  • When robot manipulatros as mathematically modeled. uncetainties may not be avoided. The uncertain factors come from imperfect knowledge of system parameters, payload change. friction, external disturbance and etc. In this work, we proposed a class of robust hybrid control of manipulatosrs. We propose a class of expanded robust hybrid control with the separated bound function and the simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

  • Today's construction is more various and more complex. Because of that, a lot of uncertain factors are occurred and they related uncertain construction duration. For management complex architecture project, importance of construction schedule management also increased. In previous studies, one of solutions to overcome those problems is suggested. It was BIM based construction simulation process which focused on construction schedule and construction schedule management. But latest process had limited point which has no duration estimation function. So this paper suggested duration estimation method and developed duration estimation module. Duration estimation module developed with current scheduling tool MS Project and their macro function. However, this module has just developed Reinforced Concrete Structure and has to do more development and research.

  • Purpose: Marketing networks are essential for firms to gain new information and resources, yet their effect on innovation performance under uncertainty remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the effects of technological and demand variability on the innovation performance of first-tier suppliers, considering different levels of structural holes. It particularly explores how structural holes moderate the relationship between uncertain factors and innovation performance. Research design, data and methodology: To assess the hypotheses, a survey was conducted with the first-tier suppliers. The survey targeted internal networks and the relationships between manufacturers, suppliers, and subsuppliers. Structural equation modeling was employed to validate the hypotheses using measures from previous research. Results: The findings indicate that the impact of technological uncertainty and demand variability on innovation performance varies based on the extent of structural holes in the network. Conclusions: This study provides both theoretical and practical insights for distribution channels, highlighting the competitive advantage of interfirm networks in uncertain conditions. However, the focus on the engineering industry may limit the generalizability of the findings. Future research should explore a broader range of industries to improve result applicability.

  • Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy among males worldwide, and is the second leading cause of cancer death among men in United States. According to GLOBOCAN (2012), an estimated 1.1 million new cases and 307,000 deaths were reported in 2012. The reasons for the increase of this disease are not known, but increasing life expectancy and modified diagnostic techniques have been suggested as causes. The established risk factors for this disease are advancing age, race, positive family history of prostate cancer and western diet (use of fat items). Several other risk factors, such as obesity, physical activity, sexual activity, smoking and occupation have been also associated with prostate cancer risk, but their roles in prostate cancer etiology remain uncertain. This mini-review aims to provide risk factors, disease knowledge, prevalence and awareness about prostate cancer.

  • Very important content in performance evaluation of machine tool is positioning accuracy and repeatability precision measurements of feed mechanism. A study analyses the measurement method and uncertainty factors by ISO-based test method. Reliable results can't be derived without the notion of measurement uncertainty. The reason is that the measured value includes a lot of uncertain factors. Finding the factor that affects the measurement of parameter is important for estimation of measurement precision. In this paper, the evaluation of uncertainty analysis about positioning accuracy and repeatability precision measurements of high precision feed mechanism is presented to evaluate the important factors of uncertainty.

  • Learning agility as high potentials is drawing attention as a competency for leading an uncertain future society. The present study aims to determine the factors of learning agility in higher education context for future society. To address this goal, Major factors related to learning agility were derived through literature review and statistically verified. For statistical analysis, the nationwide data were collected from 1,000 undergraduate students in South Korea by National Youth Policy Institute. The participants asked to answer 29 items of learning agility questionnaires (LAQ). The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. As a result, learning agility items were verified normality and reliability. Learning agility was identified seven factors; challenging mind, learning responsibility, reflecting experience, intellectual curiosity, systemic thinking, change adaptability, and logical thinking. Also, the structural model fit of the seven factors of learning agility was also confirmed to be good. Based on the findings of the present study, empirical, theoretical, and practical contributions were presented, and suggestions for further research were proposed in detail.

  • This study aims to establish a methodology for rational fire risk assessment for building evacuation safety in case of fire, and specifically, to propose a fire risk assessment technique using fire scenarios considering various uncertain factors in case of fire. In order to analyze the extent to which the assumed conditions can occur, that is, the probability of each accident caused by fire, the safety rate is analyzed according to the presence or absence of each factor by using fire statistics. Factors related to the fire protection performance and evacuation ability of buildings are defined as disaster factors. In this study, disaster factors were classified into the following three categories.

  • In the earlier days, when the diesel engine was used for ship propulsion, its shaft had often been broken by uncertain causes. Bauer suggested, for the first time in 1900, that it resulted from the torsional vibration of the shaft system. From 1901 to 1902, Gumbel and Frahm found out that shaft failures were caused by the resonance of the shaft system in critical speed. Since that time, valuable theories, empirical formulae and methods of vibration analysis were introduced by many investigators such as Geiger, Holzer, Lewis, Carter, Porter, Constant, Timoshenko, Dorey, Den Hartog, Tuplin, Ker Wilson, Bradbury etc. But, as the calculation of the damping energy involves very complicated and uncertain factors, the estimated amplitude of the torsional vibration is incorrect and uncertain. Besides, as high-powered engines have been installed on large vessels or special vessels and exciting force has been increased, new problems of the torsional vibration have continuously occurred. Although we can calculate the approximate natural frequencies or estimate their amplitude and additional stress in the design stage, through the above mentioned studies, the results of the calculations are unsatisfactory, and so much time is needed to carry out the calculation by hand. The authors have developed a computer program to calculate its natural frequencies, the amplitudes and additional stresses of the torsional vibration in the marine diesel engine shafting. In developing the computer program, the authors have paid the special attention to the calculation of the damping energy. To verify the reliability of the developed computer program, the torsional vibration of several propulsion shaftings which are driven by the diesel engine has been analyzed. The results calculted by the authors' computer program show good agreements with those of the actual measurements and are better than the results of engine maker's calculation.

  • The optimal assignment problem between agents and tasks is known as one of the representative problems of combinatorial optimization and an NP-hard problem. This paper covers multi agent-multi task assignment problems with uncertain completion probability. The completion probabilities are generally uncertain due to endogenous (agent or task) or exogenous factors in the system. Assignment decisions without considering uncertainty can be ineffective in a real situation that has volatility. To consider uncertain completion probability mathematically, a mathematical formulation with stochastic programming is illustrated. We also present an algorithm by using the sample average approximation method to solve the problem efficiently. The algorithm can obtain an assignment decision and the upper and lower bounds of the assignment problem. Through numerical experiments, we present the optimality gap and the variance of the gap to confirm the performances of the results. This shows the excellence and robustness of the assignment decisions obtained by the algorithm in the problem with uncertainty.

  • Refuse incineration plant operations involve many kinds of uncertain factors, such as the variable physical properties of refuse as fuel and the complexity of the burning phenomenon. That makes it very difficult to apply conventional control methods to the combustion control of the refuse. In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy model predictive controller is proposed for the combustion control of the refuse. And computer simulation was carried out to evaluate performance of the proposed controller.
