Motor drive control development: a new approach to learning and design

  • This paper presents an intuitive and powerful way to study and design motor drive control. The control of induction motors, as most widely used machines, is discussed. Thanks to ultra low latency and high fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, different aspects of up-to-date drive regulation are examined. A power stage, comprised of a grid voltage source, a rectifier, a VSC inverter and an induction motor, is emulated on the HIL platform in real time. A digital signal controller is plugged into the interface board and connected to the HIL emulation platform, without any hardware modifications. For motor control and power electronics applications, a dedicated Texas Instruments TMS320F2808 DSP is chosen. The same controller can drive an emulation platform and a real device with no modifications. Current and speed control loop test results are presented and discussed.

태풍의 피크기에 관한 분석 연구 (Analytical Study on the Peak Stage of Typhoons)

  • 10년간(2002~2011년)의 기상 자료를 이용하여 태풍의 피크기에 대하여 분석하였다. 이 연구의 주요 목적은 태풍의 피크기에 대한 특성및 경향을 선박의 항해자에게 제공하는 데에 있다. 총 221개의 태풍에 대하여 분석한 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 최대풍속 20~29m/s와 40~49m/s의 태풍이 각각 전체 태풍의 25%와 24%를 차지하고, 최대풍속 50m/s 이상의 초강력 태풍도 24%를 차지한다. 열대저기압 발생 후 피크기에 도달하는 평균 일 수는 3.6일이고, 열대 폭풍으로 발달한 후 피크기에 도달하는 평균 일 수는 2.1일이다. 대부분의 태풍에서 피크기가 유지되는 기간은 2일 이내이고, 피크기의 평균 유지 시간은 31시간이다. 태풍의 피크기가 주로 출현하는 위도대는 북위 15~25도, 동경 120~140도이다. 이 위험 해역은 서쪽에 타이완과 필리핀이 위치하고 동쪽으로는 광대한 북태평양이 펼쳐져 있는 해양 환경적 특성을 보인다. 이 해역을 항해하는 선박의 항해자는 각별한 주의를 요한다. 초강력 태풍은 9월에 가장 많이 발생하고, 마찬가지로 북위 15~25도, 동경 120~140도 해역에서 주로 피크기가 나타난다.

초대형 부유식 해양구조물 탑재 플로팅 도크 계류안전성 연구 (Study on the Mooring Stability of Floating Dock with Ultra Large Offshore Structure)

  • Mooring stability of floating dock for construction of Ichthys CPF (central processing facilities), an ultra large offshore structure, was studied. Normal and typhoon conditions were considered for mooring analysis. There have been changes in construction stages of the CPF as project progresses. These changes were reflected on the mooring stability analysis for both conditions. In order to secure the mooring stability of the floating dock for Ichthys CPF under typhoon, maximum loads of mooring chains and maximum offset of the floating dock with Ichthys CPF were examined. Also the shapes of the catenary mooring were investigated to check interferences among mooring chains. As it was confirmed that the mooring loads were within SWL (safe working load) of mooring chains and underwater sinkers, the mooring stability of the floating dock for construction of Ichthys CPF was secured. By achieving security of mooring stability of the floating dock, it is assured that Ichthys project is on its way to success.

극한환경조건에 대한 프릴루드 FLNG 안벽계류시스템 설계 (Quayside Mooring System Design of Prelude FLNG for Extreme Environmental Condition)

  • The design and analysis of a quayside mooring system for safe mooring of Prelude FLNG under extreme environmental conditions were carried out. The design of the mooring system considered the yard operation conditions and maximum wind speed during a typhoon. In order to secure the mooring safety of Prelude FLNG under an extreme environment, a special steel structure was designed between the quay and Prelude FLNG to maintain the distance from the quay to a certain extent to avoid a collision with the inclined base. The mooring safety was also ensured by installing additional new parts on the quay. A mooring analysis and mooring safety review were performed with more rigorous modeling considering the nonlinearity of the mooring rope and fender. In order to secure additional safety of the mooring system under extreme environmental conditions, a safety assessment was conducted on the failures of the mooring components proposed in the marine mooring guidelines. Based on the results of the mooring analysis, it was confirmed that the Prelude FLNG can be safely moored even under the extreme conditions of typhoons, and a worst case scenario analysis verified that the mooring system design was robust enough. The proposed mooring analysis and design method will provide a basis for the safe mooring of ultra-large floating offshore structures of similar size in the future.
