Malaysian modern housing typologies (such as bungalows, semi-detached houses and terrace houses) are influenced by international style and constitute unique regional characteristics because they are modified in accordance with climatic conditions and unique social, ethnic housing cultures. This research identified unique characteristics and planning principles of how rooms and spaces of a house are related and organized into coherent patterns of form and space. For the analysis, we surveyed twenty-two residential precincts that identified twenty-five unit plan types for landed properties built in Ara Damansara, Malaysia. The methodology adopted in this study consisted of a document review and field surveys. It is difficult to find unique characteristics of space organization (except for the location of bathrooms) because the form of terrace houses is standardized and limited in design from the aspect of space organization. However, the organization of bedroom space and kitchen space has strong regional characteristics that have become stereotyped for semi-Ds and bungalows. General guideline for areas of unit plans are proposed based on the results of area analysis. We also found that the areas of L + D and MB increase as the total area of the house increases; however, the remaining rooms do not increase in area as long as they satisfy appropriate standards due to the addition of multi-purpose extra rooms. This study only examined limited cases in Ara Damansara and it is difficult to generalize the findings of other new towns in Malaysia. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to collect and systematically organize data according to typologies. Finally, the authors were able to understand the unique regional design factors to be considered for landed property housing planning in Malaysia.

This paper aimed to suggest a new model of fusion furniture design which fits with our surroundings of today. This was performed by grasp and evaluation of recent trend of fusion culture in Korea in order to apply it to the furniture design of fusion style. Fusion furniture design was tried and applied to the table showing unique characteristics of Korea traditional small dining table with modern touch. The result of this paper could also contribute to distribute the unique characteristics and beauty of Korean traditional furniture in the World.

개인 기록은 "기록"으로서의 일반적 특성과 "개인"이라는 맥락이 부여한 고유한 특성을 공유하고 있다. 이 글은 그 중에서도 고유한 특성에 관한 주목이 필요하며 개인 기록 관리에 관한 다양한 방법들을 결정하기 위해서는 개인 기록이 갖는 고유한 특성을 구체적으로 고찰해야 한다는 문제 의식에서 시작되었다. 이에 이 글은 개인 기록이 갖는 특성을 밝히기 위하여 두 가지 방법의 접근을 시도하였다. 먼저, 기록관리의 가장 기본적인 원칙을 담고 있는 표준인 ISO 15489: 2016와 개인 기록과 관련된 문헌 연구들을 중심으로 개인 기록의 생산 맥락, 기록관리 과정에서 살펴볼 수 있는 개인 기록의 고유한 특성을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 사람의 독특한 성질인 "성격(personality)"과 관련된 이론을 검토하고 개인 기록 관리에서의 적용 필요성을 검토했다. 아울러 국내의 기록 관리기관이 소장하고 있는 실제 개인에 관한 기록 군에서 성격을 중심으로 개인적 특성을 살펴보고 이것이 기록 관리에 어떤 영향을 주고 있는지를 확인해 보았다. 개인 기록이 갖는 고유한 특성이야말로 기록화 활동에 있어 수집대상에 대한 이해와 전략의 기반이 되어야 한다고 생각된다. 이를 위해서는 개인 기록이 가진 특성을 다양한 차원에서 발견하기 위한 노력이 우선적으로 필요하며 이를 개인 기록을 기록화하기 위한 전략의 핵심으로서 확보해 나가야 할 것이다.

The role of fabric now directly related with the expression of the beauty of clothing and it provides new and creative ideas. This study was aimed at reviewing basic data that can be used in systematic design development through fabric expression for today's fashion designers who must study unique, original fashion design development. For systematic development of design technique through fabric expression, fabric expression methods and characteristics, aesthetic characteristics and fabric design of 'art to wear' were reviewed and the results are as follows. First, the highly wrought fabric expression of art to wear was confirmed to be comprehending a message within itself. Second, aesthetic characteristics of fabric expression used in art to wear can be classified as decorativeness, extensity, 2-D pictorialness, handicraft, compounding and rearrangement, and 3-D characteristics. Third, the 6 aesthetic characteristics have unique design features and aesthetic categories. The understanding the fabric expression techniques through study on the classification of the fabric expression in 'art to wear' is expected to be extended to proposition of creative direction and inspiration of modern fashion.

