  • Recently, the concept of ubiquitous learning which is regarded as so-called "beyond e-learning" has received remarkable interest along with the new social paradigm, namely, ubiquitous environment. The ubiquitous learning which is believed to lead educational renovation through information technology is recognized as the vision of future education. This paper intends to introduce the general ideas of ubiquitous learning and the present situation.

  • In this paper we are investigating how ubiquitous revolution in knowledge society changes the education system. By the help of ubiquitous computing and networking techniques we estimates the configuration of e-teaming in the age of knowledge -based society, and we examines Education Model with e-teaming and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) at e-School. We also suggest the feasible design of the e-School and a Blended-learning scheme based on cooperative education as a way of teaching Education.

  • This study is to analyze the implications of effective learning in a ubiquitous environment. Research proceeded according to the multiple case study analysis method. This paper is one result of the Korean case study to examine the effectiveness of and satisfaction with u-learning. We will introduce necessary conditions for effective learning in a ubiquitous environment. Each condition was elicited through the case study, and the analyzing framework was classified into hardware related to infra structure; software such as learning contents, teaching-learning activity and support, and class management; human-ware related to learner and teacher; system-ware as an education system, and administrative supporting.

  • According to develop the computer and communication technology, recently educational environment is growing to ubiquitous learning with direction which select the studying content, studying time and a studying order oneself. In order to raise effect of studying in the ubiquitous learning(u-Learning), the help or advice of the specialist is necessary earnestly. Accordingly, if it will combine the scaffolding and the mentoring in the u-Learning, a studying effect will be maximize. This paper design the u-SM(Scaffolding and Mentoring) teaching and learning model which applies the scaffolding and e-mentoring. In addition, it embodies and applies the designed u-SM model. Then it examines it affects in studying achievements and attitudes of students and verifies the application possibility of the u-SM teaching and learning.

  • This paper presents a model of ubiquitous learning environment system based on the concepts of ubiquitous computing technology that enables learning to take place anywhere at anytime. This ubiquitous learning environment is described as an environment-friendly learning scheme that supports students' learning using digital media in geographically distributed environments. The u-learning model is a web-based e-learning system that could enable learners to acquire knowledge and skills through interaction between them and the ubiquitous learning environment. Education is happening all around the student but the student may not even be conscious of the learning process. Source data is present in the embedded objects and students do not have to do anything in order to learn. The communication between devices and the embedded computers in the environment allows learners to learn in an environment of their interest while they are moving, hence, attaching them to their learning environment.

  • As e-learning studying is activated, learner's requirement increased. Therefore, need correct e-learning model augmented requirement of learner and new ubiquitous surrounding. In this treatise when, proposed to supplement studying contents relationship conversion service and cooperation studying service function to LMS that analyze existing e-learning model's limitation for ubiquitous environment e-learning model that can study regardless of, ubiquitously some contents and do based on SCORM ubiquitous-network and next generation sensor technology etc. Learning form conversion service senses a learner's surrounding situations and recognize his/her body condition using smart sensor technology and provides the learner with contents in the optimal form. Using sensing projects like Orestia and SOB, users can more effective collaborative learning service.

  • In the near future, we can access information which we want, whenever we want, wherever we use. Because almost devices in ubiquitous environment are connected by either wired or wireless network. Especially, u-Learning emphasizing on pedagogical property is enable to improve learning abilities. As researches of the previous u-Learning. there have been learning by mobile devices such like PDAs as well as the smart classroom, which makes the remote students participate in the existing class. However, these researches have not satisfied pedagogical, cooperative and ubiquitous properties yet. Thus we suggest the framework for both local and mobile classroom, which can make the properties easy to satisfy.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the implications for new strategical policy on promoting lifelong learning in ubiquitous society by gathering the views and ideas of experts. We interviewed with 15 experts in the fields of ubiquitous learning and technology. In the result, we found the following pre-requisites in promoting lifelong learning in ubiquitous society: 1) consensus regarding the ubiquitous society, 2) infra structure and various services, 3) contents based on the citizens' needs, 4) information gap closing, and 5) law and institutions in terms of lifelong learning in ubiquitous society.

  • This study was conducted to provide standards for the development of contents and systems for digital textbooks by examining the learners' satisfaction from digital textbooks, which are now being distributed to schools, in terms of ubiquitous learning, and by verifying the moderation effect of learners' computer self efficacy and digital textbook usage. SPSS win 13.0 was used for technical statistics, Cronbach's $\alpha$ coefficient calculation and correlation analysis for empirical analysis, and the MMR (moderated multiple regression) analysis was conducted for the hypothesis test. The following principal results were obtained from the hypothesis tests. First, the ubiquitous learning features had direct effects on the learning satisfaction from the digital textbooks. Second, when the ubiquitous learning features had positive effects on the learning satisfaction from digital textbooks, both the computer self efficacy and digital textbook usage reacted with the ubiquitous learning feature and showed moderation effects. These results were statistically significant.

  • This article first defines the concept of ubiquitous learning, and then examine ways to design the educational environment for e-Learning and u-Learning. Next, identifies some disadvantages before seeking possible solutions. Finally, the article explores visions of how ubiquitous learning might look in the future. With the advent of information, communication and computer technologies, the needs and demands for ubiquitous learning are largely emerging, enabling students to easily access everything they want anytime, anywhere. In particular, the advance of high-speed broadband networks such as DMB, WiBro and WCDMA and the proliferation of portable digital devices including DMB, PDA and high-performance mobile phones will encourage the widespread adoption of u-Learning.
