New lubricant film of organic and inorganic composite resin was developed to improve the press formability of galvannealed steel sheets (GA) for automotive body panels. The frictional coefficient of lubricant GA steel sheets is about 20% superior to that of uncoated GA. The current range of spot welding of lubricant GA is similar to that of the uncoated GA, but the burning trace of spot welding is inferior to that of the uncoated GA in the oiling condition. The alkaline degreasability of lubricant GA shows 100% in alkaline degreasing condition of automotive company. The size and shape of the phosphated coating layer are similar to those of the uncoated GA sheet. The powdering property of the lubricant GA gives rise to 20∼50% improved property compared with the uncoated GA sheet.

Recently the usage of galvanealed steel sheet was increased in order to protect corrosion in automobile industry. So, the alternative of steel sheet was investigated in a point of formability. Generally it was known that uncoated steel sheet has better mechanical properties than coated steel sheet. But, contrary results were sometimes occurred in workplace. This reason is the effect of friction. In this study, the formability of steel sheet considering friction characteristics was investigated with tensile test, cup drawing test and finite element method.
The study objective was to evaluate the enhanced removal of high concentrations of phosphorus from synthetic wastewater (solely phosphorus-containing) and real wastewater (pig manure) by using carbon nanotube (CNT)-coated steel slag. Generally, phosphorus removal by steel slag is attributed to Ca2+ eluted from the slag. However, in this study, CNT was used to control the excess release of Ca2+ from steel slag and increase the phosphorus removal. The phosphorus removal rate by the uncoated steel slag was lower than that of the CNT-coated steel slag, even though the Ca2+ concentrations were higher in the solution containing the uncoated steel slag. Therefore, the phosphorus removal could be attributed to both precipitation with Ca2+ eluted from steel slag in aqueous solution and adsorption onto the surface of the CNT-coated steel slag. Furthermore, the protons released from the CNT surface by exchanging with divalent cations acted to reduce the pH increase of the solution, which is attributed to the OH- eluted from the steel slag. The adsorption isotherm and kinetics of the CNT-coated steel slags followed the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order model, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity of the uncoated and CNT-coated steel slags was 6.127 and 9.268 mg P g-1 slag, respectively. In addition, phosphorus from pig manure was more effectively removed by the CNT-coated steel slag than by the uncoated slag. Over 24 hours, the PO4-P removal in pig manure was 12.3% higher by the CNT-coated slag. This CNT-coated steel slag can be used to remove both phosphorus and metals and has potential applications in high phosphorus-containing wastewater like pig manure.

Tensile and anisotropy test were performed to evaluate the mechanical properties of coated and uncoated steel. These results were used to predict the deference of formability between two sheets. Cup-drawing test was performed to verify formability of two sheets. Also, Cup-drawing test could predict the coefficient of friction and the forming limit. Finite Element Method of cup-drawing was performed to assess the deference between two sheets considering frictional characteristics. This result was compared with the former results.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the bond strength and corrosion resistance of coated reinforcing bar using hybrid-type polymer cement slurry(PCS). PCS coated steels, which is made from two types of polymer dispersions such as St/BA and EVA are prepared, and tested for bond strength and various corrosion resistances such as autoclaved cure, carbonation and H2SO4 solution. From the test results, the bond strength of PCS coated reinforcing bar using ordinary portland cement at 1-5, 2-1 and 4-5 of mixes is higher than that of uncoated regular steel. However, bond strength of almost PCS coated reinforcing bars using ultra rapid high strength cement is higher than that of epoxy coated bar, is also in ranges of 102% to 123% compared to that of uncoated regular steel. In autoclaved accelerating test, the ratio of corrosion of uncoated regular steel is increased with the increase in NaCl content, but the corrosion of PCS coated steel was very small. In the acceleration test for carbonation, increasing the amount of NaCl the corrosion of coated steel did not produce. The corrosion of uncoated regular steel is increased with the increase in the amount of NaCl. It can be seen that the NaCl following the acceleration test for carbonation can lower the corrosion resistance of concrete. As a result, the corrosion of steel largely is affected by the acceleration curing, chloride ion penetration and carbonation and shown more severe corrosion by applying complex factors. These corrosions of steel can be suppressed by the coating of PCS.
