Practical and Verifiable C++ Dynamic Cast for Hard Real-Time Systems

  • The dynamic cast operation allows flexibility in the design and use of data management facilities in object-oriented programs. Dynamic cast has an important role in the implementation of the Data Management Services (DMS) of the Mission Data System Project (MDS), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's experimental work for providing a state-based and goal-oriented unified architecture for testing and development of mission software. DMS is responsible for the storage and transport of control and scientific data in a remote autonomous spacecraft. Like similar operators in other languages, the C++ dynamic cast operator does not provide the timing guarantees needed for hard real-time embedded systems. In a recent study, Gibbs and Stroustrup (G&S) devised a dynamic cast implementation strategy that guarantees fast constant-time performance. This paper presents the definition and application of a cosimulation framework to formally verify and evaluate the G&S fast dynamic casting scheme and its applicability in the Mission Data System DMS application. We describe the systematic process of model-based simulation and analysis that has led to performance improvement of the G&S algorithm's heuristics by about a factor of 2. In this work we introduce and apply a library for extracting semantic information from C++ source code that helps us deliver a practical and verifiable implementation of the fast dynamic casting algorithm.

  • This study aims to analyze on the change status in the project plan of the housing complex as evaluated through the Housing Performance Grading Indication System. This a a system for assessing quantitatively the comprehensive, unified performance of housing by an objective standard from the design stage since January 9, 2006. As housing is a composite with various performances, it is required necessary to objectively assess the various performances from the design stage for building better housing. Thus, this study analyzed the change status and objectively described objectively it centering on the construction and structure drawings for 12 items posted in the Facility Management System_(FMS) out of examples recognized by 2011 since the implementation of the system. The changes were analyzed though observing each performance item-specific characteristics and confirming the books approved for use. In various parts, such as the site area, landscape plan, plane plan for unit, supplementary welfare facility plan, finishing materials, window size and location, the project plan was changed. These changes may result in a grading change in of the performance items of the system. This study purpose is for it to be used as a basic resource required for future system development by supplementing the limitation of the design phase and then through playing a basic role for the assessment after completion.

A Management Method for hierarchical Information Structures on Web Systems (계층적 정보 구조의 Web 시스템 관리 기술)

  • Web Information Systems have many static HTML documents and dynamic CGI application programs. A hyperlinked information environment on Web systems include lots of mutually referenced documents. This cause problems of data consistency in a intra-document and among inter-documents. To solve the problems, we propose a management method of Web system which have hierarchical information structure, and an unified problem-solving approach. We construct a large scale practical Web system based upon the proposed architecture. The proposed results can provide many advantage to WebMasteters.

Study on Effective Arrangement of Main Engine Top-Bracing (메인 엔진 탑-브레이싱의 효과적 배치에 관한 연구)

  • This paper provides procedures to effectively determine arrangement of hydraulic type top-bracings, which are popular for the main engine of the mid and large sized commercial vessels. Analyzing the operation mechanism of hydraulic top-bracing, ideal unified nonlinear stiffness curve is presented for linear frequency response analysis and nonlinear transient response analysis. Nonlinear stiffnesses of the curve are determined based on the regression analysis of test results. It is noted from linear frequency response analysis, initial setting pressure is most important among the setting values of the other stiffness intervals. From transient response analyses for two top-bracing arrangement scenarios, it is recognized that, as far as initial setting pressure is well controlled for the concerning vessels, only two top-bracings are enough to suppress H-mode excitation forces from main engine.

  • Riverfront plays an important role as accessible and inclusive public space for residents, and a riverfront development and management has become a social and environmental issue. The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean legislation and guidelines applied in a riverfront assessment process to identify any legislative problems. To this end, major laws, regulations, national river management plans, and various guidelines related to river management were reviewed. The followings are the suggestions proposed for future improvement. First, clear and consistent definitions on riverfront areas and its spatial range are required across the laws. Also, recreational activities and facilities in riverfront should be categorized and listed for possible development and maintenance. Second, it is necessary to develop an objective and unified riverfront assessment system. Also, guidelines for surveying and evaluating the conditions and potentials of riverfront should be developed. Third, efforts should be made to revise related laws and guidelines to enable comprehensive and systematic approach in design, planning, implementation, maintenance of riverfront. Improving the related legislations and streamlining an riverfront assessment process can help create environmentally-friendly riverfront spaces and mange them efficiently.

A Study on the Attributes of Fractal on M.C. Escher′s Works (에셔(M. C. Escher) 작품의 프랙탈 속성에 관한 연구)

  • Fractal which was named by Mandelbrot in 1975 and its theory have been taken notice of many fields of scholarship, namely mathematics, physics, geography, architecture, art, philosophy and so on. If we approach Fractal on the basis of the designing cogitation, it can be used not only as one of materials to take a crease thinking in design, also as a due of the methods to assess the design problem with a new point of view. Based on above background, in this study, it was studied on the graphic artist, Morits Collelius Escher who has been well known as the great artist of illusion," and on the attributes of Fractal which were contained in his various work\ulcorner As a reset, the four attributes, namey ′fractal dimension′, ′self-similarity, ′recursiveness′and ′infinity were founded in his works. Also, it was founded that Escher had employed the attributes of Fractal in his almost works for "the representation of the condition of unified-duality," that is to say, for the union of two different dimensions. After this, it is expected that this study shoed be extended to the development of the principle of Fractal-Design on the basis of ′Fractal which can be defined as the phenomenon of repetitious pattern between chaos and order and′the formative beauty of Fractal′.