The fine-tuned dendrons provide unique supramolecular self-assemblies in various environments such as in water, organic media, and solid-liquid interfaces. They form nanotubes, vesicles, thin films, columns, lamellar nanoribbons depending on the condition of self-assembly process. Unique characteristics of self-assembly of the amide dendrons are described. In addition, elucidation of the structural correlation between the building blocks and the assemblies, stabilization of assembled structure, and transformation of supramolecular assemblies by using external stimuli. Particular emphasis is placed on the formation of cyclodextrin-covered organic nanotubes derived from self-assembly of amide dendrons and their supramolecular transformation. Finally, unique biosensory characteristics of the self-assembled nanotubes will be discussed.

The Jing is a traditional Korean percussion instrument which plays a major role in Korean folk music. The distingishing feature of this instrument is its unique, long lasting low tone timbre. In this paper, we investigated the vibro-acoustic characteristics of the Jing. Our attention was focused mainly on findings out the physical variables that determine its unique sound. By understanding the way in which the Jing is manufactured, we were able to realize that the unique manufacturing and especially the tuning process by expert craftsman is responsible for the peculiar timbre the Jing produces. The experimental methods implemented to analyzer the Jing were planar acoustic holography and direct measurements by accelerometers. The results from the holographic method and the direct measurements were in good agreement. It turned out that unlike most percussion instruments which have inharmonic partials, the Jing has harmonic partials which are responsible for its unique low-tone timbre. From the holographic representations of the modes, it is clear that the antinodes are located in the center of the Jing which is coincident with the typical striking location. In addition, intensity maps were constructed so that the specific acoustic energy flow can be visualized. It was also interesting to see the the circulation of energy intensity which corresponds to the rotating mode of the Jing.

Danish Modern has been recognized as simple and comfortable design movement that was matched with its unique regional environment. There are various internationally well known designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton. Danish Modern movement and International style had vital role to activate these designers' ideas and design quality. This paper aims to study the background and design characteristics of Danish Modern movement as well as some of the spatial projects by Arne Jacobsen. Furniture design of Jacobsen were already throughly studied in various researches. However his spatial projects such as architectural buildings and interior designs were not. This study analyzes three major architectural projects based on the four characteristics of Danish Modern: Formal Simplicity, Simple Functionality, Regional Contextuality, Reasonable Amusement. After the case study, this study discovered that Danish Modern characteristics had unique roles in the design process of Jacobsen's projects. Danish Modern is still valid design philosophy that can be applied to contemporary society.

The purposes of this study were (1) to segment female college students' apparel shoppers into unique apparel buying decision-making style groups; and (2) to profile for each segment in terms of personal characteristics (material values, change seeking tendency and prestige sensitivity) and fashion information sources. Data were collected through questionnaires from convenient sample of 290 female college students. As a result of cluster analysis and univariate analysis of variance, distinctive consumer decision-making style groups of consumers were identified; Value-maximizing Recreational Shoppers, Brand-Maximizing Emotional Shoppers, and Apathetic Shoppers. These three groups were compared as to the effect of personal characteristics variables and fashion information sources through univariate analysis of variance and chi-square statistics. The result showed that personal characteristics (material values, change seeking tendency and prestige sensitivity) and fashion-information sources do influence the consumer decision-making styles and that these three groups were unique in their decision-making characteristics showing that consumer decision-making styles can be a good segmentation base for apparel market.

This study examines unique manifestations of intergenerational conflict related to the acculturation process of immigrant families. No scale that measured the acculturation aspect of intergenerational conflict exsited. Thus, a new scale was developed to investigate this unique aspect among Korean American adolescents. The study design was cross-sectional, and employed a convenience sampling method. The participants were Korean American adolescents of junior and senior high school age, 14 to18 years old. The study was conducted at eleven Korean churches and one hakwon (private out-of-school studies .institute) in Fairfax County, Virginia. Korean American adolescents expressed that the issues related to education, such as academic pressures and high expectations, caused intergenerational conflict most frequently. Unlike findings from previous studies, the participants indicated that language differences between parents and children rarely caused intergenerational conflict. Contrary to previous findings, none of the characteristics variables, such as age, gender, length of residency and language preference, were significantly correlated with this unique conflict. This study provides a rare opportunity to enhance our understanding on how Korean American adolescents interact with their immigrant parents.

Spin reticle infrared seekers have good linearity, and the pulse-modulated reticle seekers have good digital characteristics for anti-jamming processing. A basic design for a spin pulse-modulated reticle is introduced. This design uses the rotating design of the optical system in the spin infrared seekers and an improved design of the reticle in the pulse-modulated seekers. The reticle contains a unique well-designed slit to produce one pulse for each target in the spinning period. The target data will be carried by the unique pulse parameters. A simulation tool is implemented using the MATLAB packages for analyzing and evaluating the new design.
