  • In ultra-low field magnetic resonance imaging (ULF-MRI), the strength of a static magnetic field can be comparable to that of gradient field. On that occasion, the gradient field is accompanied by concomitant gradient field, which yields distortion and blurring artifacts on MR images. Here, we focused on the distortion artifact and derived the equations capable of correcting it. Its usefulness was confirmed through the corrections in both simulated and experimental images. This solution will be effective for acquiring more accurate images in low and/or ultra-low magnetic fields.

  • An Ultra low power super-regenerative oscillator was implemented with on-chip inductor and quench signal generator. The super-regenerative oscillator detects the signal level as low as -70dBm while consuming only 0.48mA at 1.5V supply voltage. These results indicate that the super-regenerative oscillator can be outstanding candidate the simple, ultra low power receiver design.

  • This study was performed to investigate a methodology of improving immune activities of Berberis koreana Palibin by ultra high pressure on low temperature extraction process. Extraction yield was enhanced up to more than 35% by above process, compare to the control and extraction average. The cytotoxicity on human kidney cell (HEK293) was showed below 20.4%, 21.6% in adding 1.0 mg/ml of the highest concentration. Generally, the extracts by ultra high pressure extraction process showed less toxicity about 5% than the other processes. It could tell that toxic materials that existing in the plant could be reduced or broken by ultra high pressure process due to can be broken bond such the hydrogen bond, the electrostatic bond, the van der Waals bond, and the hydrophobic bond, can be broken by high pressure. The result could be employed to develop a new type of functional food from B. koreana Palibin by low temperature high pressure process.

  • It is necessary to minimize the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer and to improve the coverage of inner electrode, for the purpose of developing the ultra high-capacity multi layered ceramic capacitor (MLCC). Thus, low temperature sintering of dielectric $BaTiO_3$ ceramic should be precedently investigated. In this work, the relationship between dielectric properties of MLCC and batch condition such as mixing and milling methods was investigated in the $BaTiO_3$(BT)-Dy-Mg-Ba system with borosilicate glass as a sintering agent. In addition, several chip properties of MLCC manufactured by low temperature sintering were compared with conventionally manufactured MLCC. It was found that low temperature sintered MLCC showed better DC-bias property and lower aging rate. It was also confirmed that the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer became thinner and the coverage of inner electrode was improved through low temperature sintering.

  • In this paper, novel device structures in order to realize ultra fast and ultra small silicon devices are investigated using ultra-high vacuum chemical vapor deposition(UHVCVD) and Excimer Laser Annealing (ELA). Based on these fundamental technologies for the deep sub-micron device, high speed and low power devices can be fabricated. These junction formation technologies based on damage-free process for replacing of low energy ion implantation involve solid phase diffusion and vapor phase diffusion. As a result, ultra shallow junction depths by ELA are analyzed to 10~20nm for arsenic dosage(2${\times}$10$\_$14//$\textrm{cm}^2$), exciter laser source(λ=248nm) is KrF, and sheet resistances are measured to 1k$\Omega$/$\square$ at junction depth of 15nm and realized sub-50nm n-MOSFET.

  • To realize remote surgery from hundreds of kilometers away, a new communication environment with ultra-low latency and high-precision features is required. Thus, ultra-high precision networking technology that guarantees the maximum latency and jitter of end-to-end traffic on an Internet-scale wide area network is in development as part of 6G network research. This paper describes the current status of various networking technologies in ITU-T, ETSI, IEEE, and IETF to ensure ultra-low latency and high precision in wired networks.

  • A novel ultra-low-power readout circuit for a pH-sensitive ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET) is proposed. It uses an ISFET/reference FET (REFET) differential pair operating in weak-inversion and a simple current-mode metal-oxide semiconductor FET (MOSFET) translinear circuit. Simulation results verify that the circuit operates with excellent common-mode rejection ability and good linearity for a single pH range from 4 to 10, while only 4 nA is drawn from a single 1 V supply voltage.

  • A new method to design a low distortion, even relative illumination, optical see-through head-mounted display (HMD) with a freeform reflective mirror (FFRM) based on the two similar ellipsoids structure is proposed. The HMD we have realized has a simple structure which consists of two similar ellipsoid surfaces, an FFRM, a 7-piece co-axis relay lens, and an OLED. This structure can be applied to offset distortion, reach even relative illumination, and correct the off-axis aberrations. The HMD we finally have realized has a near 3% low distortion, a higher than 80% relative illumination, and a 40°×30° field of view (FOV).

  • The measurement of ultra low aspect ratio fluid film thickness is very crucial technique both for the verification of lubrication media characteristics and for the clearance design in many precision components such as MEMS, precision bearings and other slideways. Many technologies are applied to the measurement of ultra low aspect ratio fluid film thickness (i.e. elastohydrodynamic lubrication film thickness). In particular, in-situ optical interferometric method has many advantages in making the actual contact behaviors realized with the experimental apparatus. This measurement method also does the monitoring of the surface defects and fractures happening during the contact behavior, which are delicately influenced by the surface conditions such as load, velocity, lubricant media as well as surface roughness. Careful selection of incident lights greatly enhances the fringe resolutions up to $\~1.0$ nanometer scale with digital image processing technology. In this work, it is found that coaxial aligning trichromatic incident light filtering system developed by the author can provide much finer resolution of ultra low aspect ratio fluid film thickness than monochromatic or dichromatic incident lights, because it has much more spectrums of color components to be discriminated according the variations of film thickness. For the measured interferometric images of ultra low aspect ratio fluid film thickness it is shown how the film thickness is finely digitalized and measured in nanometer scale with digital image processing technology and space layer method. The developed measurement system can make it possible to visualize the contact deformations and possible fractures of contacting surface under the repeated loading condition.

  • By adopting a 2D time-dependent wave code, we investigate how mode-converted waves at the Ion-Ion Hybrid (IIH) resonance and compressional waves propagate in 2D density structures with a wide range of field-aligned wavenumbers to background magnetic fields. The simulation results show that the mode-converted waves have continuous bands across the field line consistent with previous numerical studies. These waves also have harmonic structures in frequency domain and are localized in the field-aligned heavy ion density well. Our results thus emphasize the importance of a field-aligned heavy ion density structure for ultra-low frequency wave propagation, and suggest that IIH waves can be localized in different locations along the field line.
