지하 전력구내 OF 케이블의 화염전파속도 특성 실험 (Experiment on the Characteristics of Surface Flame Propagating Velocity of Oil filled Cable in the Underground Utility)

  • Real-scale experimental study was performed to characterize the surface flame propagating velocity along the OF cable in the underground utility fire. Temperatures of oil filled OF cable and dried OF cable with the diameter of 90mn were measured using thermocouple and data log system. The hexane and alkyl-benzene oil were used as a fire source using the ignition device. As a result while the surface flame propagating velocity of the three cables was $0.06\~0.09cm/s$, the surface flame propagating velocity of the one cable was $0.028\~0.032cm/s$. Therefore, it was found that the surface propagating flame velocity of the three OF cables is $2.1\~2.8times$ faster than that of one OF cable case. The results show that the surface propagating flame velocity became larger as increase of the number of cable, the volume of alkyl-benzene oil in the cable. The characteristics of surface propagating flame velocity in the OF cable can be helpful to fire suppression system in utility.

초전도 전력케이블의 열 등가 회로에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Equivalent Thermal Circuit for HTS Power Cable)

  • To develop the thermal analysis method for the thermal behavior of HTS power cable system, cooled with sub-cooled liquid nitrogen, new thermo dynamic model for HTS cable system is introduced. The introduced thermal model is mainly modified from the thermal circuit following to IEC60287 for underground power cable systems such as XLPE or paper wrapped insulation cables. The thermal circuits for HTS cables are similar to the forced cooled underground cable system but the major thermal parameters and the configuration is apparently different to the normal cable systems so there has been no proposals in this field of analysing method. In this paper, 154kV HTS cable system has been introduced as an aspects of thermal models and a thermal circuit is proposed for the fundamentals on the dynamic rating systems for the HTS cable system. By using the thermal circuit developed in this paper, the optimal controls on the sub-cooling system's capacity become possible and it is expected to make the efficiency of HTS cable higher than conventional static controls.

  • Extensive development work which was carried out by Gold Star Cable Co., Ltd. has led to the optimal design, manufacture and test of fully engineered cable system for 345 kV self- contained oil filled (OF) underground cable. Details of design criteria and of tests are given. development of 345kV OF cable results in sucessful operations for ultra-high voltage power transmission requirement.

지중배전케이블의 서어지 전파특성 실증연구 (A Study on the Surge Propagation Property of Underground Distribution Cables by Field Tests)

  • 가공선로와 지중선로가 혼합된 배전계통에서 뇌서어지와 개폐서어지가 입상주를 통하여 유입될 수 있다. 이러한 서어지는 케이블을 따라서 이동하게 되고 케이블의 종단에서 반사된다. 이때 반사되는 서어지는 그 크기가 2배 정도가 되고 지중배전선로의 절연을 위협할 수 있다. 한전의 지중배전계통을 모의할 수 있는 모델계통을 만들고 이 계통에 서어지를 인가하여 케이블의 서어지 전파 특성을 측정하였다. 실제시험으로 측정한 결과를 EMTP 해석 결과와 비교하여 EMTP 파라미터들을 수정하였다. EMTP 해석에서 케이블 절연체의 유전율, 피뢰기의 특성곡선, 서어지의 파형을 조정하면 실증시험 결과와 거의 일치하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 케이블의 말단에서 2배 정도 전압상승이 되고 분기에 의하여 복잡하게 전파되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents the possible application of a HTS superconducting power cable fro transmitting electric power in metropolitan areas, reflecting its important distinction such as compactness for installation in underground ducts and considerable efficiency improvement comparable to present underground cables. In this paper, we investigated characteristic and market scale compact HTS transmission cable which is possible to install in under-ground ducts. and reviewed its economical efficiency comparing to present existed CV cable construction and duct or tunnel installation.

  • The insulation of cable which used for Ultra-High Voltage(UHV) underground power transmission requires excellent insulation capability for high voltage. The typical insulation materials are used XLPE, EPR, etc, but insulation efficiency of these is affected by void or alien substances, existed at the inside of insulators. In this paper, the partial discharge patterns of the defects within insulation cable are observed and analyzed. In this test, void, fiber and metal inclusions which possibly exist in cables, are simulated and investigated the patterns of partial discharges for each models Also the relations between calculated field strength and the insulation breakdown voltage. The experiment shows distinct partial discharge patterns in accordance with the kinds of defects within Insulation cable.

  • This paper describes sheath induced voltage and operating characteristic of cable cover protection unit(CCPU) in underground transmission cable. Real cable system operating by 154kV XLPE cable was modelled for simulation. Sheath induced voltage and operating characteristic of CCPU were analyzed. In particular, sheath induced voltage was analyzed in case of individual grounding and common grounding, respectively, and operating characteristics of CCPU were compared each other.

  • As power demand increases gradually, the call for underground transmission system increases. But it is very difficult and high in cost to construct new ducts and/or tunnels for power cables in metropolitan areas. HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable has the several useful characteristics such as increased power density. Therefore HTS cable can allow more power to be moved in existing ducts, which means very large economical and environmental benefits. In this paper, we investigate the status of korean power system and underground transmission system. Based on this, the feasibility study on applying 22kV class HTS cable to korean power system is carried out and then we propose the new power system configuration of metropolitan area with 22kV class HTS cable.
