This paper presents an experimental study of bond-slip behavior of reinforced lightweight aggregate concrete (LC) and normal weight concrete (NC) with embedded steel bar. Tests were conducted on tension-pull specimens that had cross-sectional dimension with a reinforcing bar embedded in the center section. The experimental variables include concrete strength (20, 40, and 60 MPa) and coarse aggregate type (normal-weight aggregate and reservoir sludge lightweight aggregate). The test results show that as concrete compressive strength increased, the magnitudes of the slip of the LC specimens were greater than those of the NC specimens. Moreover, the bond strength and stiffness approaches zero at the loaded end, or close to the central anchored point of the specimen. In addition, the proposed bond stress-slip equation can effectively estimate the behavior of bond stress and steel bar slipping.

This study was aimed to investigate the tensile behaviors of PE(Polyethylene) fiber-reinforced highly ductile cementitious composites with different combinations of micro silica sand and normal sand(river sand) with maximum particle size of 4.75 mm. Flow test result indicated the increase of flowability with higher replacement ratio of river sand. There was no noticeable difference in the mean compressive strength with different replacement ratio of river sand, but the variation in the compressive strength increased as higher amount of river sand was adopted for the replacement. The difference in the uniaxial tensile strength was negligible, but the tensile strain capacity was significantly influenced by the replacement ratio of river sand. It is thought that increased density of multiple cracks induced improved tensile strain capacity when higher percentage of river sand was adopted for fine aggregate. The deviation in the strain capacity increased as the replacement ratio of river sand was higher, as in the compressive strength. This study presented the feasibility of using normal sand instead of micro silica sand for highly ductile cementitious composites with equivalent or better uniaxial tensile performance, even though it might increase the deviation in the performance.
An analytical model which can simulate the post-cracking nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) members such as bars and panels subject to uniaxial and biaxial stresses is presented. The proposed model includes the description of biaxial failure criteria and the average stress-strain relation of reinforcing steel. Based on strain distribution functions of steel and concrete after cracking, a criterion to consider the tension-stiffening effect is proposed using the concept of average stresses and strains. The validity of the introduced model is established by comparing the analytical predictions for reinforced concrete uniaxial tension members with results from experimental studies. In advance, correlation studies between analytical results and experimental data are also extended to RC panels subject to biaxial tensile stresses to verify the efficiency of the proposed model and to identify the significance of various effects on the response of biaxially loaded reinforced concrete panels.

In the present study, blow forming characteristics of commercially roiled AZ31 alloy sheets were investigated. Two different kinds of AZ31 sheets were originally fabricated by using direct casting and strip casting methods respectively. Both sheets have similar grain sizes of about $7{\mu}m$ with a relatively equiaxed structure after rolling. A series of tensile tests were carried out to get flow behavior in terms of temperature and strain rate. Also, grain size effect was investigated by annealing as-received sheet at elevated temperatures. Elongation increased with temperature increment as well expected. However, the differences in tensile test condition did not give much difference in elongation even at the temperature range where a large elongation would be expected with such as fine grain of $7{\mu}m$. Blow forming experiments showed that forming condition did not result in higher difference in dome height. However, the interesting feature from this study was that formability of this AZ31 alloy got different with stress condition. Firstly, biaxial stress condition might result in lower temperature and strain rate dependencies compared to uniaxial tension results for both DC and SC sheets. Secondly, DC showed slower grain growth in uniaxial tension than in biaxial stress state while SC has much higher grain growth rage in uniaxial tension than in bulging.

Ultra-High Strength Concrete(UHPC) has ultra-high material performance including high strength and high flowability. On the other hand it is less ductile than high ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite. This study investigated the effect of combination of steel fiber and micro fiber on the tensile behavior of UHPC. Four types of UHPC containing combination of steel fiber, polyethylene(PE), polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), and basalt fiber were designed. And then uniaxial tension tests were performed to evaluate the tensile behavior of UHPC according to combination of fibers. And density was measured to evaluate whether micro fiber induces unintentional high pore or not. From the test results, it was exhibited that PE fiber with high strength is effective to improve the tensile behavior of UHPC and basalt fiber is effective to increase the cracking and tensile strength of UHPC. Furthermore, it was also verified that micro fiber does not make high pore.

