The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of animation cluster in Chuncheon. It has been over 10 years since Chuncheon was designated as the cluster raising the animation industry. The Chuncheon cluster is trying to differentiate through managing several unique strategies. In order to realize the micro-regionalism, it focuses on co-production not with domestic companies but with foreign companies. Especially, for establishing the whole concrete production pipe-line, it concerns to make co-production contracts dealing with not only for the main production part but also pre- and post-production parts. Based on these production experience, it is building the production complex in the name of ICT convergence cluster. The changed role of the policy-management organization(Gangwon Information & Multimedia Corporation, GIMC) enables these differentiated strategies by itself. The establishment of the Asian Animation Round(AAR) is recognized as the characteristic of macro-regionalism. Starting from the year of 2006, the AAR tries to place Chuncheon as the hub of animation production in Asia and focuses on constructing the network of animation production countries that have developed their production capabilities through sub-contracts. This type of production and market bloc has not been made before.
This study was aimed at determining the characteristics of circular multi-family housing under the assumption that the shape of a residential building affects local identity. A total of six case studies were included in this study, three case studies on idle historical industrial facilities turned into residential buildings and another three on multi-family housing located in newly developed residential complexes. The study drew its conclusions as follows. First, the design of circular multi-family housing was intended to maximize security and defense from the outside in older times. This was later developed as the terrace house style with geometric urban squares designed under the urban planning of the Baroque period. This evolved high-density housing with a courtyard in the center offering a green open space, with the aim of restoring a sense of humanity. Second, the six case studies on circular multi-family housing were analyzed from the viewpoint of each factor of local identity, including historical and cultural, landscape, and community. Third, the historical and cultural elements of circular multi-family housing are found in some unused historical industrial facilities remodeled into residential buildings. They provide new capabilities and shapes desired by society at a given time, while maintaining familiar styles and elements of history, integrating a legacy of the past into the present. Fourth, circular multi-family housing with unique shapes and structures often become landmarks of a region with their distinctive appearance against a uniform urban environment and the monotonous scenery of residential complexes. They also show a high level of visual awareness with the distinctive shapes made possible when new elements are added to a historical exterior. Finally, circular multi-family housing with courtyards in the center prompt social contact between inhabitants, especially with dormitories and rental houses for the low-income bracket, which provide a small individual units with high use common space. Circular multi-family housing are planned in a manner similar to a small village or a city. They are designed to enhance sense of community, allocating various public amenities and provide cultural and commercial spaces on the ground floor and courtyard areas.

Data mining algorithms should exploit new hardware technologies to accelerate computations. Such goal is difficult to achieve in database management system (DBMS) due to its complex internal subsystems and because data mining numeric computations of large data sets are difficult to optimize. This paper explores taking advantage of existing multithreaded capabilities of multicore CPUs as well as caching in RAM memory to efficiently compute summaries of a large data set, a fundamental data mining problem. We introduce parallel algorithms working on multiple threads, which overcome the row aggregation processing bottleneck of accessing secondary storage, while maintaining linear time complexity with respect to data set size. Our proposal is based on a combination of table scans and parallel multithreaded processing among multiple cores in the CPU. We introduce several database-style and hardware-level optimizations: caching row blocks of the input table, managing available RAM memory, interleaving I/O and CPU processing, as well as tuning the number of working threads. We experimentally benchmark our algorithms with large data sets on a DBMS running on a computer with a multicore CPU. We show that our algorithms outperform existing DBMS mechanisms in computing aggregations of multidimensional data summaries, especially as dimensionality grows. Furthermore, we show that local memory allocation (RAM block size) does not have a significant impact when the thread management algorithm distributes the workload among a fixed number of threads. Our proposal is unique in the sense that we do not modify or require access to the DBMS source code, but instead, we extend the DBMS with analytic functionality by developing User-Defined Functions.

Mobile games have emerged as the most innovative entertainment technology, adding new revenue streams, taking advantage of the potential of wireless applications and service offerings. Mobile games, like any other types of computer game, offer a unique value for users in providing an exciting digital experience in virtual worlds. Players can become empowered through the development of new characters and strategies within games to achieve rewarding successes against the computers and other players. The overall trend for mobile games is towards bigger, more colorful, more involving and exciting contents, which will build upon the developing capabilities of mobile phones and networks in order to bring new styles, concepts and experiences of game play to the users. In this paper, we attempt to investigate the demographic factors which play critical roles in determining the level of playing times; classify mobile gamers based on their motives for playing games; and empirically test differences in their demographic factors and mobile game usage. Statistical results show that significant differences in playing times exist, depending upon their age, gender, mobile device, mobile phone usage, mobile game experiences, and preferred games genres. Applying Factor analysis, we have identified Escape, Social interaction, Challenge and Competition, Fantasy, Diversion and Relaxation, Ease of Accessibility as key motivators for playing mobile games. Additional cluster analysis shows that the categorization of gamers, according to their usage habits and the key motivators for playing, can be made as follows: M-gamers, Multi-gamers and Communication-focused gamers. Further correlation of these grouping with socio-economic data shows the significant differences in gaming habits and patterns of mobile phone use.
Science and technology diplomacy has become an important policy agenda because of its diplomatic utility and enhancing of international science networks. However, different countries possess different objectives and governance of S&T diplomacy. In this context, this paper seeks to answer the following questions: what are the similarities and differences of S&T diplomacy in countries and what shapes these characteristics? To answer these questions, this paper conducts a comparative case study with five countries - Switzerland, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States - whose S&T diplomatic programs are highly recognized and benchmarked by other countries. A useful typology is devised to conduct a systematic comparison. For S&T diplomatic objectives, this paper suggests five types by elaborating concepts from the previous literature: access diplomacy, promotion diplomacy, public aid diplomacy, functional diplomacy, and global leadership diplomacy. Also, in terms of a governance model for S&T diplomacy, three models - a sciencecentered model, a science-outsourcing model and a top-down coordinating model - are suggested based on leadership organization. This paper reveals the different characteristics of the selected countries in S&T diplomacy. While the selected countries pursue almost every type of S&T diplomatic objective, the US and the UK tend to conduct influence-based diplomacy more than other countries do. In addition, different countries each have unique governance models for S&T diplomacy. While more research is necessary for vigorously testing the causes of different objectives and their relationship with governance models, this paper suggests more general policy implications throughout. The strength of the country's S&T base is fundamentally important for the success of S&T diplomacy. However, domestic S&T assets need to be transferred to its diplomatic capabilities. In this sense, the appropriate governance that fits best with the country's S&T mission should be established, while S&T communities should increasingly play a leadership role in evolving global S&T networks.