The aim of this paper is to determine temperature and stress distributions in a ceramic based on Partially Stabilized Zirconia coated steel piston crown by using plasma spraying for improving performance of a marine diesel engine. Effects of coating constituent and thickness on temperature and stress distributions were investigated including comparisons with results from an uncoated piston by means of finite element method namely ANSYS. Temperature developed at the coated surface is significantly higher than that of the uncoated piston. The maximum stress components occur between bond coat and adjacent ceramic layer. Provided that coating thickness is constant as 0.5 mm, when numbers of layers increase, magnitude of the normal stress decrease about 34.1% on the base metal surface according to uncoated piston, but the base metal surface temperature of the steel piston increase about 13.1%.
The damage mechanism of $Cr_2O_3$ plasma coated soda-lime glass and uncoated glass by steel ball particle impact was analyzed in this study. And the shape variation of the cracks was investigated by stereo-microscope according to the impact velocity and steel ball diameter. In order to improve the damage reduction effect by $Cr_2O_3$ coating layer, crack size was measured and surface erosion state was observed for both of two kinds of specimen after impact experiment. And the results were compared with each other. The 4-point bending test was performed according to ASTM D790 testing method to evaluate the effect of coating layer for bending strength variation. As a result, it was found that the crack size of $Cr_2O_3$ coated specimen was smaller than that of uncoated one, because of the impact absorption by interior pores in the coating layer and the load dispersion by the structural characteristic of the coating layer. For the specimens subjected to the steel ball impact, the bending strength of coated specimen was higher than that of uncoated specimen.
The corrosion durability of steel bridge coatings, such as organic and metallic coatings, is often evaluated by field exposure tests, but such tests take from several years to decades to complete. As a potential method for fast corrosion testing, accelerated exposure tests were considered in this study. The S6-cycle accelerated exposure test, specified in the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS K5621), was carried out on uncoated structural steels for 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days, and the resultant weight loss was determined. The weight loss was compared with that obtained from previous field exposure tests, and acceleration factors of the S6-cycle test to field exposure test sites were determined. The application of the S6-cycle accelerated exposure tests to field environments was presented based on the acceleration factor and the amount of flying salt.
Laser welding process is widely used in the industrial field due to its numerous advantages: a small heat affected zone(HAZ), deep penetration, high welding speed, ease of automation, single-pass thick section capability, enhanced design flexibility, and small distortion after welding. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding fur metals with CW Nd:YAG lasers. The bead-on-plate and Lap welding experiments are carried out for several combinations of the experimental conditions. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the welding quality of the cross section, tensile stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated in comparison of the Nickel coated and Nickel uncoated S45C steel. As a result of experiment, nickel coated S45C Steel showed more even weld zone than Nickel uncoated counterpart upon lap welding. Also, it showed relatively small amount of internal defects and spatter, and Nickel coated S45C showed better weldability than Nickel uncoated S45C steel. The optimum welding process upon lap welding of Nickel coated S45C steel is when each laser power is 1900W; focal positions is -1mm; welding speed is $0.9{\sim}1.0m/min$. The heat input was $4.178{\sim}4.36{\times}103J/cm^2$.
Although an uncoated CFT column with a high axial-force ratio can be used to secure fire resistance for two hours or less in low-rise buildings, it does not satisfy the three-hour-long fire resistance required in high-rise buildings. Accordingly, so that the uncoated CFT column could be used for high-rise buildings, additional measures for the improvement of its fire resistance should be proposed. In this regard, the use of a Double CFT column as a measure for improving the fire resistance of the uncoated CFT column was proposed in this paper. A fire resistance test was conducted on an uncoated CFT column and a Double CFT column in real scale, under a load. Through such test, the effect of the Double CFT column on fire resistance was evaluated and then compared with that of a variant shape of the cross-section of a steel column.
