코로나 19가 사회 전반은 물론 도서관에도 영향을 주고 있다. 특히, 대학도서관은 대학에서 제공하는 대부분의 수업이 비대면으로 전환되고, 도서관 이용이 제한됨에 따라 역할과 서비스에 많은 변화가 일어나고 있다. 코로나 19로 인한 이용자의 정보이용 및 커뮤니케이션 행태의 변화는 대학도서관이 갖고 있는 인적·물적 자원의 새로운 활용과 서비스 개발을 위한 기회가 될 수 있다. 그러나, 반대로 지금의 변화에 적절히 대응하지 못한다면 대학도서관에 또 다른 위기를 초래할 수 있다. 따라서, 코로나 19의 영향에 대한 철저한 파악과 분석, 그리고 대응방안 마련이 필요하다. 대학도서관의 코로나 19 영향과 대응방안, 그리고 대학도서관의 인식을 조사한 결과, 대부분의 대학도서관이 코로나 19에 적절히 대응하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 그러나, 코로나 19에 따른 대학도서관의 현재와 미래에 대한 인식을 조사한 결과, 부정적인 영향을 미칠 것이라는 응답이 높게 나타났다, 이는 코로나 19로 야기된 변화가 대학도서관에 위기와 불안감의 요인이 되고 있다는 의미로 해석된다. 따라서, 대학도서관계의 공동의 노력을 통해 현재 상황에 대한 대처는 물론 포스트 코로나 시대 대학도서관의 새로운 역할과 서비스, 그리고 방향성이 제시될 필요가 있다.

The study investigated the role of libraries in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. Six research objectives were raised to guide the conduct of the study. The survey type of the descriptive research design was employed. The population of the study comprised of 139 selected librarians in Nigeria. The complete enumerative sampling technique was adopted to study the entire 139 librarians. The instrument for data collection was an online survey questionnaire designed by the researchers using SurveyMonkey and administered to the respondents via the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) WhatsApp group and the NLA Google group. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study revealed that among the services delivered by Nigerian libraries amidst the global pandemic are COVID-19 awareness and sensitization creation, provision of digital contents to patron, organizing online streaming programs and connecting patrons/citizens to accurate and reliable data on COVID-19 cases around the world. The study further revealed that these services are delivered frequently despite the low level of Nigerian libraries' preparedness for global pandemic. The study concluded that, Nigerian libraries, through their services, are potent weapon for promoting positive change, development, orientation, and re-orientation in the society. By creating COVID-19 awareness/sensitization (especially in rural areas), libraries are able to contribute significantly to the fight against the pandemic.

This paper examines the characteristics of 23 libraries affiliated with educational institutions of the Korean miltary. Materials and data used in this analysis were obtained from a variety of statute books, Korean Library Association publications, past works in military-related research, questionnaires and interviews with library staff. For each military educational institutions, the background to its foundation and Its current operations are briefly reviewed. Library characteristics subjected to analysis pertain to the following 8 areas： location and architecture, stack arrangement, furniture and furnishings, personnel, service elements, budget, book stock, and extent of computerization. The affiliated library (consisting of reading rooms and/or stack rooms) is then classified as belonging to one of the following three levels: graduate-school level (total of 4 libraries), university level (5 libraries), and technical-school level (14 libraries). When necessary. particular libraries are examined in detail. This research reveals that while most graduate-school and university level libraries are being operated on a relatively sound basis, there are significant disparities among university level libraries. As for technical-school level libraries, the lack of professional staff and service elements for users is seriously impairing their operations. In order to address these problems and support military education and research in the age of segyehwa and information, it is suggested that the Korean military formulate comprehensive measures to modernize library facilities and improve their operations.

This study aimed to determine eco-friendly factors on the aspects of library service, materials provided or handled by the library, and programs including educational programs. Furthermore, it was setup to perform a trial evaluation for the eco-friendliness of the library based on the determined evaluation standards by this study. Results are as follows; First, regarding the question of 'Do employees of the library think that establishment of green libraries is necessary?', the employees of the libraries responded yes by 65.52%, but only 4.6% responded that it would not be necessary. Second, in analyzing the most important evaluation areas of green libraries according to the opinions of the libraries' employees, they were ranked in order: the indoor environment, energy and prevention of environmental pollution, and material and resource areas. Third, 11 areas were determined to evaluate the level of greening in the libraries; the highest averages were scored 510 for the area of energy and prevention of environmental pollution, 415 for the area of library resource, and 320 for the area of indoor environment. Last, the libraries were graded based on actual data according to the results to measure the level of greening, two libraries were graded as Diamond, the highest grade, accounting for 15.39% of all libraries; Gold and Silver grades accounted for another 15.39%, together five Certified graded libraries accounted for 38.46%, which was the highest rate among the libraries. Any library scoring less than 20% when compared to the full score was graded as Non-certified, and one library, which scored 15.06% fell into this category. The results of this study set up to serve as basic data for the direction of development for green libraries in our country, as well as reference for the employees of libraries in constructing or remodeling library buildings, establishing service infrastructure, providing information service, and planning library duties in an eco-friendly way.