A Study on Problems of Combined Development and Environment-Friendly Improvements of Golf Course in Forest Areas in Gyeonggi-Do (경기도 산림지역 골프장의 연접개발 문제점 및 친환경성 개선방안)

  • Recently, in forest areas of Gyeonggi-Do where golf courses are developed indiscriminately due to the rapid increase in demand, two and three golf courses are being concentrated and combined to develop and it's occurring lots of problems. This study therefore, aims to examine their problems and propose environment-friendly improvements of combined development, by analyzing laws related to golf course's location and the current location status. The results of this study are as followings; Firstly, when analyzing related laws, it was found that unified standards should be established in relation to regulation of the external conditions of golf course sites and individual index. Secondly, standards of a proper separated distance are needed, when developing golf courses. Thirdly, we need to preferentially preserve areas where should be protected environmentally, and establish criteria approving golf courses built close to the boundary of a buffer area only, by introducing the concepts of a buffer area based on the UNESCO MAB. Lastly, we have to set up criteria considering Network elements for maintaining the connectivity of the ecosystem.

  • 최근 가상교육에서 학습 기술의 상호 운용성을 기반으로 한 표준화의 필요성을 인식하고 여러 국제표준기관을 통해서 기반 환경과 컨텐트 명세 및 활용에 대한 표준화 작업이 이루어지고 있다. 이로 인해 e-learning 분야에서는 국제표준을 소개하고 체제적으로 AICC(Aviation Industry CBT Committee), IMS(Instructional Management Systems) Global Learning Consortium, ADL(Advanced Distributed Learning)을 중심으로 진행되어 오고 있다. 특히, 미래의 진보적인 e-learning 환경 개발로, 기능별 5계층으로 구성된 LTSA(Learning Technology Standard Architecture)를 제정하고 이를 통한 개발을 지원하고 있다. 하지만, 이는 시스템 구성요소를 정의한 계층 3의 경우 데이터 흐름 모델로 작성되어 현재 개발 수준과 일치하지 않는 문제점을 가지는 모델로 인정한다. 본 논문에서는 표준 모델링 언어인 UML(Unified Modeling Language)을 통해 모델을 재정의하고, 각 프로세스별 단계를 메타모델로 제시하여 개발과 아키텍처의 이해에 대한 문제점을 해결하고자 한다. 또한, 재정의된 모델을 기반으로 e-learning 지원을 위한 분석, 설계 프로세스를 정의하여 이에 대한 사례를 제시한다. 이는 아키텍처를 기반으로 한 메타모델과 프로세스를 통한 교육영역의 질의 응답 학습 도구인 QALT(Query-Answer Learning Tool)에 적용한다. 모델의 재정의로 아키텍처의 이해성 및 이를 기반으로 하는 교육용 애플리케이션 개발의 용이성의 증대를 기대할 수 있으며, 모델의 재사용성을 보장할 수 있다.

  • Korean Ministry of National Defense has criteria for military facilities but most were made with the focus on design criteria of facilities and especially in the case of information and communication, only overall criteria with the level of conceptual design are suggested without details. By comparing the design standards of ICAN and I3A that are applied in US Department of Defense, this study will suggest the desirable design standard of Korean military on command/control facilities and general/administrative facilities.

  • 최근 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스와 스트림 서비스의 급증과 사용자의 서비스 기대 증가로 인해 기존의 컴퓨팅 환경도 인터넷 기반의 분산 멀티미디어 환경으로 변화되고 있다. 이러한 다양한 요구를 만족시키기 위해서는 인터넷 환경과 실시간 특성들이 혼합된 폭넓은 범위의 분산 애플리케이션을 지원해야 하고, 이들 서비스간의 QoS(Quality of Service)를 보장해야 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 분산환경인 CORBA기반에서 자원들의 효과적인 관리와 서비스들간의 QoS를 보장하는 분산 QoS 관리 구조를 제시한다 즉, 클라이언트 측에 QoS 제어 관리 모들(QoS Control Management Module)을, 서버측에는 QoS 관리 모듈(QoS Management Module)을 각각 분산시켜 QoS 관리 및 제어를 분산 구조화함으로써 서버 시스템의 부하를 줄이고, 분산 서비스 응용에 지원을 확장할 수 있도록 하며 모듈들의 재사용이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 분산 QoS 제어를 위해 실시간 협약(Negotiation) 및 동적 적응(Dynamic Adaptation)과정이 분산환경에서 수행되도록 기능 설계를 하였다. 이들 기능수행의 전반과정을 UML(Unified Modeling Lang uage)을 이용하여 순차적 다이어그램으로 기술하였다.
