The unit modular construction system is a building technique in which unit modules are manufactured at a factory and then assembled at the construction site. It has many benefits, including reduction of the construction period and improvement in quality. For this reason, it is utilized for various purposes in Japan and England. While it has been introduced in Korea, there have been few Korean studies conducted on the unit modular system. In particular, little research has been done on the method of safely fixating the unit modules to a truck. Therefore, this study reviewed the fixation methods of unit modules for transport, analyzed the problems, and designed a fixation device for unit modules. In addition, a device for the fixation of unit modules to a truck was developed, and a structural simulation was implemented for a safety test by considering the maximum stress generated during the transport of the unit modules fixed on a truck. When the device for the fixation of unit modules is manufactured based on the results of the structural simulation done in this study, it is expected to aid the development of a more practical fixation device for unit modules.
The unit-water content has a major problem in concrete structures which leads to micro cracks on the concrete during drying time. Thus, the compressive strength and durability of the concrete structures are significantly reduced. Several techniques have been developed to measure the unit-water content in concrete structures such as heating drying, unit volume mass, and capacitance measurements. However, these techniques have problems in during measurement such as longer time, expensive and difficult in analysis of data. Frequency Domain Reflectivity (FDR) is one of the sensors which used to measure the water content. This method has several advantages including easy to measure, inexpensive, and capable of measuring moisture in real time. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the unit-water content in concrete using the FDR sensor and interpret the data with deep learning method.
In order to understand interaction between building users' occupant performance and building maintenance performance of maintenance management personnel, actual data from maintenance activities of buildings were analyzed. Also, using building defect customer complaint data reported by building user, satisfaction data on building maintenance services of building users and service response time of maintenance management personnel, a method for evaluating interaction of buildings with the same purpose and same size was proposed. Throughout analysis, average number of occurrences per unit area per year for the mechanical complaints in complex building were presented. In addition, using building users' satisfaction with facility management services, attitude of responding to business obstacles, number of occurrences per unit area per year of mechanical complaints and complaint processing speed, interaction was comprehensively identified and compared.
This paper describes the classification problems of the unit modular housing through reviewing design drawings. Modular construction is a new industrialized homebuilding technology that uses large, factory produced modules. In general, more than 70% of construction processes in unit modular construction method are produced in factory after that the modular, which is completed is lifted on site and assembled. This research considers categorization in which the design drawing of the unit module housing can have problems. There are 17 types of construction method and 14 types of design approach as a result of the classification.
This study focused on the fact that there are a lot of alleys in some areas of the Urban Renewal New Deal project. In this study, we proposed a method to construct a spatial module by combining small modules. It is expected that the combination of small modules developed in this way will help revitalize the New Deal of Urban Regeneration. In the future, additional joint details will be developed, structure review will be conducted.
Exterior walls are designed and constructed through design focused exterior wall system. Nowadays, freeform facade design has been changing according to material, form and function of the exterior wall system. Especially, curtain wall facade system is designed and manufactured using solar shading faces. However, the traditional method have a lot of difficulties in the currently performing technology for curtain wall facade. It is important to make the freeform facade components that integrated as a surface of freeform buildings. Therefore it is necessary to develop unit module construction method for freeform facade.

Air-cooled split-type air conditioners (AC) are very popular in high-rise residential and commercial buildings in Korea. The performance of such AC systems varies significantly with system characteristics and environmental conditions. Particularly, the outdoor condensing unit of the system, if poorly cooled due to high density of AC distribution and restricted outdoor space, will result in large decrease of cooling efficiency and increase of electrical energy consumption and may further jeopardize the system reliability. This paper presents a numerical analysis on the thermal and energy performance of a group of air-cooled air conditioners installed at a courtyard of a high-rise building. The study introduces a series of new energy performance indices to assess the group performance of the AC condensers with different outdoor unit layouts. The results not only indicate the COP of the systems, but also quantify the system capacity and energy consumption. The evaluation method and indices developed are useful for guiding the design of the distribution plan of the AC units at building re-entrants.
More than half of Korea's urban population currently lives in multi-unit dwellings. This particular residence structure inevitably positions the living spaces of residents in close proximity to one another. Because of this proximity, the sounds of a particular household will transfer to other residents' units creating conflict between tenants. Efforts to alleviate this problem have been made in both the public and private sector. A prominent method of noise analysis between living units has been to make an actual sound measurement and obtain qualitative measurements from questionnaires. Although this method has been most widely used, such analysis requires a large amount of human effort and time. In addition, the questionnaire method fails to provide the objective information needed to accurately assess the noise situation. To overcome the inadequacies of this previous method, this study seeks to evaluate the applicability of an acoustic simulation method. Three types of living noises were analyzed to assess the noise levels passed between multi-unit dwellings. The acoustic simulation method was found to be more economical, efficient, and adaptable in information processing. The results of this study can be further applied to design and control living-noise through procedures such as acoustic absorption or space redesign.
