In the design of advanced light water reactors (ALWRs) and in the safety assessment of currently operating nuclear power plants, it is necessary to evaluate the possibility of experiencing a degraded core accident and to develop innovative safety technologies in order to assure long-term debris cooling. The objective of this experimental study is to investigate the enhancement factors of dryout heat flux in debris beds by coolant injection from below. The experimental facility consists mainly of an induction heater, a double-wall quartz-tube test section containing a steel-particle bed and coolant injection and recovery condensing loop. A fairly uniform heating of the particle bed was achieved in the radial direction and the axial variation was within 20%. This paper reports the experimental data for 3.2 mm and 4.8 mm particle beds with a 300 mm bed height. The dryout heat density data were obtained for both the top-flooding and the forced coolant injection from below with an injection mass flux of up to $1.5\;kg/m^2s$. The dryout heat density increased as the rate of coolant injection increased. At a coolant injection mass flux of $1.0\;kg/m^2s$, the dryout heat density was ${\sim}6.5\;MW/m^3$ for the 4.8 mm particle bed and ${\sim}5.6\;MW/m^3$ for the 3.2 mm particle bed. The enhancement factors of the dryout heat density were 1.6-1.8.

For the purpose of improving crashworthiness qualities and maximizing weight saving efficiency, TWB's(tailor welded blanks) of quench-hardenable boron steel sheet formed by hot stamping processes has been used for automotive BIW (body in white) applications. In this work, the flow behaviors of TWB of quench-hardenable boron steel sheet were investigated in uniaxial tension tests at elevated temperature. TWB's having a uniform thickness of 1.4mm were fabricated by laser welding. Specimens with two weld line directions were used to test the mechanical property and reliability of the weld zone. After heating at $950^{\circ}C$ for 5min, the specimens were subjected to tension test at 650, 700 and $800^{\circ}C$ with a strain rate of 0.01 /s and at $700^{\circ}C$ with strain rates of 0.01, 0.1 and 1/s. The ultimate strength of the weld zones was higher than that of the base materials at 650 and $700^{\circ}C$, but was similar to the base metal at $800^{\circ}C$. Fracture occurred at the base material at 650 and $700^{\circ}C$, but at the weld zone at $800^{\circ}C$.

Controlling of thermal environment and flow in nanoimprint process chamber is important to ensure high precision levels of products. The purpose of this paper is to build optimal nanoimprint process environment. Because of this, Optimum PI control parameter for precise temperature control has been examined. Also porous medium of ventilation system is simulated for uniform flow in the equipment chamber. The porous medium consists of mesh structure, and is installed to place which flow the influx of the air flows. PID control parameter is based on the data obtained by experiment. And then heating and cooling method which simultaneously operated was used for decreasing an error. In conclude temperature in the equipment chamber was able to control precisely in the range of ${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$ by the PID control parameter and Deadband.
Problem of the diffuse radiation (DFR) transfer is solved exactly for pure hydrogen nebulae of uniform density, and accuracies of the on-the-spot (OTS) approximation are critically examined. For different values of density and spectral types of the central star, we have calculated the degree of ionization and the kinetic temperature of electrons as functions of distance from the central star, and compared them with the corresponding results of the OTS approximation. At most locations inside an HII region. the DFR ionizes considerable amount of hydrogen; therefore, the OTS approximation under-estimates the size of ionized regions. The exact treatment of the DFR transfer results in an about 10 to 20 percent increase in the classical $Str{\ddot{o}}mgren$ radius. The OTS approximation overestimates the local heating rate by raising the density of neutral hydogens. Consequently, it predicts higher values for the local electron temperature. The OTS approximation also exaggerates the dependence of electron temperature on density. When the hydrogen density is changed from $10/cm^3$ to $10^3/cm^3$ with an 06.5V star, the OTS approximation shows an about 3,000 K difference in the electron temperature, while the exact treatment of the DFR-transfer reduces the difference to about 1,000 K. The OTS approximation fails to demonstrate the brightening of the electron temperature close to the ionization boundary.
Alumina supports for TiO2 ultrafiltration membrane coating were prepared by presintering disk-type preforms at 140$0^{\circ}C$. These supports showed uniform microstructures which had the apparent porosity of 40%, the pore size distribution in the range of 0.1~0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and the water flux of 1400ι/$m^2$.h at the pressure difference of 10 atm. The optimum pH and concentration of the TiO2 sol for coating were 0.8 and 1.0 wt%, respectively, and sol particles were identified as rutile forms of 20 nm size. Crack-free alumina-supported rutile TiO2 membranes could be prepared through well controlled drying and heating the gel layer coated by the sol-gel dipping. The pore size of the TiO2 membranes heat-treated at 50$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs was 30~80$\AA$, and their thickness varied from 1.1 to 3.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in accordence with the dipping time (4~40 min). The flux of water through this composite membrane at 10 atm was found to be in the range from 800 to 1100ι/$m^2$.hr depending on the dipping time (10~40 min). The membrane thickness increased linearly with the square root of the dipping time and the slope was 0.62 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/{{{{ SQRT { min} }}.
