In order to apply Kriging methods for geostatistics of spatial data, an estimation of spatial coherency functions is required priorly based on the spatial distance between measurement points. In the study, the typical coherency functions, such as semi-variogram, homeogram, and covariance function, were estimated using the national geoid model. The test area consisting of 2°×2° and the Unified Control Points (UCPs) within the area were chosen as sampling measurements of the geoid. Based on the distance between the control points, a total of 100 sampling points were grouped into distinct pairs and assigned into a bin. Empirical values, which were calculated with each of the spatial coherency functions, resulted out as a wave model of a semi-variogram for the best quality of fit. Both of homeogram and covariance functions were better fitted into the exponential model. In the future, the methods of various Kriging and the functions of estimated spatial coherency need to be studied to verify the prediction accuracy and to calculate the Mean Squared Prediction Error (MSPE).

Steel in a continuous reheat furnace is heated to higher temperature to be treated in the rolling steel process. Due to this reason the continuous reheat furnace system requires an optimal control system to adjust the temperature inside the furnace. Level 2 control systems for continuous reheat furnaces generate automatic heating set points for the level 1 system of the furnace based on the mathematical thermal model which can give a good estimation of steel heating inside the furnace and is used to adjust heating requirements to optimize furnace combustion. For the current study the analytic methodology based on the design procedure from the systems engineering to develop new level 2 control system of a continuous reheat furnace was proposed. The system analysis and the requirements of the level 2 control system were derived using the unified modeling language (UML) 2.0, and the design of database and the graphic user interface (GUI) for the level 2 control system were conducted.
The previous control point surveying, being standardized by trigonometric point which hasn't been unified in the whole country and producing put into operation through complex calculation process, has many problems about accurate results and economic side. Because most of trigonometric points that standardize a present surveying are in situation in top of the mountain, there are many difficulties in solving sight problems. Since trigonometric points are far away from one another, Differences are created because of limitation of point distance, observatory network construction and distribution of error. In the information age, the study about acquiring three dimension surveying information that uses GPS has been processed as fast as acquiring topography information is getting important gradually. For utilizing GPS in surveying work, deciding transformation 7-Parameters that changes data about location information which is received by GPS receiver is important. In this study, it is decided transformation 7-Parameters that can be used in ka-pyoung area by using GPS surveying production that had put into operation.

As mechatronic systems have various, complex functions and require high performance, automatic fault detection is necessary for secure operation in manufacturing processes. For conducting automatic and real-time fault detection in modern mechatronic systems, multiple sensor signals are collected by internet of things technologies. Since traditional statistical control charts or machine learning approaches show significant results with unified and solid density models under normal operating states but they have limitations with scattered signal models under normal states, many pattern extraction and matching approaches have been paid attention. Signal discretization-based pattern extraction methods are one of popular signal analyses, which reduce the size of the given datasets as much as possible as well as highlight significant and inherent signal behaviors. Since general pattern extraction methods are usually conducted with a fixed size of time segmentation, they can easily cut off significant behaviors, and consequently the performance of the extracted fault patterns will be reduced. In this regard, adjustable time segmentation is proposed to extract much meaningful fault patterns in multiple sensor signals. By considering inflection points of signals, we determine the optimal cut-points of time segments in each sensor signal. In addition, to clarify the inflection points, we apply Savitzky-golay filter to the original datasets. To validate and verify the performance of the proposed segmentation, the dataset collected from an aircraft engine (provided by NASA prognostics center) is used to fault pattern extraction. As a result, the proposed adjustable time segmentation shows better performance in fault pattern extraction.

The previous geoid model developed in early 2000s shows 14cm level of precision due to the problems on distribution, and quality of the land gravity and GPS/Leveling data. From 2007, the new land and airborne gravity data as well as GPS/Leveling data having high quality and regular distribution has been obtained. In 2011, a new gravimetric geoid model has been constructed with precision of 5.29cm which was improved about 27% comparing to the previous model. However, much more land gravity data has been collected at the control point, bench marks and triangulation points since 2010. Also, GPS/Leveling data having 10km spacing over whole country has been obtained through the project which is for the construction of new control points. In this study, new gravimetric geoid has been calculated based on the all available gravity data up to present. The geoid height shows the range from 18.05m to 32.70m over whole country and its precision is 5.76cm. The degree of fit and precision of hybrid geoid model are 3.60cm and 4.06cm, respectively. At the end, 3.35cm of the relative precision in 15km baseline has been calculated to confirm its practical usage. Especially, it has been founded that regional bias occurred at the Kangwon and coastal area due to problems on the leveling data. Also, some inland points show inconsistent large difference which needs to be verified by analyzing the unified control points results.