As the South Korean government has recently announced its intention to implement a three-year policy on building additional libraries and complex community centers as the community-based everyday life SOC project, society has shed new light on libraries as public service institutions. Accordingly, this study was conducted to determine the factors affecting resident satisfaction with public libraries, intention to use, and intention to recommend public libraries, for use as basic data to increase resident satisfaction and use of public libraries in South Korea. To this end, we conducted a survey on residents who have experience with using 13 public libraries designated as regional representative libraries in South Korea. The surveyed data was verified with a structural equation using AMOS. The results were as follows. First, all factors, such as material, facility, staff, program, and service, except location and space, had a significant effect on resident satisfaction with public libraries. Second, it was found that satisfaction had a significant effect on the intention to use and intention to recommend. The results of this study may contribute to qualitatively improving public library services by reflecting the changing needs of users, as well as social trends at the working level of libraries in South Korean society.

This paper is a study of the organization and use of theses collections in university libraries of Korea. A questionnaire consisted of 31 questions on 6 items was sent to 44 university libraries of which 40 libraries responded. Results of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. Figures concerning registration of theses can be tabulated as follows. 2. In differentiation of oriental and occidental theses, 20 libraries (50%) depend on the basis of the text language. 3. Thirty-four libraries (85%) classify the theses and 27 (80%) of them use the same tables with book classification schedules. For classification level, 17 libraries (48.6%) classify them in section numbers whereas 13 (37.1%) in sub-sections. 4. Catalog or index cards of theses are made in 35 libraries (87.5%) of which 20 libraries are using the second level of bibliographic description. 5. Roman alphabets in a title are described a such 27 libraries (67.5%). 6. Most of respondents are preparing author, title and classified catalog cards for users. The research reveals that only 8 libraries are giving subject headings to the theses. 7. Twenty-three libraries (63.9%) have theses catalogs in separation from their book catalogs. 8. Most helpful bibliographic elements in an entry for users are reported to be author, title, date and notes. In general, theses collections have many different features in various aspects compared with book materials. Therefore it is desirable to process the former differently with the latter. Firstly, it would be more convenient to register theses on the different register from the book register. Secondly, minute classification of theses would be necessary for their users. thirdly, text language is the common basis of discriminating oriental materials and occidental ones. Fourthly, a simple catalog would be quite good enough to use theses collection, for most helpful elements in an entry are limited to author, title, date and notes. Fifthly, it is strongly recommendable to transcribe all the roman alphabets on the titles into Korean alphabets. Sixthly, the research revealed that our library would needs to develop subject heading work which is for behind other library works.

본 연구는 대학도서관이 급변하는 경쟁사회에서 조직의 전략적인 경영에서 TQM(Total Quality Management)을 적용시키는데 있어서의 이론적인 배경과 개념, 개발에 초점을 두고 있다. 대학도서관에서의 TQM의 적용은 대학도서관이 급변하는 환경을 극복하기 위한 적극적인 대응 방법과 새로운 실제적인 전략을 수행 있도록 인식시키는데 있다. 대학도서관에서 TQM을 가지고 적용 가능한 구조를 도출하고, 대학도서관에서 TQM을 수행할 수 있는 효율적인 모델을 제시하고, 대학도서관 조직 경영에서 TQM의 기본적인 요소인 조직 문화, 직무 만족, 이용자 만족의 변수를 가지고 최고 경영자의 리더십의 영향 관계를 분석하고자 하였다.

This paper aims at projecting the structure and functions of District Central Libraries in Tamil Nadu based upon primary records collected from the Directorate of Public Libraries and survey of District Library officers who are the authorities of District Central Libraries. This paper reveals the State of Art the District Central Libraries and their functions. Based on outputs a number of suggestions have been provided. This paper represents an empirical research study.

전문도서관은 특정주제 분야의 장서를 집중적으로 수집하는 수서정책을 시행하고 있으므로 핵심 연속간행물은 구독을 계속하고 거의 이용이 되지 않는 연속간행물은 구독을 취소하며 취소한 연속간행물의 원문요구에 대해서는 원문제공 서비스를 활용하는 것이 바람직하다. 국내의 전문도서관이 원문제공 서비스를 추진하는 방법 가운데 영역별 도서관협의회 가입은 보편적이면서도 적절한 방법인 것으로 보인다. 전통적으로 타관종과 전문도서관의 상호협력보다는 전문도서관간의 상호협력이 보다 활발했기 때문이며 아울러 공동활용의 성패에 영향을 주는 공동수서까지도 원만하게 추진할 수 있는 여건을 조성해주기 때문이다.

This study comprehensively draws a conclusion using factors of economic, social, and educational value and performed a survey on librarians and users to compare and analyze the difference in perception between the two groups. The result are as follows: First, Libraries had the social value not only on research and personal learning but also on establishment and vitalization of communities, provision of opportunities to share ideas between local residents and create something new, and provision of recreation to improve the residents' capability. Second, both groups evaluated the libraries' educational role and function relatively highly. In particular, the librarians scored very high for the items that the libraries' educational role was expanding, the libraries were a part of the educational system, and the libraries' value on reading and literacy was great, and the users thought that libraries had an value because they were a part of education and the educational system. Third, economic value part also obtained relatively lower scores than other values; the mean of the librarian group was 3.46 and the user group was 3.43. Among the economic values, the librarian group scored the highest for the area of economic value for local communities, and the greatest scores were given to manpower development by the users.
