  • This research aims to analyse implementation effects of the Real mathematics Education(RME) in the high school probability and statistics For this aim, two research questions are estabilished as fellows. (1) Is there any improvement of mathematical achievement in the class by RME's lecture than in the class by the mathematics text's lecture ? (2) Is there any improvement of mathematisation level in the class by RME's lecture than in the class by the mathematics text's lecture ? Before answering the above research questions, RME.`s lecture notes and ordinary lecture notes are developed based on the learning principles of the RME and mathematics textbook respectively. Two classes are randomly chosen from a high school located at midium size city and assigned as the experimental group and the control group respectively. The 20 hours of the RME's lecture notes is administerd to the experimental group and the 20 hours of the odinary lecture notes is administerd to the control group. It is shown that the class by RME's lecture is more effective in both of the mathematical achievement and the mathematisation activity than the class by the ordinary lecture. Hence, it is urged from the result of this research that RME's context will be developed and the RME's lecture will be implemented in the other field of high school mathematics.

  • Background: To survey and analyze awareness and recognition during a non-face-to-face lecture, and satisfaction with among dental technology students. Methods: Total 179 undergraduates were surveyed from the Department of Dental Technology. Frequency analysis, cross analysis, independent sample t-test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used for analyzing statistics. Results: Overall satisfaction with the non-face-to-face lecture was the highest (p=.037) while watching a recorded lecture in the theory curriculum subject. In the case of practical subjects, satisfaction with face-to-face lectures appeared to be higher (p=.039) compared to non-face-to-face lectures. Factors influencing the recognition of non-face-to-face lecture quality included awareness of a place to conduct a class and of face-to-face delivered lecture quality, satisfaction with face-to-face lecture, and satisfaction with non-face-to-face lecture. Factors affecting satisfaction with a non-face-to-face lecture included a place to conduct a class, the most effective theory non-face-to-face class method, the method of having been experienced the most among non-face-to-face lecture methods, and the recognition of non-face-to-face lecture quality. Conclusions: Future educational environment should include combined face-to-face and non-face-to-face lectures. An efficient educational indicator will be needed to evaluate learners' assessments and opinions about online classes, followed by its application to teaching methods.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This research was conducted to compare lecture- and experience-based methods of nutritional education as well as provide fundamental data for developing an effective nutritional education program in elementary schools. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 110 students in three elementary schools in Jeollanam-do were recruited and randomly distributed in lecture- and experience-based groups. The effects of education on students' dietary knowledge, dietary behaviors, and dietary habits were analyzed using a pre/post-test. RESULTS: Lecture- and experience-based methods did not significantly alter total scores for dietary knowledge in any group, although lecture-based method led to improvement for some detailed questions. In the experience-based group, subjects showed significant alteration of dietary behaviors, whereas lecture-based method showed alteration of dietary habits. CONCLUSIONS: These outcomes suggest that lecture- and experience-based methods led to differential improvement of students' dietary habits, behaviors, and knowledge. To obtain better nutritional education results, both lectures and experiential activities need to be considered.

  • Lecture rooms are crowded with many attendees. Moreover, they rely significantly on the natural ventilation through windows for removing and controlling indoor contaminants such as CO2. With the aim of broadening the understanding of the characteristics of natural ventilation phenomena in lecture rooms, the average individual CO2 release rates of attendees were measured during the course of a lecture and compared with previously reported CO2 release rates. In addition, the effects of natural ventilation through windows on the time-variant CO2 concentrations in the center of the lecture room were measured and analyzed. Moreover, details about the overall and regional CO2 concentrations, as well as the air flows in the lecture room, were simulated and analyzed with computational fluid dynamics software, Fluent 2020 R2. It was found that the average individual CO2 release rates were slightly slower than previously reported rates. The local CO2 concentrations in the lecture room for regions with a high density of attendees increased over a short period of time, although the natural ventilation was already started by opening the windows. The overall CO2 concentration in the lecture room rapidly decreased in the early stage of ventilation, but declined very slowly after a longer period of ventilation time. Therefore, in order to enhance the efficiency of a lecture room's natural ventilation, it is recommended to homogeneously distribute the attendees in the lecture room, and to frequently open the windows for short periods of time.