In the pressurized propellant feed system of liquid rocket, feed pressure is decided chamber pressure of normal combustion state. However, during ignition period the initial chamber pressure is atmosphere. So, it may have overflow, hard-start and even critical damage of engine. This paper proposes an improved propellant feed system for the stable combustion of liquid rocket. Hot test were already performed to verify the presented propellent feed system. The proposed propellant feed system uses two steps - pre and main combustion - to prevent large pressure increase and uses cavitating venturis for stable flow rate in whole combustion. This system feeds the flow rate lesser than the designed flow rate, so combustion pressure reached pre-combustion pressure. Cavitating venturis offer unique flow control capabilities at normal and abnormal combustion state, because flow rate is solely dependent on upstream absolute pressure and fluid properties, but independent on downstream condition.
In Korea, all investigations of maritime crime such as murder, robbery, drug trafficking, and illegal fishing that have been committed at sea are under the jurisdiction of maritime police. As maritime crimes tend to have more unique cases, cause damage on a larger scale, and be limited to evidence that is possibly contaminated, compared to non-maritime crimes, the cases demand maritime police investigators with a higher level of expertise. However, there is currently a lack of competent investigators in the maritime police, leading to the training of maritime police investigators in training agencies. so many of maritime investigators goes to land police training agency including Korean Police Investigation Academy. Therefore, in order to improve the capabilities of maritime crime investigation we must first gather information and data in relation to maritime crimes to foster more investigation specialists, and establish specialized training agencies offering a training course more focused on maritime crimes.

The combined use of smart materials, complementing each others' characteristics and resulting in devices with optimised features, is providing new solutions in many industries. The use of ingenious combinations of smart materials has led to improvements in actuation speed and force, signal-to-noise ratio, sensor precision and unique capabilities such as self-sensing self-healing systems and energy autonomy. This may all give rise to a revival for numerous families of smart materials, for which application proposals had already reached a stationary situation. It may also provide the boost needed for the definitive industrial success of many others. This study focuses on reviewing the proposals, preliminary studies and success cases related to combining smart materials to obtain multifunctional, improved systems. It also examines the most outstanding applications and fields for the combined use of these smart materials. We will also discuss related study areas which warrant further research for the development of novel approaches for demanding applications.

Background Stem cells are a unique cell population characterized by self-renewal and cellular differentiation capabilities. These characteristics, among other traits, make them an attractive option for regenerative treatments of tissues defects and for aesthetic procedures in plastic surgery. As research regarding the isolation, culture and behavior of stem cells has progressed, stem cells, particularly adult stem cells, have shown promising results in both translational and clinical applications. Methods The purpose of this review is to evaluate the applications of stem cells in the plastic surgery literature, with particular focus on the advances and limitations of current stem cell therapies. Different key areas amenable to stem cell therapy are addressed in the literature review; these include regeneration of soft tissue, bone, cartilage, and peripheral nerves, as well as wound healing and skin aging. Results The reviewed studies demonstrate promising results, with favorable outcomes and minimal complications in the cited cases. In particular, adipose tissue derived stem cell (ADSC) transplants appear to provide effective treatment options for bony and soft tissue defects, and non-healing wounds. ADSCs have also been shown to be useful in aesthetic surgery. Conclusions Further studies involving both the basic and clinical science aspects of stem cell therapies are warranted. In particular, the mechanism of action of stem cells, their interactions with the surrounding microenvironment and their long-term fate require further elucidation. Larger randomized trials are also necessary to demonstrate the continued safety of transplanted stem cells as well as the efficacy of cellular therapies in comparison to the current standards of care.

Researchers continue to explore possibilities for expanding additive manufacturing (AM) technologies into direct product manufacturing. One limitation is in the materials available for use in AM that can meet the needs of end-use applications. Stereolithography (SL) is an AM technology well known for its precision and high quality surface finish capabilities. SL builds parts by selectively crosslinking or solidifying photo-curable liquid resins, and the resin industry has been continuously developing new resins with improved performance characteristics. This paper introduces a unique SL machine that can fabricate parts out of multiple SL materials. The technology is based on using multiple vats positioned on a rotating vat carousel that contain different photo-curable materials. To change the material during the process, the build platform is raised out of the current vat, a new vat with a different material is rotated under the platform, and the platform is submerged into the new vat so that the new material can be used. This paper introduces a new vat exchange mechanism, cleaning process, recoating process, resin leveling mechanism and process planning technologies for the implementation of multiple material SL. An overview of the system framework is provided and the system integration and control software is described. In addition, several multiple material test parts are designed, fabricated, and described.
