The current status of Canadian research on rotor-based actively controlled technologies for helicopters is reviewed in this paper. First, worldwide research in this field is overviewed to put Canadian research into context. Then, the unique hybrid control concept of Carleton University is described, along with its key element, the "stiffness control" concept. Next, the smart hybrid active rotor control system (SHARCS) projected's history and organization is presented, which aims to demonstrate the hybrid control concept in a wind tunnel test campaign. To support the activities of SHARCS, unique computational tools, novel experimental facilities and new know-how had to be developed in Canada, among them the state-of-the-art Carleton Whirl Tower facility or the ability to design and manufacture aeroelastically scaled helicopter rotors for wind tunnel testing. In the second half of the paper, details are provided on the current status of development on the three subsystems of SHARCS, i.e. that of the actively controlled tip, the actively controlled flap and the unique stiffness-control device, the active pitch link.

Let R be a Krull ring with the unique regular maximal ideal M. We show that R has a regular prime element and reg-$dimR=1{\Leftrightarrow}R$ is a factorial ring and reg-$dim(R)=1{\Rightarrow}M$ is invertible ${\Leftrightarrow}R{\varsubsetneq}[R:M]{\Leftrightarrow}M$ is divisorial ${\Leftrightarrow}$ reg-$htM=1{\Rightarrow}R$ is a rank one discrete valuation ring. We also show that if M is generated by regular elements, then R is a rank one discrete valuation ring ${\Rightarrow}$ R is a factorial ring and reg-dim(R)=1.

It is well known that the finite element analysis often has an inaccuracy when it is in conflict with test results. Model updating is concerned with the correction of analytical model by processing records of response from test results. The famous one of the model updating methods is FRF sensitivity method. However, it has demerit that the solution is not unique. So, the neural network is recommended when an unique and exact solution is desired. The generalization ability of radial basis function neural network is used in model updating. As an application model, a cantilever and a rotor system are used. Specially the machined clearance($C_p$) of a journal bearing is updated.

Today's restaurant is the space not just for eating, but enjoying the mood, communication space for social life, and leading trend. Therefore interior design is concerned with one of the most important role for creating unique atmosphere of restaurants. This study is aimed to analyze how to interior design elements affect the improvement of New York hip restaurant reputation, focusing on the importance of the establishment of unique trend. Through the case studies of New York hip restaurants, it is suggested that interior design is composed to not only significant different element, but also common design concept. It is mainly divided by 5 categories which is the Fusion mixed with eastern culture throughout the vision of the western, the New Baroque redefined tradition and modern thought, the Modern Classic created by importance of concise style and beauty of material, the High Concept used with new materials and technologies, and the Naturalism focused on spirit from nature and eco. Recently New York hip restaurant through the corporation work with star chef and star designer is developed to provide the enjoyable and anticipated spaces with strong theme and entertainments.

본 논문에서는 PKI에서 가장 기본이 되고 중요한 요소인 X.509 인증서의 구조를 기술하였다. X.509 인증서는 기본 필드들과 버전 2 인증서에서 추가된 unique identifiers field, 그리고 버전 3 인증서에서 추가된 확장필드들로 구성되어 있다. 버전 3의 확장필드들은 기본 필드들로 부족한 부분을 채우기 위한 필드로써, 현재 인터넷에서 사용되는 인증서용으로 정의된 확장필드값들과 그 의미에 대해 기술하였다.

본 연구는 일본 학생들이 필수로 이수하는 과목 중 한국문화에 관한 내용이 가장 많이 언급되는 초등학교 6학년 '사회'와 중학교 '지리'교과서를 대상으로 1980년대부터 현재까지 30여 년간의 한국문화에 관한 서술변화를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 교과서별 한국문화 콘텐츠를 기본적 요소, 독창적 요소, 시대반영적 요소로 분류하고 각각의 요소를 전통과 현대, 표층과 심층으로 재분류하여 각 유형별 등장양상을 살펴보았다. 일본 교과서에는 한복, 김치, 온돌, 고층아파트, 식사예절과 같은 의 식 주를 비롯하여, 수도 서울의 모습과 같은 표층적 기본적 문화요소가 가장 많이 나타나고 있다. 또한, 시기와 상관없이 항상 등장하고 있는 내용은 한국의 의 식 주 문화와 같은 기본적 문화요소가 대부분이다. 시대반영적 요소인 서울올림픽, 한일월드컵, 한류 등도 해당 시기 교과서에 충실히 서술되고 있다. 한국문화 콘텐츠는 2010년대로 올수록 내용과 범위가 확대되는 현상도 나타나고 있다. 또한 이들 콘텐츠의 표현방법도 최근 교과서로 올수록 보다 구체적인 설명 및 시각자료들이 제시되고 있다.

Memory and schema are very similar in terms of human accumulated mental and physical experiences. However, while memory has more personal aspect, schema discussed in this paper has more collective aspect. Schema has been developed through different generations and times, and has become a specific psychological or visual element(s) that can be applied to various fields, such as all, design and architecture. This study focuses on Aldo Rossi's architectural design characteristics based on his 'Autobiographical Concept' as well as personal schema. 'Autobiographical Concept' is the crucial structure supporting Aldo Rossi's distinctive formalization and spatialization. 4 case projects were comparatively analyzed by the 5 elements included in 'Autobiographical Concept'. It was not easy to relate each element to a specific design aspect because the 5 elements are somehow theoretically and conceptually inter-connected each other. Even though it is very difficult to directly relate a conceptual element with a real spatial element, it is found that the 5 elements have some differences in the spatialization process. Thus, in the conclusion, this study attempted to show the unique characteristics of the Aldo Rossi's architectural design process based on his 'Autobiographical Concept'.

The U.S. Space Shuttle represents the beginning of a new era in transportation and is the critical element in the industrialization of the near-Earth-space. Most of its flights are dedicated to reducing costs launching commercial satellites. However, it provides a microgravity environment for processing unique and improved materials which is generating great interest in both civilian and military sectors. The space shuttle is also the necessary step in establishing a permanent space station which could host materials analysis laboratories and commercial processing facilities. This paper reviews the different elements of the space shuttle transportation system, a typical mission scenario, and discusses current activities in materials processing in space.

We design a multi-element photo-detector to measure the size of particles using the diffracted light energy distribution. The scattered profile measured by the photodetector is sampled by a 32 channel analog-to-digital converter. A nonnegative least squares analysis translates the light energy distribution into the corresponding unique particle size distribution. The responses of the particle sizing system are studied theoretically and experimentally.
