  • We shall propose several estimators and confidence intervals for the scale parameter in a uniform distribution with the presence of a unidentified outlier and obtain biases and mean squared errors for their proposed estimators. And we shall numerically compare the performances for the proposed several estimators of the sclae parameter. Also, we shall compare lengths of confidence intervals of the scale parameter in a uniform distribution through Monte Carlo methods.

  • The successful elucidation of the opiate receptor and its natural ligands has generated speculation that other drugs might interact with cellular sites designed to accommodate endogenous mediators. The properties of binding sites for the cardiac glycosides(CG), together wit the potency and specificity of the digitalis drugs suggest that CG mimic an endogenous digitalis-like factor. Recenthy, several laboratories have reported the potency in mammalian tissues and fluids of unidentified materials that share certain specific propeties of the CG. Identification of body's own digitalis might yield a natural co pound whose synthetic analogs may provide safer and more effective drugs than can be achieved by structural edification of the CG of plant origin.

  • thirteen dictyostelid cellular slime molds were isolated from forest soils, cattle dung and manure inisland Ulneungdo, South Korea. They were ten species including Dictyostelium aureo-stipes var. aureo-stipes, D. brefeldianum, D. macrocephalum, D. caudabasis, D. sphaerocephalum, D. giganteum, D. crassicaule, Polysphondylium pallidum, P. violaceum and P. tenuissimum as well as three species unidentified. D. aureo-stipes var. aureo-species of genus Polysphondylium distributed widely. It was thought that species diversi쇼 was considerabley higher.

  • We shall propose several estimators for the scale parameter in the Pareto distribution with an unidentified exponential outlier when the scale parameter is functions of a known exposure level, and obtain expectations and variances for their proposed estimators. And we shall compare numerically efficiencies for proposed estimators of the scale and shape parameters in the small sample sizes.

  • For the trajectory control of dynamic systems with unidentified parameters a second-order iterative learning control method is presented. In contrast to other known methods, the proposed learning control scheme can utilize more than one error history contained in the trajectories generated at prior iterations. A convergency proof is given and it is also shown that the convergence speed can be improved in compared to conventional methods. Examples are provided to show effectiveness of the algorithm, and, via simulation, it is demonstrated that the method yields a good performance even in the presence of distubances.

  • Two interesting new hyphomycetes collected on rachis of an unidentified palm (Palmao) from Malayasia are described and their taxonomy is discussed in this paper. One of them is unique in producing basauxic conidiophores from conidiophore mother cells that are sessile, simple, cylindrical or cupulate, and solitary, gangliar, acrogenous, dry phragmoconidia. It is classified in a new genus Basauxia, as a new species, B. pulchra. The other hyphomycete is also unique in producing characteristic solitary, eight-celled, eight-armed gangliar conidia on simple conidiophores. A new genus, Ashtaangam is proposed for it in which it is placed as a new species, A. sundaram.

  • Synthesis and chemical properties of 1,4-bisdiazo-2-butene have been studied. 1,4-Bisdiazo-2-butene which was very unstable produced in protic solvents 1,3-butadiene and one unidentified substance instead of ring compounds. The reaction in aprotic solvents remains for further investigations.

  • The traditional view of dust in the interstellar medium is that it is made of graphite and silicates. In this paper, we discuss the evidence for complex organics being a major component of interstellar dust. Comparison between astronomical infrared spectra and laboratory spectra of amorphous carbonaceous materials suggests that organics of mixed aromatic-aliphatic structures are widely present in circumstellar, interstellar, and galactic environments. Scenarios for the synthesis of these compounds in the late stages of stellar evolution are presented.

  • Seven dictyostelid cellular slime molds isolated from the forest soils of Mt. Halla were described and illustrated. Dictyostelium flavidum Hong et Chang and three unidentified Dictyostelium, HL-2, HL-3 and CJ-9 were compared and discussed. All the isolates were cultivated on low nutrient media, 0.1- L-P(pH6) with Escherichia coli at 20-22$^{\circ}C$. Seven unrecorded species were all polar granule (PG) negative. These were Dictyostelium crassicaule Hagiwara, D. sphaerocephalum (Oud.) Sacc. et March, D. macrocephalum Hagiwara, Yeh et Chien, D. capitatum Hagiwara, D. brefeldianum Hagiwara, D. aureum var. aureum Cavender, Worley and Raper, and D. giganteum Singh.
