본 연구는 한국어 문장 임베딩(embedding)에 담겨진 언어적 속성을 평가하기 위한 프로빙 태스크(Probing Task)를 소개한다. 프로빙 태스크는 임베딩으로부터 문장의 표층적, 통사적, 의미적 속성을 구분하는 문제로 영어, 폴란드어, 러시아어 문장에 적용된 프로빙 테스크를 소개하고, 이를 기반으로하여 한국어 문장의 속성을 잘 보여주는 한국어 문장 임베딩 프로빙 태스크를 설계하였다. 언어 공통적으로 적용 가능한 6개의 프로빙 태스크와 한국어 문장의 주요 특징인 주어 생략(SubjOmission), 부정법(Negation), 경어법(Honorifics)을 추가로 고안하여 총 9개의 프로빙 태스크를 구성하였다. 각 태스크를 위한 데이터셋은 '세종 구문분석 말뭉치'를 의존구문문법(Universal Dependency Grammar) 구조로 변환한 후 자동으로 구축하였다. HuggingFace에 공개된 4개의 다국어(multilingual) 문장 인코더와 4개의 한국어 문장 인코더로부터 획득한 임베딩의 언어적 속성을 프로빙 태스크를 통해 비교 분석한 결과, 다국어 문장 인코더인 mBART가 9개의 프로빙 태스크에서 전반적으로 높은 성능을 보였다. 또한 한국어 문장 임베딩에는 표층적, 통사적 속성보다는 심층적인 의미적 속성을 더욱 잘 담고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Doris Lessing, who considers science and technology as instruments of capitalism, deals with the theme of 'biological evolution' in The Sirian Experiments, the third book in the Canopus in Argos: Archives series. One of her themes that repeats throughout is that of 'spiritual evolution,' and in The Four-Gated City she even used 'biological evolution' as its metaphor. This paper analyzes The Sirian Experiments using scientific knowledge such as the concept of 'biological evolution' from Charles Darwin's evolution theory and Edward O. Wilson's sociobiology. Lessing concludes that while 'biological evolution' not accompanied with 'spiritual evolution' puts humans in existential problems and mental breakdown, the one in equilibrium with the other can bring social and political revolution. Lessing's concept of 'spiritual evolution' is basically a product of her holistic view and her own philosophical view that human evolution is a necessary process following the Universal Order, which shows that she is influenced by Sufism. The basic tenet in Sufi philosophy is to achieve equilibrium between the rational and non-rational modes of consciousness. Lessing incorporates her rational and irrational ideas into The Sirian Experiments to make a field for confluence where the biological, the sociological, and the spiritual thinking converge.

Objective: Various controlled vocabulary such as thesaurus and classification make us to reuse and share effectively by defining different concept and linking terms each other. The UMLS(Unified Medical Language System) is one of the most universal medical terminology systems. It is needed various methods to share and reuse information of traditional Korean medicine. We will research on method that adopt SUI of the UMLS(that is de facto standard in medical terminology system) in traditional Korean medical terminology. Method: We described major problems and applying process when we tried to add traditional Korean medicine in the part of meridian into the UMLS metathesaurus. Comparing western medical terms and traditional Korean medical terms for applying UMLS metathesaurus, there is not only many consistency, but also differences. Result: We confirmed what is the differences and consistency between western medical terms and traditional Korean medical terms. And then reviewed methods that apply the CUI, LUI, SUI in traditional Korean medical terms. Traditional Korean medical terms are not discriminated by singular or plural string. In addition, traditional Korean medical terms have vary string by initial law: the law of initial sound of a syllable. Character is described with Korean, traditional Chinese, modern Chinese, etc. According to meaning, language, initial law, SUI has a distinct value respectively. Conclusion: There are many differences to apply the UMLS between western medical terms and traditional Korean medical terms. For the better implementation to traditional Korean medicine into the UMLS, further research is needed in standardization and classification of traditional Korean medical terms, medical information system, etc. We hope this study helps the implementation UMLS, EHR, knowledge based system in Oriental medicine in the future.

이 연구에서 엔트리 명령 블록을 이용하여 보편적 프로그래밍 언어를 개발하고 검증하였다. 그래서 이 연구를 통해 블록형 프로그래밍 언어의 접근 수월성을 이용하여 절차적 사고력 향상을 위한 아이디어를 제공하고자 하였다. 새로운 프로그래밍 언어를 만들어 알고리즘을 적용하여 함수화된 사칙연산 프로그램을 만들면서, 다양한 알고리즘을 적용하면 엔트리에서 제시하는 모든 명령 블록을 만들 수 있음을 증명하였다. 이 연구를 통해 1)프로그래밍 언어에 포함된 다양한 기능의 명령어들도 함수화되어 있음을 증명하고 재생산 가능함을 경험할 수 있는 아이디어를 제공하고, 2)초보 프로그래머들이 프로그래밍 언어 개발에 대한 흥미와 관심을 갖게 되는 방안을 제시하며, 3)알고리즘을 경험하면서 절차적 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있는 다른 방향의 SW 교수 학습 방법과, 4)프로그래밍 언어를 미시적으로 탐구하면서 SW 교육 관점을 다양화하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이 연구에서 제시한 방안으로 학생들이 절차적 사고력 향상과 프로그래밍 언어의 다양성 인식, 프로그램을 심층적으로 분석하는 태도 등의 SW 교육에 대한 긍정적 변화를 기대한다.

