when one is designing a continuous bridge with variable cross sections, it is very troublesome to integrate explicitly load terms and various factor under consideration so that it has different moment of inertia at each cross section. In this paper to obtain the influence line of a arbitary-span continuous beam with variable cross sections, the value of some particular function due to a load at any point can be carried out by numerical integration instead of definite integral. The ordinate of the influence line equals the product of the magnitude of the final moment at each support due to unit moment at any support and the load terms due to unit load, measured at the point of application of the load. It is concluded that this method can be easily used to design continuous bridges with arbitary cross sections.

This study introduces a model of territorial analysis on Chungcheongnam-do Nonsan-chun valley area, which gives an example of a method of selecting the management area for non-point pollution source from land use to help eliminate its source. High discharge load per unit area signify high level of land ratio with high level of basic unit of development load (including factory sites, school sites, roadways), which mean that there are a significant level of urbanization. It is these areas with the examination of the water quality of the nearby river that should be considered as the management area for non-point pollution source. Thus, the management area for non-point pollution source should be sought in areas with high discharge load per unit area and high density of water pollution area. When level of drainage is high the pollution density level is relatively lower, and when the level of drainage is low the density level is relatively higher. The level of pollution from non-point pollution source is much lower with more water flowing through. The possible non-point pollution source areas that were selected with these standards were then examined with the distance from the river, the slope angle, land usage, elevation, BOD discharge density load, T-N discharge density load, T-P discharge density load, and were given a level one through five. Out of the possible areas Nonsan-si Yeonmu-eup Anshim-li was the densest area, and it was given level one. The level one area should be examined further with the field analysis to be selected as the actual management area for non-point pollution source.

In this paper a power management unit for solar energy harvesting is proposed. If solar energy is sufficient, Power Management Unit(PMU) directly supplies load with solar energy. By contrast, if solar energy is insufficient to operate sensor nodes, voltage booster(VB) boosts the solar cell's output voltage, and then PMU supplies load with the harvested energy. The designed circuit had been fabricated using a 018um CMOS process. In the first case, the PMU supplies load with more energy than in the second case. In the second case where a VB is used, the PMU operates to supply load with solar energy even when illumination is low and minimum solar cells with very low output voltage are used.

Paldang lake which is the most important water resource in Korea is classified as a stream type reservoir and water quality of Paldang lake can be significantly influenced by external pollutant source. So this study was aimed to determine focused control BOD and TP sources of each unit watershed upper Paldang lake through analysis of pollutant source distribution and pollutant runoff characteristics. Generated load, discharge load, delivery load and each load density of 11 unit watersheds upper Paldang lake were calculated using data of water quality and flow rate from pollutant sources and 74 small streams. As a result of generated load, discharge load and delivery load of BOD and TP from pollutant sources, the most BOD generated load was taken by livestock with 66% of total BOD discharge load and domestic had the most BOD discharge load, 42.7%. The ratio of delivery load of livestock and domestic was 36.4% and 34.3%, respectively. Livestock occupied high ratio of TP generated load, discharge load and delivery load with 82.5%, 44.4% and 46.7%, respectively. Gyeongan watershed which had high population density showed the highest BOD delivery load density of $14.6kg/km^2/d$ and the highest TP delivery load density with $1.23kg/km^2/d$ was analyzed in Cheongmi watershed including the biggest number of livestock. From these results, management of domestic sewer and livestock excrement was determined as a focused control pollutant source. And intensive management about domestic sewer in Gyeongan stream and livestock excrement in Cheongmi stream is required for water quality improvement of Paldang lake.
For the development of design chart for drilled shafts socketed into weathered zone, the 6 bi-directional pile load tests with load transfer measurements done in two in-situ sites were performed. Also, DCPTs were performed in each test point. Maximum unit skin frictions and maximum unit end bearing capacities from pile load test results were analyzed. Inter-relationships between DCPT's characteristics were also analyzed. In the soils, the inter-relationships of maximum unit skin friction and DCPT appeared so low. But in the weathered zones, inter-relationships between maximum unit skin friction / maximum unit end bearing capacity and DCPT were so high that the coefficient of correlation is over 0.70.

