The Performance and Efficiency Analysis of a PVT System Compared with a PV module and a Solar collector (PVT 시스템의 PV 모듈 및 태양열 집열기 대비 성능 및 효율 비교분석)

  • A photovoltaic/thermal(PVT)solar system is the solar technology that allows for simultaneous conversion of solar energy into both electricity and heat. This paper compared the performance of PVT system with a conventional PV module and solar collector and analyzed electrical and thermal efficiency of PVT system in terms of solar irradiance and inlet temperature of the working fluid. Based on the experimental data, thermal and electrical efficiencies of the glazed PVT system were 57.9% and 14.27% under zero reduced temperature condition which were lower by 13.6% than the solar thermal absorber plate and by 0.08% than the PV module respectively. For the unglazed PVT system, it had lower thermal efficiency than the solar thermal absorber plate but higher electrical performance than the PV module due to the cooling effect by the working fluid. However, total efficiency of the glazed PVT system was 72.2% which was higher than combined efficiencies of the solar collector and PV module. Besides, total efficiency of the PVT system would be much higher if calculated based on unit area.

A Fundamental Study for Development of Unglazed Transpired Collector Control System in Windowless Pig House (무창돈사 내 무창기공형 집열기 제어 시스템 개발을 위한 기초적 연구)

  • In this study, manufactured experimental pig house (two pig house) and compared the changes in internal temperature and energy depending on the application of UTC control system for their utilizing of them as basic data for maintaining proper conditions for feeding environment and reducing heating energy depending on the UTC control system and program development, prior to applying the UTC system into pig house, representative agricultural facility. The control system ranges T1~T4 which is made to control a total of five output signals O1~O5 in the way of On/Off by using the algorithms of the program after measuring temperature scored 4 of total. Temperature setting was controlled with 28.0℃ in experimental pig house and 34.0℃ in UTC plenum, and output signal was controlled by comparing it with the measured temperature. During 3 days, the maximum temperature were measured at an average 31.8℃ when operated the control system in pig house. At the same time, the maximum temperature were measured 36.6℃ in comparison pig house, it was low temperature at 4.8℃ in experimental pig house than comparison pig house. Also, UTC plenum temperature was showed that rose at an average 50.5℃ by operation of the control program.

  • A Photovoltaic/Thermal(PVT) solar system consists of PV module and thermal absorber plate which convert the absorbed solar radiation into electricity and heat. Meaningful researches and development (R&D) on the PVT technologies have been performed since the 1970s. This paper presents a review of the previous works covering the various types of PVT and their performance analysis in terms of electrical and thermal efficiency. This review compares electrical and thermal efficiency of the different types of PVT collectors and analyzes the parameters affecting PVT performance. Based on the literature review, box channel type PVT with unglazed, or flat plate PVT with glazed have the highest efficiency among them. From the literature review, R&D should be carried out aiming at improving their overall electrical and thermal efficiency, cutting down the cost, and making them more competitive in the energy consumption market.