This paper explores whether there is correlation between consonants' place and duration of adjacent vowels in English and Korean. The results showed that in English the vowels preceding alveolar stops were in general longer than the vowels before bilabial or velar stops. Consonants appeared to have their inherent length due to their place and to exhibit some compensatory effects on the duration of preceding vowels. This effect can be explained in a physiological term that the tongue tip is the organ which might be more agile in articulatory movement than the tongue body for the velars or the lower lip (and the jaw) for the bilabials is and the shorter production time of the alveolars caused the lengthening of the adjacent vowels. However, this physiological account did not hold in the case of Korean, which exhibited less consistent patterns across speakers for the consonants' place and the vowel duration. The segmental duration seemed to be timed quite consistently within a language but the pattern was not universal across languages.

News contents, produced for paper readers, are more and more being used online instead of offline. Internet sites, expecially portals(naver, daum, nate etc.) are dominant marketplaces, where news are exchanged and values are added. So, establishing a new online news service system, which can satisfy news provider(copyright owner) and internet service provider together, is a necessary task under current online-dominant news service environment. UCI(Universal & Ubiquitous Content Identifier) and IPTC NewsML(News Mark-up Language) are considered as useful standards to compromise protection of news-copyright and enhancement of online use of news contents. This study is based on a real case of 'NewsBank' in korea, We expect that this study can show an inspiration to obtain two contradictory goals of copyright protection and free online use of copyright.

In present web service structure, the service begins when supplier register the information of its service to UDDI(Universal Description Discovery and Integration). When user searches service directory in UDDI, the position of service is transmitted to it. And then, user requests WSDL(Web Service Description Language) to the supplier. When WSDL is delivered to user, user requests the service according to WSDL. This thesis simplifies this web service process. This makes WSDL owned by supplier stored to WSDLBASE when supplier register its service. Also this makes it possible that user search the service and receives WSDL.

This paper reports the results of an experimental phonetic study of intonation contrasts perception by speakers of British English, Japanese and Russian. Six series of re-synthesized two-syllable rise-fall contours with manipulated parameters of the rise in the first and the fall in the second syllable were employed in the experiment. Modifications of pitch height were executed in 2 st steps, and of duration in 30ms steps. The subjects, who were native speakers of British English, Japanese and Russian, identified the sentence type of presented re-synthesized stimuli. The results of the experiments demonstrate overall similarity of the perception strategies across the three groups of subjects, especially regarding the thresholds of declarative' sentence type judgement. Non-declarative judgements are more language-specific. The results can be employed for the teaching of English, Japanese and Russian as foreign languages as well as for speech synthesis and recognition.

The present research investigates the acquisition of the English locative alternation by Korean EFL learners, which poses a learnability paradox, taking Pinker's framework of learnability theory as its basis. It addresses two questions (1) how lexical knowledge is represented initially and at different levels of interlanguage development and (2) what kinds of difficulty Korean learners find in the acquisition of English locative verbs and their constructions. Three groups of learners at different proficiency levels with a control group of English native speakers are examined by two instruments: elicited production task and grammaticality judgment task. According to different levels of proficiency, the learners exhibit gradual sensitivity to a change-of-state meaning and obtain complete perception of the meanings of locative verbs (manner-of-motion and change-of-state) and their constructions. Overgeneralization errors are observed in their performance. The errors are due to misinterpretations of particular lexical items in conjunction with the universal linking rules. More fundamental cause of difficulty is accounted for by partial use of learning mechanisms, caused by insufficient L2 input.

This paper describes the evolution of the infinitive in terms of its progressive formal and semantic grammaticization, using the German infinitive as an example. It is shown that the infinitive has its diachronic origin in a nominal purposive form and that the grammaticization of a purposive form to an infinitive is a widespread phenomenon in the languages of the world. This original function of the infinitive is important for understanding its nature, and the most interesting syntactic property of infinitive, the absence of an explicit subject, can be shown to follow from it. Finally, this paper shows that the diachronic process of the grammaticization of a purposive form is even more general, occurring also in the case of purposive markers in finite clauses.