Hihg Tensile Steel enables to reduce the plate thickness comparing to the case when Mild Steel is used. From the economical view points this is very preferable since the reduction in the hull weight. however to use the High Tensile Steel effectively the plate thickness may become thin so that the occurrence of buckling is inevitable and design allowing plate buckling may be necessary. If the inplane stiffness of the plating decreases due to buckling the flexural rigidity of the cross sect6ion of a ship's hull also decreases. This may lead to excessive deflection of the hull girder under longitudinal bending. In these cases a precise estimation of plate's behavior after buckling is necessary and nonliner analysis of isolated and stiffened plates is required for structural sys-tem analysis. In this connection this paper discusses nonlinear behaviour of thin plate under thrust. Based on the analytical method elastic large deflection analysis of isolated plate is perform and simple expression are derived to evaluated the inplane rigidity of plates subjected to uniaxial compression.

Drying shrinkage in the hardened cement is known to change in volume by decreasing the moisture content in the hardened body, and it is known that the higher the W / C and the higher the content of the paste, the larger the drying shrinkage. In the case of ECC, more drying shrinkage occurs compared to concrete, since it does not contain coarse aggregate. Since ECC is an important material for tensile performance, the effect of restrained tensile stress on mechanical tensile behavior should be considered. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of stress caused by restraint on the tensile behavior of ECC. The mechanical properties of the specimens were tested by uniaxial tension tests with different restraints. As a result, the difference of tensile behavior according to restraint stress was observed and the cause was analyzed.

Aiming at the mechanical and structural characteristics of the contact zone composite rock, the uniaxial compression tests and numerical studies were carried out. The interaction forms and formation mechanisms at the contact interfaces of different materials were analyzed to reveal the effect of interaction on the mechanical behavior of composite samples. The research demonstrated that there are three types of interactions between the two materials at the contact interface: constraint parallel to the interface, squeezing perpendicular to the interface, and shear stress on the interface. The interaction is mainly affected by the differences in Poisson's ratio and elastic modulus of the two materials, stronger interface adhesion, and larger interface inclination. The interaction weakens the strength and stiffness of the composite sample, and the magnitude of weakening is positively correlated with the degree of difference in the mechanical properties of the materials. The tensile-shear stress derived from the interaction results in the axial tensile fracture perpendicular to the interface and the interfacial shear facture. Tensile cracks in stronger material will propagation into the weaker material through the bonded interface. The larger inclination angle of the interface enhances the effect of composite tensile/shear failure on the overall sample.
This paper presents a mechanistic approach to uniaxial viscoelastic constitutive modeling of asphalt concrete that accounts for damage evolution under cyclic loading conditions. An elasticviscoelastic correspondence principle in terms of pseudo variables is applied to separately evaluate viscoelasticity and time-dependent damage growth in asphalt concrete. The time-dependent damage growth in asphalt concrete is modeled by using a damage parameter based on a generalization of microcrack growth law. Internal state variables that describe the hysteretic behavior of asphalt concrete are determined. A constitutive equation in terms of stress and pseudo strain is first established for controlled-strain mode and then transformed to a controlled-stress constitutive equation by simply replacing physical stress and pseudo strain with pseudo stress and physical strain. Tensile uniaxial fatigue tests are performed under the controlled-strain mode to determine model parameters. The constitutive equations in terms of pseudo strain and pseudo stress satisfactorily predict the constitutive behavior of asphalt concrete all the way up to failure under controlled-strain and -stress modes, respectively.

The deformation behavior of stainless steel-clad aluminum sheet metals under uniaxial tension has been investigated. The differences in mechanical properties such as elastic modulus, flow stress and plastic strain ratio, of component layers of the composite sheet gave rise to warping of the tensile specimens. The warping has been analyzed by FEM and the total force and momentum equilibria. The analyzed radii of curvature of the warped specimens were smaller than the measured data possibly due to elastic recovery during unloading. The differences in mechanical properties may also give rise to transverse stresses in the component layers. The transverse stresses have been analyzed on the assumption of isostrain and by the FEM in which the warping has been taken into account. The transverse stresses calculated by the FEM were lower than those by the isostrain hypothesis due to stress relaxation by the warping and turned out to be negligible compared with the longitudinal stresses. Consequently, the flow stresses of the composite sheets follow the rule of mixtures.