This study is to disclose the gilding technique and distinctive features of using surface improvement technique in ancient gilt. There are many kinds of the ancient gilding technique so this thesis mainly focused on mercury amalgam gilding. Gilding technique can be largely divided into two branches – the cladding and amalgam method - in ancient periods. The researches have been carried out on two parts; the first is to find the making progress of amalgam on all sort of the gilding materials and the second is to show features of the gilded layer among basic metals. As a result of this experiment, to achieve good quality of amalgam, suitable particle size of the gilding material should be needed and the heating, a primary factor, has an effect on amalgam to be formed. Aspecial features of amalgam gilding, according to changing the basicmetal, would be influenced by chemical attraction for the mercury, condition of the surface and some other factors. A platers abilities and the making progress of amalgam would be influenced by a uniform and good gilding layer. In conclusion, it should be profoundly studied and investigated on the ancient gilding techniques and gold-gilt relics.
We fabricated flanged outer races for wheel bearing units using 0.52%C clean steels, and then characterized and studied the transformation behavior. The outer races produced by hot forging and high frequency induction hardening in this study were analyzed through microstructural characterization using OM, SEM, TEM, and X-ray diffractometer and their microhardness depth profiles of the raceway contacted by balls were measured using MVH tester. The surface hardened layers with a uniform hardness profile in the raceway consisting of very fine martensite with sub-micron sized retained austenite could be formed for very short time during high frequency induction hardening after hot forging. The very fine martensite may be transformed on rapid cooling, from the inhomogeneous austenite nucleated on rapid heating in small particles of pearlitic cementite fragmentated by hot forging. On the other hand the sub-micron sized retained austenite may be chemically stabilized due to their extremely small size, from the small austenite nucleated at the grain boundaries.
A fiat-plate or vacuum tube solar collector have been mainly used for hot water supply of house because of some being difficult to get uniform energy density, so little applied into industrial field. This study is to apply the PTC(parabolic trough collector) solar collector into industrial field such as sludge dewatering system for energy reduction. The real scale system which composed of PTC Solar Collector and Thermal Dewatering (TDW) is established. PTC solar collector is designed to produce a hot water with $80^{\circ}C$ of temperature. And size of TDW is $630{\times}630mm$. Hot water produced from PTC solar collector is supplied into heating plate of TDW, and sludge like waterworks or wastewater is dewatered. PTC solar collector with $10m^2$ of area produce energy of average 5,618 kcal. As according to results from real scale performance, solar collector takes charge 94 % of the amount that TDW consume energy which is so large part if compare with boiler. It means that PTC solar collector is useful to apply industrial field under the condition of sufficient solar radiation. And it is analyzed that TDW by PTC solar collector has an economical validity.
Small-scale shear flows are ubiquitous in the universe, and astrophysical plasmas are often magnetized. We study the thermal condensation instability in magnetized plasmas with shear flows in relation to filamentary structure formation in cool structures in the universe, representatively solar prominences and supernova remnants. A linear stability analysis is extensively performed in the framework of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) with radiative cooling, plasma heating and anisotropic thermal conduction to find the eigenfrequencies and eigenfunctions for the unstable modes. For a shear velocity less than the Alfven velocity of the background plasma, the eigenvalue with the maximum growth rate is found to correspond to a thermal condensation mode, for which the density and temperature variations are anti-phased (of opposite signs). Only when the shear velocity in the k-direction is near zero, the eigenfunctions for the condensation mode are of smooth sinusoidal forms. Otherwise each eigenfunction for density and temperature is singular and of a discrete form like delta functions. Our results indicate that any non-uniform velocity field with a magnitude larger than a millionth of the Alfven velocity can generate discrete eigenfunctions of the condensation mode. We therefore suggest that condensation at discrete layers or threads should be quite a natural and universal process whenever a thermal instability arises in magnetized plasmas.
We present observational evidence of the surface homogeneity on Phaethon based on the time-series multi-band photometry and spectrometry. The observations of Phaethon were conducted in Nov.-Dec. 2017. We confirmed that Phaethon is a B-type asteroid, as was previously known, and its rotational color variation was not detected. During our observation period, the sub-solar latitude of this asteroid was approximately $55^{\circ}S$, corresponding to the southern hemisphere of the body. Thus, we found that the southern hemisphere of Phaethon has a homogeneous surface from our observation results. In addition, we compared our spectra with archival data to investigate the latitudinal surface properties of the asteroid. The result showed that it doesn't have a latitudinal color variation. To verify this assumption, we investigated its solar-radiation heating effect, and the result suggested that this asteroid underwent a uniform thermal metamorphism regardless of latitude, which is consistent with our observations. Based on this result, we discuss the homogeneity of the surface of the body.
