  • Paracentric inversion of chromosome 18 is a rare cytogenetic abnormality. The vast majority of paracentric inversions are harmless and the offspring of paracentric inversion carriers have only slightly elevated risks for unbalanced karyotypes. However, various clinical phenotypes are seen due to breakpoint variation or recombination. We report a prenatally detected case of familial paracentric inversion of chromosome 18, inv(18)(q21.1q22), with normal clinical features.

  • Pericentric inversion is not rare in humans and is usually benign. However, pericentric inversion can lead to production of an unbalanced recombinant and might be a cause of repetitive pregnancy loss. Pericentric inversion of chromosome 22 is rare and only a few cases have been reported. We report a case of inv(22)(p13q12) carrier who had history of repetitive pregnancy loss including three spontaneous abortions and one fetal hydrops in which the chromosomal complement was rec(22)dup(22q) inv(22)(p13q12)mat. The maternal inv(22) and fetal rec(22) were confirmed by fluorescence in situ hybridization using region-specific probes (TUPLE1 on 22q11.2 and ARSA on 22q13). Because the identification of inv(22) or rec(22) in conventional karyotyping might be easily overlooked, great attention and additional molecular tests are required for accurate diagnosis of inv(22) and rec(22).

  • Networks showing often and short stable voltage inversion negative immittance converter(VNIC) characteristics are proposed by simplified equivalent model. Open stable VNIC characteristics can be obtained of controlling the base voltage of common base connection according to output voltage and short stable VNIC characteristics according to input dotage. An unbalanced circuit showing open and short stable characteristics is constructed and ana1ysis. The experimental results are coincident with the calculated within 10% error.

  • The long arm duplication of chromosome 3 was reported for the first time in 1966 by Falek et al., and Hirschhorn et al. came to identify the duplication of 3q21${\rightarrow}$qter region in 1973. In most cases of duplication 3q syndrome patients, pure duplication of 3qter is believed to be rare and is often reported accompanied with deletion of another segment of the chromosome. Approximately 75 percent of parents of the patient in the meantime have been demonstrated to have unbalanced translocations or inversions of the chromosome. Partial deletion of the distal part of the short arm of chromosome 3 was first reported by Verjaal and De Nef in 1978 and terminal deletion of chromosome 3 (3p25-qter) has been observed in most cases. In karyotyping of chromosomes of immature infants showing the manifestations of flat occiputs, low set ears, hypertelorism, broad nasal roots, thin lips, web necks, hypotonia, hypertrichosis skin, cryptorchidism etc, we experienced a case diagnosed as 46,XY, rec(3)dup(3)(q21)del(3)(p25)inv(3)(p25q21).

  • For "generic" multivariate public key cryptography (MPKC) systems, experts believe that the Unbalanced Oil-Vinegar (UOV) scheme is a feasible signature scheme with good efficiency and acceptable security. In this paper, we address two problems that are to find inversion solution of quadratic multivariate equations and find another structure with some random Oil-Oil terms for UOV, then propose a novel signature scheme based on hyper-sphere (HS-Sign for short) which directly answers these two problems. HS-Sign is characterized by its adding Oil-Oil terms and more advantages compared to UOV. On the one side, HS-Sign is based on a new inversion algorithm from hyper-sphere over finite field, and is shown to be a more secure UOV-like scheme. More precisely, according to the security analysis, HS-Sign achieves higher security level, so that it has larger security parameters choice ranges. On the other side, HS-Sign is beneficial from both the key side and computing complexity under the same security level compared to many baseline schemes. To further support our view, we have implemented 5 different attack experiments for the security analysis and we make comparison of our new scheme and the baseline schemes with simulation programs so as to show the efficiencies. The results show that HS-Sign has exponential attack complexity and HS-Sign is competitive with other signature schemes in terms of the length of the message, length of the signature, size of the public key, size of the secret key, signing time and verification time.

  • The estimations of variance components for the unbalanced one way random effects model when the underlying distributions are not necessarily normal are considered. ANOVA, REML, ML, MIVQUE, and MINQE estimators are compared with respect to their mean squared errors and biases through a simulation study. Explicit, computable expressions with no matrix inversion necessary are given for these estimators. An efficient rule to provide a prior guess of MINQE is given. Our results indicate that the efficiency of MINQE is excellent for arbitrary underlying distribution in the sense of MSE even in the presence of nontrivial bias. Also, MINQE is a worthwhile improvement over other estimators when kurtosis of underlying distributions become large 1.
