초고강도강판 프레스성형용 금형의 CrN 코팅층 마모수명 예측 (Wear Life Prediction of CrN Coating Layer on the Press Tool for Stamping the Ultra High Strength Steel Sheet)

  • In this study, a wear test method was proposed to predict the wear life of the CrN layer coated on the surface of the press tools for manufacturing the auto-parts with ultra high strength steel (UHSS) with a tensile strength of 1.5 GPa. The pin-on-disc type wear test was carried out to confirm the feasibility and the reproducibility of the wear amount according to the test conditions such as the normal force, the sliding velocity, and the sliding speed. The test conditions were obtained from the finite element stamping analysis and the wear simulation. With the wear amount from the wear test, a prediction model of the wear depth in the CrN coating layer was proposed according to the test conditions with the design of experiments such as Taguchi method and the response surface method. The derived prediction model was then compared to the result of the Archard wear model, fully describing that the proposed model can effectively predict the wear life of the press tools for the auto-parts with UHSS.

  • The manual modification of stamping die has widely been used in order to reduce springback after sheet metal forming. When UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) is used in sheet metal forming, the die design considering springback compensation is more difficult because higher strength sheet has more springback. In this study, the optimization method was used in order to design die geometry considering springback compensation after forming of 1.2GPa UHSS. Die geometries were defined as design variables and the springback distance from the die surface was conducted as object function in optimization process. The optimized die geometry considering springback compensation was performed using finite element and optimization analysis. The simulation results such as thickness distribution and springback amount were compared with measured data using 3D optical measurement system (GOM ARGUS, ATOS). And the prediction of springback amount showed a good agreement within test results.

스프링백 저감을 위한 초고강도강의 국부적 연화 열처리에 따른 미세조직과 기계적 특성 변화에 관한 연구 (Effect of Local Softening for Spring-back Reduction of Ultra High Strength Steel on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties)

  • In order to improve excessive spring-back behavior as a result of the roll forming process using ultra high strength steel (UHSS) sheet, local softening in region of a partial area expected to be deformed on an initial blank is considered in this study. With SPFC1470 UHSS sheet with initial blank thickness of 1.20mm, the local softening is performed with the following conditions: temperatures of 500℃, 550℃, 600℃ and 650℃, and holding time of 20s, 40s, 80s and 160s. Mechanical properties, such as yield stress and tensile strength, as well as elongation, are evaluated through uniaxial tensile tests, while the microstructural characteristics as a result of local softening are also investigated using the heat-treated specimens. As a result, it is shown that the spring-back behavior of the roll-formed prototype was reduced about by 78.9%, when the local softening at about 500℃ was performed for 160s considering the practical manufacturing condition.

자동차용 1500MPa급 초고강도강의 레이저 용접 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Laser Welding Characteristics of 1500MPa Grade Ultra High Strength Steel for Automotive Application)

  • In this study, fundamental experiment was conducted with various strength of UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) by $CO_2$ laser. And then, butt and lap joint laser welding with boron alloyed steel and Al-Si coated boron alloy steel have been done by changing laser beam feature, existence of gap and existence of coating layer to know welding characteristics of those materials. As a result, in case of fundamental experiment with various strength steel, hardening was found in the weld metal of all tested materials and softening was found at the heat affected zone of SGAFC 1180. In case of laser butt welding of UHSS, mechanical properties was improved by using small laser beam diameter and Al-Si coating layer caused fracture of weld metal. In case of laser lap welding of UHSS, Al-Si coating layer resulted in formation of intermetallic compound at the fusion boundary where fracture occurred. Al-Si coating layer caused lowering mechanical properties of weld metal.

Shear behavior of a demountable bolted connector in steel-UHPC lightweight composite structures

  • Bolted connector could be an alternative to replace the conventional welded headed stud in steel-ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) lightweight composite structures. In this paper, a novel demountable bolted shear connector, consisting of a high-strength bolt (HSB) and a specially-designed nut which is pre-embedded in a thin UHPC slab, is proposed, which may result in the quick installation and disassembly, due to the mountable, demountable and reusable features. In order to study the shear behavior of the new type of bolted shear connector, static push-out tests were conducted on five groups of the novel demountable bolted shear connector specimens and one group of conventional welded headed stud specimen for comparison. The effect of the bolt shank diameter and aspect ratio of bolt on failure mode, shear stiffness, peak slip at the steel-UHPC interface, shear strength and ductility of novel bolted connectors is investigated. Additionally, design formula for the shear strength is proposed to check the suitability for assessment of the novel demountable bolted shear connectors.

UHPC를 활용한 건축용 외장 패널 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Exterior Panel Properties using Ultra High Performance Concrete)

  • 초고성능 콘크리트(UHPC)는 낮은 물-바인더비(W/B), 고성능 감수제(SP), 혼화재 및 강섬유(Steel Fiber)의 혼입으로 일반 콘크리트보다 유동성, 강도 등에서 월등히 우수한 성능을 지닌 건설 재료이다. 본 연구에서는 UHPC를 활용하여 기존의 석재 패널을 대체할 수 있는 건축용 외장 패널을 제작하였다. 또한, UHPC의 W/B비 배합별 동일한 혼화제 투입량, 충전재의 혼입량, 소포제 및 강섬유 혼입 유무의 차이로 변수를 가지고 실험을 진행하였다. 평가 항목으로는 콘크리트 압축강도, 휨강도, 충격강도, 흡수율, 내동해성 등 물성 및 내구성 테스트를 진행하였다. 실험결과, 압축강도 최대 115.5MPa, 휨강도 20.3MPa을 확보하였으며 흡수율 1%이내, 충격강도 및 내동해성 평가는 규격 내 겉보기 관찰 결과 이상 없음 결과를 만족하였다.

