Performance Analysis of UBW Communication System using Time-Hopping PPM modulation (Time-Hopping PPM 변조를 이용한 UWB 통신 시스템의 성능 평가)

  • Ultra-wideband(UWB) communication applications is a recent innovation due to high transmission rate and low power emission. Therefore, it is important to research UWB signal's characteristics and modulation methods to apply to various UWB communication technologies. In this paper the characteristics of Gaussian monopulse which is capable of using UWB communication was analyzed and we compared the performance of PPM and PAM modulation method. Also we analyzed the interference effect of QPSK system with different center frequencies in the present of various UWB noises and simulated simple UWB transceiver system.

  • This paper presents the impacts of Ultra Wide-Band(UWB) sensor using frequency of 4.5 GHz on Broadband Wireless communication system which uses frequency of 4.5 GHz. The Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) method and Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) is used to evaluate the interference effects of UWB sensor on Broadband Wireless communication system, respectively. The minimum protection distance between single UWB sensor and mobile station of Broadband Wireless communication system should be more than 1.2 m to guarantee the co-existence. In case of multiple UWB sensors, UWB transmitting PSD of around -68.5 dBm/MHz below should be required to guarantee interference probability of 5% below for mobile station of Broadband Wireless communication system.

  • In this paper, we proceeded a study about the wireless endoscopic technology development combined with UWB communication module for endoscope. Firstly, we proposed needs of UWB wireless endoscope technology development related to domestic endoscope industry and UWB communication technology. Also, we develop a wireless endoscope combined with UWB communication module. In this paper, the proposed UWB wireless endoscope technology can acquire a endoscope image using UWB communication method. It can transfer a image at high data rate using DB and Smart Device linkage technology, an effective and trusted diagnosis is possible. The proposed UWB wireless communication module combined with UWB communication module is expected to be widely utilized.

  • An UWB communication system are a promising communication technique suitable for the current trends, which are requesting communication methods with the high throughputs and very high speed. A key feature of UWB communication systems is the very narrow pulse used in transmitting the data and PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) for modulating the data. So, the timing accuracy is very important. It is very important to accurately analyze the effect of the timing jitter on the performance of UWB communication systems. In this paper, the methods of analyzing the timing jitter effects on UWB communication systems are introduced. In particular, the channel capacities with timing jitter are calculated including the multiuser access interference.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, we propose a novel cooperative communication protocol adaptive to current UWB link transmission rate. The proposed cooperative communication protocol has compatibility with current WiMedia D-MAC and Wireless USB standard and is executed at each device according to a Relay Node Selection (RNS) criterion.

  • Ultra Wideband(UWB) technologies have been developed to exploit a new spectrum resource in substances and to realize ultra-high-speed communication, high precision geolocation, and other applications. The energy of UWB signal is extremely spread from near DC to a few GHz. This means that the interference between conventional narrowband systems and UWB systems is inevitable. However, the interference effects had not previously been studied from UWB wireless systems to conventional mobile wireless systems sharing the frequency bands such as Korean Cellular CDMA and WCDMA. This paper experimentally evaluates the interference from two kinds of UWB sources, namely a direct-sequence spread-spectrum CDMA(DS-CDMA) UWB source and an impulse radio UWB source, to a Cellular CDMA and WCDMA digital transmission system. The average frame error rate degradation of each system are presented. From these experimental results, the interference effects of DS-CDMA UWB source is not severe compared to the Impulse UWB.

  • In this paper, the performance variation of a planar circular monopole antenna is studied, when this antenna is fabricated to film type and installed in the space between case and PCB of UWB terminal. When the circular monopole part has the 'ㄷ' folded structure, the input impedance and return loss, bandwidth, radiation pattern of this antenna are simulated and measured. Then the performance variation is compared with conventional planar antenna. As the results, the folded type circular antenna is usable as a intenna of UWB communication terminal, because of the good return loss and radiation pattern performance in the 2.6 - 12 GHz including the UWB frequency band.

  • In this paper we analyse radiation measurement method for UWB wireless system of the wideband low power frequency characteristics. In the radiation measurement environment we discuss RMS electric field strength, UWB PSD, UWB detect signal level, UWB noise signal collection etc.. also, we discuss power measure method of the CISPR16-1, low level e.i.r.p radiation measurement method. lastly we analyse consideration problem for the signal analyser of the UWB system.
