needed. As object-oriented systems and distrbuted systems share similar properties, the combination of these two is somehow natural. In this work, a design of distributed systems is introduced. The goal of the method in this paper is to provide assistance to the process of specifying a formal object- oriented specification from graphical representation specification inputs such as data flow diagrams, state transition diagrams and Petri nets. It addresses the extraction of objects, operations and reationshipsfrom the problem domain with emphasis on the specification of the characteristics of distributed systems. This object identification method is supported by a knowledge base that provides for the automated analysis and reasoning about objects and their relationsships. The final object model is represented in a format which provides a formal mechanism for reprsenting the object information.

  • In this paper, we have designed and simulated a new file transmission method. This method restricts memory copy and context switching happened in traditional file transmission. This method shows an improved performance than traditional method in network environment. When the UNIX/LINUX system that uses the existing file transfer technique transmits a packet to the remote system, a memory copy between the user and kernel space occurs over twice at least. Memory copy between the user and kernel space increase a file transmission time and the number of context switching. As a result, the existing file transfer technique has a problem of deteriorating the performance of file transmission. We propose a new algorithm for solving these problems. It doesn't perform memory copy between the user and kernel space. Hence, the number of memory copy and context switching is limited to the minimum. We have modified the network related source code of LINUX kernel 2.6.0 to analyzing the performance of proposed algorithm and implement new network system calls.

  • The control system is accomplishing very important role in our life currently as the national critical Infrastructure and large scale industry plant. We manage SCADA system to manage generally the control system interconnected with the information system. The operating system of SCADA is changing also to the well-known OS like Windows or UNIX for offer various convenience and facility to the user. We offered the reason why such change of the system makes so that it is exposed to cyber terror. In the traditional SCADA system is managed safely by an isolated network system physically. It is the trend to increase gradually though a cyber terror possibility is thinner on a control system than a information system but the cyber terror gives a nation or community wide damage influence of large scale if it happens. Therefore this paper presents a security safeguard plan about SCADA system and helps prepare systematic security strategy and enhance the security level implement.

  • The simulator described here-LOSIM(LOgic SIMulator)-was developed to verify the logic design for VLSI(Very Large Scale Integrated) circuits at mixed level. In this paper, we present a modeling approach to obtain more accurate results than conventional logic simulators [5-6,9] for general elements, functional elements, transmission gates and tri-state gates using eight signal values and two gignal strengths. LOSIM has the capability which can perform timing and hazard analysis by using assignable rise and fall delays. We also prosent an efficient algorithm to accurately detectdynamic and static hazards which may be caused by the circuit delays. Our approach is based on five logic values and the scheduled time. LOSIM has been implemented on a UN-3/160 workstation running Berkeley 4.2 UNIX, and the program is written in C language. Static RAM cell and asynchronous circuit are illustrated as an example.

  • In this paper, a von system which is based on current computer technologies is implemented. This von system organizes many personal computers in a local network into a configuration server, storage servers, and clients. To provide reliability, the data is stored using software RAID technology. Also, multimedia services are client-based for efficiency. The software components of this von system are the von configuration software, the von configuration service software, the von management software, and the von service software. Only the von service software runs in the client, while all the others run in the configuration server. The operating system on which the configuration server is run is the Windows NT such that the software executes like the UNIX-daemon process in the Windows NT service manager.

  • Recently as the user request on NoD (News-on-Demand) is largely increasing, there are a lot of researches to fulfill it. However, because of short life-cycle of new video data and periodical change of video data depending on anchor, it is difficult to apply the conventional video storage techniques to NOD applications directly. For this, we design and implement low-level storage manager for efficient storage and retrieval of multimedia data in NOD Services. Our low-level storage manager not only efficiently sotres video stream dat of new video itself, but also handles its index information. It provides an inverted file method for efficient text-based retrieval and an X-tree index structure for high-dimensional feature vectors. In addition, our low-level storage manager provides some application program interfaces (APIs) for storing video objects itself and index information extracted from hierarchial new video and some APIs for retrieving video objects easily by using cursors. Finally, we implement our low-level storage manager based on SHORE (Scalable Heterogeneous Object REpository) storage system by sunig a standard C++ language under UNIX operating system.

