  • The void volume fraction of cables is one of the effective parameters to characterize the joints of superconducting magnet. Because electrical resistance and cooling stability in the CICC (Cable-in-Conduit Conductors) joint are governed by the void volume fraction, it should be controlled constantly in the termination of cable. The change of cross-section shape in the cable was fecund during the unidirectional compaction of terminal sleeve. The non-uniform thickness of the sleeve after compaction is expected because the loading is not taxi-symmetric, and the plastic flow is also not axi-symmetric. The CICC was compacted from 45% void volume fraction to 15% by using two-piece compaction jig, which could be pressed mini-directionally. Commercial code, ABAQUS, was used to analyze the plastic flow in the sleeve during the unidirectional compaction. The increment of radius of curvature of compaction jig could minimize the change of the deformed shape of cables. The calculated results were agreed with the experimental observations.

  • The conventional methods of boundary-conformed 2D surfaces generation usually yield some problems. This paper deals with two boundary-conformed 2D surface generation methods, one conventional approach, the linear Coons method, and a new method, boundary-conformed interpolation. In this new method, unidirectional 2D surface has been generated using some of the geometric properties of the given boundary curves. A method of simultaneous displacement of the interpolated curves from the opposite boundaries has been adopted. The geometric properties considered for displacements include weighted combination of angle bisector and linear displacement vectors at all the data-points of the two opposite generating curves. The algorithm has one adjustable parameter that controls the characteristics of transformation of one set of curves from its parents. This unidirectional process has been extended to bi-directional parameterization by superimposing two sets of unidirectional curves generated from both boundary pairs. Case studies show that this algorithm gives reasonably smooth transformation of the boundaries. This algorithm is more robust than the linear Coons method and capable of resolving the 2D boundary-conformed parameterization problems.

  • Nonlinear mechanical behaviors of unidirectional carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates using cup-stacked carbon nanotubes (CSCNTs) dispersed epoxy are evaluated and compared with those of CFRP laminates without CSCNTs. Off-axis compression tests are performed to obtain the stress-strain relations. One-parameter plasticity model is applied to characterize the nonlinear response of unidirectional laminates, and nonlinear behaviors of laminates with and without CSCNTs are compared. Clear improvement in stiffness of off-axis specimens by using CSCNTs is demonstrated, which is considered to contribute the enhancement of the longitudinal compressive strength of unidirectional laminates and compressive strength of multidirectional laminates. Finally, longitudinal compressive strengths are predicted based on a kink band model including the nonlinear responses in order to demonstrate the improvement in longitudinal strength of CFRP by dispersing CSCNTs.

  • The Compression molding process is widely used in the automotive industry to produce parts that are large, thin, light-weight, strong and stiff. Compression molded parts are formed by squeezing a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene sheet, known a glass mat thermoplastic(GMT), between two heated cavity surfaces. In this study, the anisotropic viscosity of the Unidirectional Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Composites is measured using the parallel plastometer and the composites is treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of molding parameter and fiber contents ratio on longitudinal/transverse viscosity are also discussed.

  • The NiMn/NiFe bilayer structure which was short time annealed in order to induce unidirectional anisotropy were studied as a function of annealing temperature. The maximum exchange bias field of NiMn/NiFe bilayer was presented at $250^{\circ}C$ after short time annealing process with no external field. The appearance of exchange bias was due to phase transformation of NiMn layer. In plane angular dependence of a resonance field distribution which measured by FMR was analysed as a combined effect of unidirectional anisotropy and uniaxial anisotropy. The resonance field and the line width from FMR measurement were also analysed with annealing temperature.

  • A twin unidirectional impulse turbine for wave energy conversion has been suggested in our previous study, and the performance under unsteady flow has been investigated by quasi-steady analysis. In the present study, the performance of twin impulse turbine under unsteady flow condition has been investigated by unsteady analysis of Computational fluid dynamics. As a result, the mean efficiency of twin unidirectional impulse turbine under unsteady flow is lower than the maximum efficiency of unidirectional impulse turbine. Moreover, it is verified that airflow goes backward in the reverse turbine in low flow rates.

  • Most of the previous proxy re-encryption schemes rely on the average-case hardness problems such as the integer factorization problems and the discrete logarithm problems. Therefore, they cannot guarantee its security under quantum analysis, since there exist quantum algorithms efficiently solving the factorization and logarithm problems. In the paper, we propose the first proxy re-encryption scheme based on the hard worst-case lattice problems. Our scheme has many useful properties as follows: Unidirectional, collusion-resistant, noninteractive, proxy invisible, key optimal, and nontransitive. We also provided the formal security proof of the proposed scheme in the random oracle model.

  • The columns of older reinforced concrete (RC) buildings generally have limited reinforcement details. Thus, they could be vulnerable to earthquake ground motions, leading to partial or complete building collapse. In this study, high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite (HPFRCC) was applied to RC columns to improve their seismic behavior. Experimental tests were conducted with two full-sized specimens with limited reinforcement details, including short lap splices, while unidirectional loadings were applied to the specimens. The seismic behavior of RC columns was substantially improved by using HPFRCC.

  • The accurate prediction of User Equipment (UE) paths in wireless networks is crucial for improving handover mechanisms and optimizing network performance, particularly in the context of Beyond 5G and 6G networks. This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation of unidirectional and bidirectional recurrent neural network (RNN) architectures for UE path prediction. The study employs a sequence-to-sequence model designed to forecast user paths in a wireless network environment, comparing the performance of unidirectional and bidirectional RNNs. Through extensive experimentation, the paper highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each RNN architecture in terms of prediction accuracy and computational efficiency. These insights contribute to the development of more effective predictive path-based mobility management strategies, capable of addressing the challenges posed by ultra-dense cell deployments and complex network dynamics.

  • In this paper, the performance of upidirectional and hi-directional regenerative erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is compared. The systems are operating above laser oscillation threshold. The experimental results show that the unidirectional regenerative EDFA has a better performance than the hi-directional.
