This paper presents a scheme for a hierarchical production scheduling and control system for a refrigerator factory with mixed model assembly lines. The setting of the factory is as follows. There are three mixed-model assembly lines called main line A, B and C and two batch lines that supply parts to the main lines. For each of the main lines, three work-centers are dedicated to them. The sub-lines and work-centers produce parts in batch type. An incoming production order from the master planner is characterized by its product type, amount, and due date. Under this situation, the proposed scheme has several features to schedule and control the above mentioned factory; 1) select the starting time and the place (assembly line) for an order processing, 2) devise a way to control orders to be processed as scheduled, and 3) reschedule orders when something unexpected happen. Finally, this paper provides a case study where the proposed scheme is applied to.
This present study focuses on Franco's censorship and its influences in the works of Carmen Martín Gaite and Miguel Delibes. We know that from the years 1940's to 1970's a very harsh censorship existed in Spain. But the authors of those times were not completely obedient to the power of the Regime. Some authors attempted to find a new way to present his novels. In fact, Between Curtains of Martín Gaite shows an ideology that advocates for women who were not valued as deserved at the time. Against Franco's totalitarianism the author indirectly revealed readers an attempt to improve the situation of women, criticizing the tradition. On the other hand, Delibes sought a new way of presenting the novel in Five Hours with Mario to avoid Franco regime's censorship. The author hid behind a character that represents Franco's politics to criticize the society of that time. The both authors as representatives of contemporary Spanish literature demonstrate that the oppression does not restrict the authors' ability to create unexpected works.
An unexpected occlusion in a real life, not in a laboratory, can be more fatal to neural networks than expected. In addition, it is virtually impossible to create a network that learns all the environmental changes as well as occlusions. Therefore, we propose an alternative approach in which the architecture and number of parameters remain unchanged while adapting to occlusion circumstances. Learning method with the term Conversion Learning classifies them more robustly by converting the weights from various occlusion situations. The experiments on MNIST dataset showed a 3.07 [%p] performance improvement over the baseline CNN model in a situation where most objects are occluded and unknowing what occlusion will appear in advance. The experimental results suggest that Conversion Learning is an efficient method to respond to environmental changes such as occluded images.
A study on the need for a safety system using driver's biometric information, vehicle automatic emergency braking system, and the e-call system that in the event of an unexpected situation such as loss of driving ability due to sudden physical abnormality of elderly drivers and drivers with health problems, and the improvement of laws for the spread of this system were studied.

Military aircrafts usually operate at the area with lots of threats such as radars and surface-to-air missiles. Aircraft also faces with the unexpected or pop-up threats. Under this environment, a safe flight path should be generated to lead a mission successful. In this paper, a new path planning algorithm is proposed to provide less dangerous flight path efficiently. Of many path planning algorithms, a potential method is considered, because it has advantages of computation efficiency and smooth path generation. Trajectory generation under the condition of maximum range is studied so that the aircraft may reach the target area without refueling. The algorithm to cope with an unexpected situation is also proposed by adopting the concept of initial direction vector, additional force, and a new mapping function. The performance of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defences) mission by numerical simulation.

Autonomous vehicles can significantly reduce accidents due to 'driver's carelessness', which occupies the majority of causes for traffic accidents, but they may fail to avoid traffic accidents due to unexpected situations, such as "trolley dilemma", vehicle defects and road defects. Therefore in situations Autonomous vehicles need to be made ethical choices. This study assumes that Autonomous vehicles can not avoid traffic accidents due to unexpected sink holes. In this situation, the traffic accident costs was analyzed for the ethical choices of Autonomous vehicles. In the process, Autonomous vehicles were made to choose one of three ethical choices : (1) Egoism with priority on passenger safety, (2) Deontology for minimizing human damages, (3) Utilitarianism with minimizing traffic accident costs. As a result of the analysis, egoism had the highest traffic accident costs, and deontology for minimizing human damages had the lowest traffic accident costs.
This paper investigates the accuracy of the vehicle pre-braking speed estimated based upon measured skidding distance. Driver ordinarily takes sudden braking when urgent situation is developed in the front or when the driver is involved in an unexpected situation, and the driver may be inflicted upon an accident depending on the required stopping distance. Among factors influencing the stopping distance of vehicle such as recognition response time of driver, performance of vehicle's braking device, and state of road surface etc, pre-braking speed is seemingly the most important influencing factor. Currently, in the investigating section of traffic accidents, the state of overspeed is determined by the pre-skidding speed calculated based on the length of skid mark. In order to identify the accurate cause of the accident, it is strongly recommended that estimation of pre-braking speed should be estimated taking into account speed reduction during transient time. In this study, we propose a method for estimating more accurate exact speed information of vehicle at the time of traffic accident. The outcomes from this study potentially help better understanding of the characteristics of vehicle for traffic safety in the future.
A LEO Satellite performs automatic initial operations by FSW after separation from a launch vehicle. After initial operation by FSW is finished, preparation for normal operation is performed by ground during bus initial activation and checkout phase. First of all, we check state of health of the satellite including solar array deployment status. After then, each unit of spacecraft bus is activated and checked. After activation and checkout of every units used for normal operation, we check maneuver performance for imaging mission and orbit maintenance performance. Because the Bus IAC is performed during limited ground contact time, every detailed procedure must be designed considering ground contact. Therefore, the Bus IAC procedure is separated into several parts based on ground contact duration. In addition, the procedures for every possible operation including expected situation as results of IAC procedures and unexpected contingency situation must be prepared. The contingency operation is also designed based on ground contact duration. The LEO satellite was successfully launched and the Bus IAC was successfully performed. In this paper, we explain design concepts and execution results of Bus IAC.
The substantial economic expansion of the 1990s with the dramatic changes in the provision of welfare services in America, including welfare services for the homeless, had unexpected and differential impacts on homelessness and poverty rates across the states. This paper examines a spatial pattern and process of homelessness by counties in Maryland, USA, considering the spatial differences in the composition of financial income and expenditure with sharply different poverty situation and welfare services. This social geographical approach of homelessness in Maryland focuses on the changing personal characteristics of homeless people and the relation=hip between homelessness and poverty; homelessness and the provision of welfare services such as shelter beds and emergency food providers. It makes a conclusion that there is an uneven sociospatial patterns of homelessness, relating to diverse poverty situation and provision of welfare services for the homeless by variable welfare policy among counties, Maryland.

The unexpected pandemic set off by the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has caused severe panic among people worldwide. COVID-19 has created havoc, and scientists and physicians are urged to test the efficiency and safety of drugs used to treat this disease. In such a pandemic situation, various steps have been taken by the government to control and prevent the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This pandemic situation has forced scientists to rework strategies to combat infectious diseases through drugs, treatment, and control measures. COVID-19 treatment requires both limiting viral multiplication and neutralizing tissue damage induced by an inappropriate immune reaction. Currently, various diagnostic kits to test for COVID-19 are available, and repurposing therapeutics for COVID-19 has shown to be clinically effective. As the global demand for diagnostics and therapeutics continues to rise, it is essential to rapidly develop various algorithms to successfully identify and contain the virus. This review discusses the updates on specimens/samples, recent efficient diagnostics, and therapeutic approaches to control the disease and repurposed drugs mainly focusing on chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine and convalescent plasma (CP). More research is required for further understanding of the influence of diagnostics and therapeutic approaches to develop vaccines and drugs for COVID-19.