The accuracy of GNSS depends on several factors from the equipment used in data processing because GNSS positioning can be used differently depending on the accuracy required. In the case of the control point surveying requiring high accuracy, GNSS surveying is performed using the relative positioning method, and the observation time and data processing s/w are used differently depending on the class of the control points. On the other hand, the accuracy of academic software depends on the skill of the user, so it may be better to use commercial software in the case of a short baseline. In this study, the results of GNSS survey data were compared using scientific software and commercial software. The results showed that the horizontal position showed a difference of less than 2 cm and the height showed a difference of less than 5 cm. These differences were found to be in the error ranges specified in the unified control point survey regulations. Based on the above results, the commercial s/w can be used for GNSS data processing at the midterm baseline rather than the long baseline.

A baggage handling system (BHS) in airport is an unified system for moving the passengers' baggage in designated time. Input baggage from the check-in counter travels to the baggage claim area or cargo handling terminal through this system. In particular, entryway BHS consists of conveyors, X-ray and sorters such as tilt-tray to send the baggage to departing airplane and it could have various problems for handling certain amount of baggage in restricted time such as baggage jamming at certain merge point. This causes systemic error such as delay of the time, omissions of the baggage and even breakdown of the equipment and inefficiency. Also the increasing maximum time of the baggage passing through the BHS could delay the flight schedule and finally decrease the service level. Thus, the algorithm for controlling the flow of the merge is essential to the system. The window reservation algorithm is the one of the most frequently used methods to control the merge configuration. Above all, the reserve location, so called reserve ahead point, that allocates the window is important for the performance of the algorithm. We propose the modified window reservation algorithm and the best reserve locations by changing the reserve ahead point in the induction conveyors. The effect of various reserve ahead points such as the capacity and utility of the system were analyzed and the most effective reserve ahead point combination was found. The total baggage processing time and the utilization of the tilt-tray are properly considered when choosing the optimal Reserve ahead point combination. In the layout of this study, the configuration of four conveyors merged into one tilt-tray is studied and simulation analysis is done by AutoMod(R), 3D simulation software. Through the simulation, the window reservation algorithm is effectively operated with the best combination of reserve ahead point which reduces the maximum baggage travel time.
The necessity of automatic precise georeferencing is increasing with the increase applications of high-resolution satellite imagery. One of the methods for collecting ground control points (GCPs) for precise georeferencing is to use chip images obtained by extracting a subset of an image map such as an ortho-aerial image, and can be automated using an image matching technique. In this case, the importance of the image matching success rate is increased due to the limitation of the number of the chip images for the known reference points such as the unified control point. This study aims to propose a method to improve the success rate of image matching between KOMPSAT-3A images and GCP chip images from aerial ortho-images. We performed the image matching with 7 cases of band pair using KOMPSAT-3A panchromatic (PAN), multispectral (MS), pansharpened (PS) imagery and GCP chip images, then compared matching success rates. As a result, about 10-30% of success rate is increased to about 40-50% when using PS imagery by using PAN and MS imagery. Therefore, using PS imagery for image matching of KOMPSAT-3A images and aerial ortho-images would be helpful to improve the matching success rate.

In addition to the VRS-RTK service, FKP-RTK service launched recently in Korea however unlike VRS, it is not yet applied to various surveying tasks. VRS system is operated in two way communication over the mobile Internet. When user send rover position data to network RTK server and the server provides correction data to users continuously. It causes to increase communications load and makes delaying or failure in data transmission depends on server capacity and number of concurrent users. In contrast, since FKP system is one way communication system, user only receives correction data and area correction parameters for the selected Continuous Reference Station from the server. Thus, there is no limitation to the number of concurrent users in FKP system and it would be more efficient than VRS system in terms of economic. To this end, we performed FKP-RTK test for Unified Control Points and Urban Control Points where are located at 5 regions in Korea to evaluate the accuracy. As a result, almost of FKP positioning data are in error range of ${\pm}6.2cm$ in horizontal and it would be enough for construction survey such as for earth work in limited except precise structure survey.

Currently, the regulation and rules for public surveying and the UCPs (Unified Control Points) adapts those of the triangulated traverse surveying. In addition, such regulations do not take account of the unique characteristics of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) surveying, thus there are difficulties in field work and data processing afterwards. A detailed procesure of GNSS processing has not yet been described either, and the verification of accuracy does not follow the generic standards. In order to propose an appropriate procedure for field surveys, we processed a short session (30 minutes) based on the scenarios similar to actual situations. The reference network in Seoul was used to process the same data span for 3 days. The temporal variation during the day was evaluated as well. We analyzed the accuracy of the estimated coordinates depending on the parameterization of tropospheric delay, which was compared with the 24-hr static processing results. Estimating the tropospheric delay is advantageous for the accuracy and stability of the coordinates, resulting in about 5 mm and 10 mm of RMSE (Root Mean Squared Error) for horizontal and vertical components, respectively. Based on the test results, we propose a procedure to estimate the daily solution and then combine them to estimate the final solution by applying the minimum constraints (no-net-translation condition). It is necessary to develop a web-based processing system using a high-end softwares. Additionally, it is also required to standardize the ID of the public control points and the UCPs for the automatic GNSS processing.