As office automation appliances and communication equipments are adopted in office buildings, internal heat gains increase gradually. When making simulation model, internal heat gains are usually set up with standard values or ignored. Therefore, the impact of the internal heat gains has been ignored or not been focused although it is recognised as significant contributor to heating/cooling load of buildings. This study focused on the impact of internal heat gains on curtain wall buildings. the amount and schedules of heat internal gains profiles not only affect the profiles of heating/cooling loads, but also make impact on reducing the effectiveness of high performance glazing systems. It is important to identify internal heat gains profiles before considering the installation of high performance glazing systems.
Studying the control strategy of a microgrid under the load unbalanced state helps to improve the stability of the system. The magnitude of the power fluctuation, which occurs between the power supply and the load, is generated in a microgrid under the load unbalanced state is called negative sequence reactive power $Q^-$. Traditional power distribution methods such as P-f, Q-E droop control can only distribute power with positive sequence current information. However, they have no effect on $Q^-$ with negative sequence current information. In this paper, a stationary-frame control method for power sharing and voltage unbalance compensation in islanded microgrids is proposed. This method is based on the proper output impedance control of distributed generation unit (DG unit) interface converters. The control system of a DG unit mainly consists of an active-power-frequency and reactive-power-voltage droop controller, an output impedance controller, and voltage and current controllers. The proposed method allows for the sharing of imbalance current among the DG unit and it can compensate voltage unbalance at the same time. The design approach of the control system is discussed in detail. Simulation and experimental results are presented. These results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective in the compensation of voltage unbalance and the power distribution.

For the reliability evaluation of the track drive unit(TDU), firstly, we analyzed the major failure modes through FMEA(failure mode & effects analysis), FTA(failure tree analysis), and 2-stage QFD(quality function deployment), and then quantitatively determined the priority order of test items. The Minitab analysis was also performed for prediction of life distribution and parameters of TDU by use of field failure data collected from 430 excavators for two years. In addition, we converted the fluctuation load in field conditions into the equivalent load, and for evaluation of the accelerated lift by the cumulative fatigues, the equivalent load is again divided into the fluctuation load by reference of test time. And then, by use of the test method in this paper, the acceleration factor(AF) of needle bearing inside planetary gear which is the most weakly designed part of TDU is achieved as 5.3. This paper presents the quantitative selection method of test items for reliability evaluation, the determination method of the accelerated life test time, and the method of non-failure test time based on a few of samples. And, we proved the propriety of the proposed methods by experiments using a TDU for a 30 ton excavator.

Prefabricated houses are fabricated at the factory for approximately 60 to 80% of the entire construction process, and assembled in the field. In the process of transporting and lifting, internal and external finishes of the unit module are concerned about damages. The purpose of this study is to improve the fixing equipment by analyzing load behavior. The improved fixing equipment would minimize the deformation of internal and external finishes. In order to develop the improved fixing equipment, transporting load on the fixing equipment is analyzed using Monte Carlo simulations, and structural performance is verified by the non-linear finite element analysis. Statistical analysis shows load distribution of unit module is similar with extreme value distribution. Based on the statistical analysis and Monte Carlo simulation, the maximum transporting load is 28.9kN and 95% confidence interval of transporting load is -1.22kN to 9.5kN. The nonlinear structural analysis shows improved fixing equipment is not destructed to the limit load of 35.3kN and withstands the load-bearing in the 95% confidence interval of transporting load.
This study examined the structural behaviors and ultimate loads of assembled system scaffolds by load tests. Considering the number of bay and bracing installation, four specimens were tested. The bays were divided into 1 bay and 2 bays, with and without the bracing member installed. Failure modes and horizontal displacements show that the whole column buckled without showing no point of inflection in the column, regardless of whether or not braces were installed. Thus, the current design method of selecting the vertical spacing between the horizontal members of the system scaffold as the effective buckling length underestimates the effective buckling length. In case of 1 bay specimens, the ultimate loads between specimens with and with bracing members are similar. However, in case of 2 bay specimens, the specimen with bracing members shows the increased ultimate load of 36% compared with that without bracing members. In addition, as the number of bays in the system scaffold increases, the ultimate load of the unit vertical column increases in case of the specimen with bracing installation. However, in the specimen without bracing members, the ultimate load of the unit column reduces with the increment of the number of bays due to the torsional buckling. Therefore, it is essential to install bracing members to increase the whole strength of system scaffolds and the ultimate load of the unit column.