하이브리드 강섬유 보강 초고성능 콘크리트의 압축거동 (Compressive Behavior of Hybrid Steel Fiber Reinforced Ultra-High Performance Concrete)

  • 이 연구에서는 강섬유 혼입률에 따른 초고성능 강섬유 보강 콘크리트(UHPC)의 압축거동에 관한 연구를 수행하였으며, 실험결과를 바탕으로 강섬유 보강 콘크리트의 압축강도와 탄성계수를 제안하였다. 지름 100 mm, 높이 200 mm의 원주형 공시체에는 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 그리고 2%의 강섬유가 혼입되었다. 실험에 사용된 UHPC는 굵은골재를 사용하지 않았으며, 16 mm와 19 mm의 강섬유가 일정비율로 혼입된 하이브리드 강섬유가 사용되었다. 실험결과, UHPC의 압축강도와 탄성계수는 강섬유 혼입률에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 실험결과를 바탕으로 강섬유 보강 콘크리트의 압축강도와 탄성계수가 제안되었다. 강섬유 보강 콘크리트의 압축강도는 무보강 콘크리트의 압축강도의 함수로 제안되었으며, 탄성계수는 강섬유 보강 콘크리트의 압축강도의 함수로 제안하였다. 기존 실험값과 비교한 결과 제안된 압축강도와 탄성계수는 실험값을 비교적 잘 예측하는 것으로 나타났으며, 압축강도가 35~235 MPa인 강섬유 보강 콘크리트에 적용가능 할 것으로 판단된다.

980MPa급 열연 후판재 버링 공정의 변수 최적화 연구 (Study on the Optimization of Parameters for Burring Process Using 980MPa Hot-rolled Thick Sheet Metal)

  • Currently, starting with electric vehicles, the application of ultra-high-strength steel sheets and light metals has expanded to improve mileage by reducing vehicle weight. At a time when internal combustion engine vehicles are rapidly changing to electric vehicles, the application of ultra-high-strength steel is expanding to satisfy both weight reductions and the performance safety of the chassis parts. There is an urgent need to improve the quality of parts without defects. It is particularly difficult to estimate the part formability through the finite element method (FEM) in the burring operation, so product design has been based on the hole expansion ratio (HER) and experience. In this study, design of experiment (DOE), analysis of variance (ANOVA), and regression analysis were combined to optimize the formability by adjusting the process variables affecting the burring formability of ultra-high-strength steel parts. The optimal variables were derived by analyzing the influence of variables and the correlation between the variables through FE analysis. Finally, the optimized process parameters were verified by comparing experiment with simulation. As for the main influence of each process variable, the initial hole diameter of the piercing process and the shape height of the preforming process had the greatest effects on burring formability, while the effect of a lower round of punching in the burring process was the least. Moreover, as the diameter of the initial hole increased, the thickness reduction rate in the burring part decreased, and the final burring height increased as the shape height during preforming increased.

강섬유 보강 초고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨강도 예측기법의 제안 (Prediction of Flexural Capacity of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Ultra High Strength Concrete Beams)

  • 이 연구에서는 강섬유보강 초고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨강도를 산정하기 위한 실제적인 기법을 제시하였다. 14개의 보 부재에 대해 휨실험을 수행하여 휨거동 특성을 분석하였으며, 실험결과를 기존의 설계기준 및 제안기법에 의한 예측결과와 비교 분석하였다. ACI 544 위원회의 휨강도 제안식에 의한 예측값은 실험값을 과소평가하고 있으며, 이는 인장응력블록을 너무 작게 산정하기 때문이다. 인장응력블록을 정밀하게 모델링하기 위하여 노치를 갖는 프리즘 시편의 3점 휨인장실험자료의 역해석을 수행하였으며, 역해석을 통해 산정한 인장연화곡선을 인장응력블록 모델링에 적용하였다. 휨강도 실험값에 대한 제안기법에 의한 예측값의 비는 0.98~1.14를 나타내고 있다. 따라서, 이 연구에서의 제안기법은 강섬유보강 초고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨강도를 더욱 정확하게 예측할 수 있다고 판단된다.

Experimental and theoretical studies of confined HSCFST columns under uni-axial compression

  • The development of modern concrete technology makes it much easier to produce high-strength concrete (HSC) or ultra-high-strength concrete (UHSC) with high workability. However, the application of this concrete is limited in practical construction of traditional reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to low-ductility performance. To further push up the limit of the design concrete strength, concrete-filled-steel-tube (CFST) columns have been recommended considering its superior strength and ductility performance. However, the beneficial composite action cannot be fully developed at early elastic stage as steel dilates more than concrete and thereby reducing the elastic strength and stiffness of the CFST columns. To resolve this problem, external confinement in the form of steel rings is proposed in this study to restrict the lateral dilation of concrete and steel. In this paper, a total of 29 high-strength CFST (HSCFST) columns of various dimensions cast with concrete strength of 75 to 120 MPa concrete and installed with external steel rings were tested under uni-axial compression. From the results, it can be concluded that the proposed ring installation can further improve both strength and ductility of HSCFST columns by restricting the column dilation. Lastly, an analytical model calculating the uni-axial strength of ring-confined HSCFST columns is proposed and verified based on the Von-Mises and Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria for steel tube and in-filled concrete, respectively.