  • This paper presents the design and the implementation of CRESTIVE-DX, a concolic testing tool that distribute the concolic testing process over the embedded target system and the host system for efficient test generation of a target embedded program. CRESTIVE-DX conducts the execution of a target program on the target embedded system to consider possible machine-dependent behaviors of a target program execution, and conducts machine-independent parts, such as search-strategy heuristics, constraint solving, on host systems with high-speed computation unit, and coordinates their concurrent executions. CRESTIVE-DX is implemented by extending an existing concolic testing tool for C programs CREST. We conducted experiments with a test bed that consists of an embedded target system in the Arm Cortex A54 architecture and host systems in the x86-64 architecture. The results of experiments with Unix utility programs Grep, Busybox Awk, and Busybox Ed show that test input generation of CRESTIVE-DX is 1.59 to 2.64 times faster than that of CREST.

  • Within a context of rapid technological change and shifting market conditions, the education environment requires new paradigm of education delivery In accordance of such a technological progress, distance education system, which makes the loaming take place at anytime anywhere, overcoming barriers of time, or distance, is emerging as a mainstream of education delivery replacing the convectional one way delivery system from instructor to learners. This Paper aims to introduce the development principle and algorithm about Instructional System Design(ISD) module, a part of a total solution for distance education services. It was developed on Linux, a free Unix-type operating system. Linux supports so various network protocols, sharing the network resources in a smooth way, that it is able to integrate with other operating system very easily, especially with Windows NT or Windows 2000 servers. In terms of quality, it never falls behind the windows products which are commercially available only, It is a right operating system for the such a school environment that is usually limited in budgets. The development environment of the distance education solution to which ISD module belongs is composing of Apache server for web server, Java bean based on components for ISD module, PHP, server-side scripting language, for HTML documents and MySQL for DBMS.

A Study on the Piezoelectric Sensor Response Characteristic of PVDF Organic Thin Film by Vapor Deposition Method (진공증착법으로 제조된 PVDF 유기박막의 압전 센서 응답 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to discuss the fabrication of $\beta$-PVDF($\beta$-Polyvinylidene fluoride, ${\beta}-PVF_2$) organic thin films through the vapor deposition method and to investigate the piezoelectric properties of the organic thin films produced. Vapor deposition was performed under the following conditions : the temperature of evaporator, the applied electric field and the pressure of reaction chamber were $270^{\circ}C$, 142.4 kV/cm and $2.0{\times}10^{-5}Torr$, respectively. The results showed that the amount of $\beta$-form PVDF increased from 72 % to 95.5 % with an increase in the substrate temperature. In the case of a sensor response characteristic by varying the force moment from $1.372{\times}10^{-5}N{\cdot}m$ to $39.2{\times}10^{-5}N{\cdot}m$, the output voltage increased from 1.39V to 7.04V.

A Study on the Piezoelectric Characteristic of P(VDF-TrFE) Copolymer Thin Film by Physical Vapor Deposition Method (진공증착법을 이용한 P(VDF-TrFE) 공중합체 박막의 압전특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, the P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer thin films were prepared by the physical vapor deposition and studied to their piezoelectric properties. In the case of a specimen produced by varying the deposition temperature from $260^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$, its piezoelectric coefficient($d_{33}$) increased from 32.3pC/N to 36.28pC/N, and piezoelectric voltage coefficient($g_{33}$) from $793{\times}10^{-3}V{\cdot}m/N$ to $910.5{\times}10^{-3}V{\cdot}m/N$. On the basis of these experimental results, we concluded that the P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer thin film prepared at $300^{\circ}C$ showed the optimum piezoelectric properties. At the deposition temperature of $320^{\circ}C$, its piezoelectric coefficient(d33) decreased 25.3 pC/N and piezoelectric voltage coefficient($g_{33}$) $680{\times}10^{-3}V{\cdot}m/N$.
