  • In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's sensor signals of vehicle. In order to measure the ECU's sensor signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and the Embedded Linux is used to monitor communication result through Web the Embedded Linux system and this system is said "ECU Interface Part". In ECU Interface Part the interface circuit is designed to match voltage level between ECU and SA-1110 micro controller and interface circuit to communicate ECU according to the ISO, SAE communication protocol standard. Because Embedded Linux does not allow to access hardware directly in application level, anyone who wants to modify any low level hardware must develop device driver. To monitor ECU's sensor signals the most important thing is to match serial level between ECU and ECU Interface Part. It means to communicate correctly between two hardware we need to match voltage and signal level, and need to match baudrate. The voltage of SA-1110 is 0 ${\sim}$ +3.3V and ECU is 0 ${\sim}$ +12V and, ECU's communication Line K does multiple operation so, the interface circuit is used to match voltage and signal level. In Addition to ECU's baudrate is 10400bps, it's not standard baudrate in computer environment. So, we need to develop a device driver to control the interface circuit, and change baudrate. To monitor ECU's sensor signals through web there's a network socket program is working in Embedded Linux. It works as server program and manages user's connections and commands. Anyone who wants to monitor ECU's sensor signals he just only connect to Embedded Linux system with web browser then, Embedded Linux webserver will return the ActiveX webbased measurement software. It works in web browser and inits ECU, as a result it returns sensor signals through web. All the programs are developed with GCC(GNU C Compiler) and, webbased measurement software is developed with Borland C++ Builder.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and apply three types SMART instructional modules about the mineral resources and investigate its effect. One hundred students in the experimental group and 111 students in the control group from 6 classes in the $1^{st}$ year of a girl's high school participated in this study. One unit of tablet PC was provided to every two students in the experimental group and three types of SMART classes were implemented in class. Teacher-centered traditional classes were carried out for the control group. The instrument designed to assess the level of students' interest in mineral resources consisted of 10 items using 5-point Likert scale. To investigate the level of students' understanding, 15 items were developed on the mineral, mineral deposits, and the development of mineral resources. In addition, the participants were asked to describe advantages and disadvantages of the classes using the SMART modules. Results are as follows. First, participants in the experimental group showed a significantly higher level of interest on the mineral and the mineral learning than those in the control group. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the desire to observe minerals and rocks. Second, students in the experimental group showed a higher level of understanding than the control group. The students with higher learning ability showed a significantly higher level of understanding than the lower group students. Third, the participants pointed out that the advantage of the SMART instructional modules was their experience in searching the relevant information and producing diverse outputs about mineral resource. On the contrary, the difficulties in coordinating opinions and decision making due to the excessive quantity of information were perceived as the disadvantage.

  • This paper shows that design, manufacture and the performance of FC-NIC (fibre channel network interface card) for network unit configuration which is based on one of the 5 main configuration items of the common functional module for IMA (integrated modular Avionics) architecture. Especially, FC-NIC uses zynq SoC (system on chip) for host load reductions. The host merely transmit FC destination address, source memory location and size information to the FC-NIC. After then the FC-NIC read the host memory via DMA (direct memory access). FC upper layer protocol and sequence process at local processor and programmable logic of FC-NIC zynq SoC. It enables to free from host load for external communication. The performance of FC-NIC shows average 5.47 us low end-to-end latency at 2.125 Gbps line speed. It represent that FC-NIC is one of good candidate network for IMA.

  • In this study, we used multi-channels ceramic membrane having larger permeate volume per unit time rather than tubular membrane. The hybrid process for advanced drinking water treatment was composed of granular activated carbons (GAC) packing between module inside and outside of multi-channels microfiltration membrane. Instead of natural organic matters (NOM) and fine inorganic particles in natural water source, modified solution was prepared with humic acid and kaolin. Kaolin concentration was fixed at 30mg/L and humic acid was changed as $2{\sim}10\;mg/L$ to inspect effect of organic matters. As a result, both resistance of membrane fouling ($R_f$) and permeate flux (J) were highly influenced by concentration of humic acid. Also, in result of water-back-flushing period (FT) effect, the shorter FT was the more effective to reduce membrane fouling and to enhance permeate flux because of frequent water-back-flushing. However, the optimal FT condition was 8 min when operating costs were considered. Then, the hybrid process using multi-channels ceramic membrane and GAC was applied to lake water treatment. As a result, average treatment efficiencies in our experiment using the hybrid process were 98.02% for turbidity, 75.64% for $UV_{254}$ absorbance, 7.18% for TDS and 84.73% for $COD_{Mn}$.

  • Soils contaminated with hydrocarbons and residual metals can be effectively treated by soil washing. In developing the soil washing process several major effects for separating contaminants from coarse soils progressively improved upon combinations of mining and chemical processing approaches. The pilot-scale soils washing process consists of the four major parts : 1) abrasive scouring, 2) scrubbing action using a washwater that is sometimes augmented by surfactants or other agents, 3) rinsing, and 4) regenerating the contaminated washwater. The plant was designed based upon the treatment capacity > 5 ton/hr on site. The lumpy contaminated soil fractions first experience deagglomeration and desliming passing through a rolling mill pipe. In the second unit the attrition scrubbing module equipped with paddles uses high-energy to remove contaminants from the soils. And a final rinsing system is assembled to separate the washwater containing the contaminants and very fine soils from the washed coarse soils. For recycling the contaminated washwater passes through a washwater clarifier specifically designed for flocculation, sedimentation and gravity separation of fine as well as flotation and separation of oils from the washwater. In order to more rapidly assess the applicability of soil washing at a potential site while minimizing the expense of mobilization and operation, a mobile-type soil washing process which is self-contained upon a trailer will be further developed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle school students' perception and their learning satisfaction in SMART learning based science instruction. Three types of modules on the solar system and lunar phases unit at the middle school level were developed and lessons on each module were taught to 207 student participants. All participants were provided with tabletPC(iPad2) with iOS5 installed, and using astronomy app Solar Walk, mirroring function, QR code, and Google Presentation, the lessons were carried out both in classroom and at home. The instrument for assessing students' perception on the SMART learning-based instruction was developed based on 4 factors including Self-directed, Motivation, Adaptiveness, and Technology Embedded, with a Likert scale from 1-5 on 20 items. The learning satisfaction survey instrument was originally from Keller's work (1987), and its test items were adapted and modified. To reveal the perception and learning satisfaction about SMART learning-based science lessons, the participants were comparatively analyzed by gender and science achievement levels. Results indicated that male students showed positive perception for the SMART learning-based instruction. Group with higher science achievement scores showed more positive perception of the SMART learning-based instruction in terms of Self-directed and Motivation factor. Also, the learning satisfaction of male students was higher than female students and group with higher academic ability more satisfied with the SMART learning-based instruction than the low group. The results provide implications for future development of programs and help set a direction of increasing the use of a SMART learning-based science in school.
